A bar with good food and great service. this bar use to be some old fast food outlet as they have a drive thru window but no drive-thru liquor capabilities. The food was very tasty and drinks reasonably priced in this no-frills bar. It looks like they have a good music set up most likely on the weekends and overall this was a pleasant place to look and eat for a far away rural bar near a major college football location. I didn’t expect this place to be anything more than two stars. I have lost track at how many bars called Mulligans I have been through the years

The people there are warm and inviting, owners take time to get to know you and the food is out of this world. I haven’t had a bad meal there!!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent home cooked food, comfort food available daily. Great drink specials. Fun atmosphere to eat at during the day yet awesome entertainment for evening libations. Def a home town bar, as a «townie» myself I always feel welcomed everytime I walk through the doors due to the amazing staff and owners. I feel at home everytime I’m there yet love meeting all of the out of towners who visit once and become a familiar face when they return… and they always return.

Dirty, smells bad. Did not eat my lunch. Lacks any of the charming qualities a dive bar might have that allows you to forgive the smell and abysmal service. I have no idea how this place stays open.

Very average all around. Owner likes to be center of attention. Just a bunch of townies wanting to be close to witness another 9 – 3 season

Good food, good alcohol, great service. It’s the place to be! Perfect atmosphere. Not too crowded but you’ll see your friends. The owners are freaking awesome too. They know how to have a good time. Get some nachos & a beer and you’ll have a great night!!!

I feel I should update the previous posts. I was apprehensive about trying this place based on the older reviews. Went on a Sunday, Chris the manager set the TV’s so I could see 4 of the early games I wanted. The bartender(not hard on the eyes) made sure I was never dry. In fact, asked about a fresh drink each time I had less than a forth left in my glass. I only had there«boneless Wings» chicken tenders. As reviewed, I thought the mild sauce was more spiced than the hot,(which does have garlic in it). Otherwise they were lightly breaded and good. I’ll be back.

Students know this place as a bar fool of townies but not in a bad way. If you want to get away from other students and go out to a bar and not be found this is the place to go. The biggest thing working in Mulligan’s favor is that they do not have a cover and never has a line. The prices are cheaper than the more frequented bars near by IE The Backer. Typical bar food is found here but nothing special.

Was expecting a lot more than what I got from the place. Beer pong is cool there. Gangbangers frequent the establishment and it get’s rough. Not as clean as most places. Not one place to frequent. I was drug out to it by a friend after she made plans with her others friends and forgot about ours for that evening, so she brought me along. Kind of a dive, kind of a ND hangout, mostly a rough crowd.

There is no way this place is the number one place in South Bend. Just shows how easy it is for people to use a computer today. If this is the best bar in South Bend, no wonder why more than half of Notre Dame mocks locals.

My favorite ND bar! Pat and Sue are awesome and true Notre Dame fans living a dream of being a bar owners. Great pub grub, huge beers. Give them a try… they treat you like family!

This is a place for locals only. Very small establishment with the owners(I’m assuming) drunk all the time while running the establishment. The food is pretty much nonexistent. Go somewhere else! They love the former ND athlete and«really» try to accommodate us. They always want pictures and memorabilia to put on the walls. It’s a pass when your in south bend

Ran out of pizza when I went but it was okay… They have amazing drink specials. I think everyday they have 33oz draft beers for $ 3.50. The owner was really nice. It is smoky there(like ‘Backer) so be aware.

Listen, Mulligan’s isn’t the greatest bar in the world but it’s a lot better than most of the bars in South Bend. And it’s a huge supporter of Notre Dame and ND club sports. If you want a great place to play some pool, shoot some darts, have some great pub food then this is the place. Also, don’t forget to say«Hi» to Pat and Sue Mulligan. Great people!

How is it that Mulligan’s has yet to be reviewed on here?! As someone who finally started writing reviews after feeling a bit guilty for reaping the benefits of the insight of others over the years, I have recently become perhaps a tad overeager to offer my opinion. But, I can’t pass up sharing about this place. Let’s start with some context: I was a law student in South Bend. This is through the eyes of someone who went out multiple days of the week in the great community surrounding ND versus someone who comes into town for a football game without an understanding about the«nightlife» in SoBe. This place opened right when my third year started, and I am so happy it did. This is your typical no-frills establishment, with cheap drinks, a makeshift outdoor patio(the fence around it has led my friends and I to affectionately call it «The Pig Pen»), and a DJ and/or Karaōke almost every night. The layout of the bar is admittedly kind of bizarre, with the bar and surrounding stools in one room separated from the main dining room and dance floor. The dance floor isn’t large(tiny compared to Finnegan’s or Backer’s), but that’s rarely a problem. Pool and darts are an option for those nights you don’t have enough liquid courage to dance around like an idiot. Huge beers for $ 3, and well drinks for not much more. Bartenders are all very friendly and fast. The clientele is a blend of ND students(lots of law types like myself) and locals. I think the solid variety on any given night if a testament to how awesome this place is, because if you know anything about the Bend, you know that locals and students don’t always mix particularly well socially. When you’re feeling the dance floor, your DJ will actually play your song request within the next couple songs even if you don’t slip money into the tip jar, and karaōke performances vary from the awesomely horrendous(I like to think I fall into this category) to occasionally downright impressive. Be warned: you’ll regularly hear the same song from the same person or group multiple times a week if they happen to be around that night. When all is said and done, it is truly the owners that make this place so great. Pat and Sue work almost every night, and«welcome you home» whenever you decide to stop by. They are behind the bar, helping in the kitchen or simply greeting – they’re everywhere. They do everything they can to keep all their patrons happy, and they’re about as big of ND fans as they come. They know you, they know your story – it’s the Cheers of SB. The themed nights(Mardi Gras, St. Pat’s, etc.), beer pong tournaments, different DJs nightly and milestone celebrations(customer birthdays, graduation, etc.) means coming to the same bar all the time still consistently provides a new experience. If I could change one thing, it would be the smoking policy. I hate it. It’s not fun to be able to smell yourself as soon as you get home at night and know that if you don’t shower immediately, you risk your bed smelling like an ashtray. If you go, you need to Bear Fight if you haven’t done one before. Don’t ask, just do it.
