I like the place, nice atmosphere and good staff. I’ve been several times. The food is usually good but is sometimes hit and miss. I mostly stick to the pulled pork sandwich and the burgers. The pretzels are yummy. My wife likes the cobb salad, but once the salad was a little wilty. Overall, it is never as packed as the places over in the commons, which is a plus. Twice the manager gave us free ND beer glasses! I’ll be back again soon.

For convenience, it’s hard to beat, but especially on a gameday weekend, it will be insanely crowded. I went on a Friday at around 4:30 p.m. prior to the recent game against Wake Forest & by myself, rather than wait half an hour for a table in the restaurant, stood like a vulture over people who looked like they were leaving the bar area & jumped on the first open chair I could find, as it too offers full menu service. I ordered & the waitress seemed like she listened, then entered my order into the computer. Fairly straightforward — a Coke, some hot pretzel stick appetizers & an odd combination of barbecue bacon cheeseburger with peanut butter, with fries. I asked to hold the cheese, but apparently that was too much of a request, as the order was delivered with cheese. I should have known this might be an issue, when in the span of about 10 seconds, the waitress had forgotten I wanted fries & not chips when she asked that. The food itself was good & served quickly. The atmosphere of the restaurant was exciting & filled with the anticipation of the coming game. I’d go back, probably on a quieter day, to see if the service was more attentive & because I didn’t get a ND cookie? What’s that about? Would also have liked to have taken a look around, but as the place was nearly wall to wall with people, that was nearly impossible.

Solid choice for an on campus restaurant. Even though we showed up at 8pm on a Friday, we were seated right away. The place was busy but it’s big so not overly so. The service was fine, our waitresses were super friendly but we had 3 or 4 different people so that was a little confusing and slow. Everyone’s food was very good but the portions were lopsided. My brother in law got a chicken sandwich which was HUGE but my grilled chicken wrap barely had anything inside and my fiancées chicken entrée was even smaller. The food really was above average, a little bit more variety than your basic American pub restaurant but they should standardize servings to make sure people get a real meal. It was surprising to us because we’re East Coast people and generally find portions in the Midwest to be enormous and this was the complete opposite. Good beer selection too!

We were excited to eat here since it is on the ND campus, but we’re kind of let down. Great atmosphere/location, mediocre food, unpleasant service but good cookies. The hostess acted annoyed and rolled her eyes at us because we didn’t want to squeeze a large party into a booth. Our waitress also seemed annoyed with us, bringing our check without even asking if we were finished or wanted dessert. She didn’t even given us the ND cookies(which the menu states comes with your meal) until we asked… after she gave us the check. Select menu for game day weekends. Probably wouldn’t go back unless it was just for drinks at the bar.

We arrived around 11:00 on a home game Friday and we were just ahead of the big crowd. The food was pretty good(loved the pretzel sticks), and the service was great. This was our first time at Notre Dame but we’d definitely come back to Legends on a return trip.

Food was good, service was good by Kathy at the bar. Alas, I can not give more than one star. For being a religious school, experiencing racial discrimination was surprising. Here is my story. We entered the establishment with good intentions. It was around 1130. The place was NOT crowded with lots of empty booths. The bar had two people sitting at the bar with no one in the booths. We requested the hostess to seat us for two. She replied, you cannot sit at the main area because we are expecting a large crowd. She recommended we sit at the bar booth. Understanding that we are just two people, we agreed with some reservation. Has to question the motive considering the restaurant was nearly empty. After ordering food with Kathy at the bar. Everything went fine. Kathy was a great server. We continued to dine without much incident but couldn’t help noticing no one came in. We sat and dined for over an hour and half. No large crowds came in. I went to the restroom during which I reviewed the area. The restaurant was empty as much as when we entered. The two people at the bar had left. Much of the patrons at the restaurant had left. This was the peak of the lunch crowd and we were told to sit in a booth away from the main area. The restaurant was empty! I try to give the benefit of doubt but when it is blatant it is hard to let things go. I hope they remove this hostess. Either she lies, has other motives, or is not a very good hostess. I am extremely disappointed at my experience on the campus of Norte Dame!

An average place overall. My mushroom taco dish wasn’t very good. The filling was tasty but the tacos were very dry. My husband had a chicken dish that was surprisingly good. I normally anticipate restaurant chicken, especially chicken breast to be very dry, but this was perfectly moist and tender. Service was pleasant. Atmosphere was nice. Was a cross between a middle of the road sit down restaurant and sports bar.

I went to Legends for the first time and was very pleased with the service and the food. There were four in our dinner group and we all decided that Legends would become a place to visit often.

For being on campus I thought the prices were good. They could make it a tourist trap, but it’s not! The food was typical sports bar choices but well prepared. The specials seemed worth taking advantage of if you live nearby. The décor immerses you in Notre Dame sports history. Service was good. Definitely a safe bet if visiting campus. We were there in the summer for a camp and it was not packed but busy.

Service for our large group was great. We ordered aps and everything came out correct and hot. There were 16 of us and all of our orders were correct and everyone had a good time. The only criticism I’d have would be that it was really cold in the area we were sat.

I don’t know about Legends. The food is OK, and the service is friendly, if rushed. They have an impressive collection of Notre Dame memorabilia, but that’s not really that impressive considering the place is on Notre Dame’s campus and is run by the university. We sat and ate our lunch/dinner beneath a larger-than-life framed Niele Ivey jersey. Was it an omen of good things to come? Yes. And no. Yes because we beat Baylor that night. No because Ace went down that night – and I’m not talking about that again for a while. Later in the evening, I could have performed the Heimlich Maneuver on an older woman who was choking, but I was afraid I might crack her ribs. As I continued to slap her back(which isn’t actually dangerous – that’s just something Dr. Heimlich made up in order to prove that his way of saving choking victims was the only safe way) and she continued to choke, a couple of Legends employees arrived, Heimliched her, and saved her life. OK, four stars it is then. Despite my Lord Jim-like failure on this March night in 2014, I did have a rather more successful attempt at something less life-and-death but just as meaningful in October 2002. See, where Legends now stands there used to be a place called Senior Bar. I won’t go into all the details, but this is where, on Halloween in 2002, amidst Notre Dame’s best start to a football season since 1993, I first met my dear friend and fellow native Californian Jen. She was dressed as Poison Ivy, and for months afterward I was always surprised to see that her hair was straight. I had focused on our conversation so much that evening that I had no idea the hair was just part of the costume. I won’t go into wearing a Hawai’ian shirt to a Thai dinner or multiple visits in Granger and Koreatown, so if you don’t know where this went already, you didn’t miss much. But you also missed everything. The world doesn’t stop very often. It did twice momentarily in this location. I’m appreciative of the opportunities I had; hopefully, I’ll make better use of the third one, and yes, there will be a third one.

Good food. Great place to bring an out of town guest who wants to experience a bunch of domers. Prices are little high, but you’re paying for the location and experience. Overall, it was a good place to eat and I’d go back.

A coworker and I were in South Bend for work, and wanted to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. I’m sorry we chose Legends. It was a Thursday evening, and the place was busy but not packed. We were seated right away, and a server appeared quickly and took our food and drink orders. Things kind of went downhill from there. We waited for twenty minutes before our drinks appeared. Another fifteen before they brought our salads. Our food finally arrived, and we were both disappointed. My coworker’s fish and chips consisted of three perfectly formed triangular shaped fish patties and some steak fries. They looked like something you’d get at the college cafeteria. My Thai chicken over rice was so drenched in sauce that it looked like a bowl of soup. The rice was actually on top of the dish, as if it had been scooped using an ice cream scoop. Some of the rice was dry and crunchy. I don’t think the problems were the fault of the servers. Every single one of them was hustling, and I heard a server(not ours) apologizing to a nearby table for the slow service. It seems that the kitchen was backed up. And the food they were producing wasn’t very good to begin with. I would not recommend this place to my friends.

We have lived in the area for 15 years but had not visited Legends before. We may go back, but never when there is an event going on. We went to the Chicago Blackhawks«open-to-the-public» scrimmage Saturday morning, and headed to Legends for lunch after. They were SERIOUSLY understaffed even though they had 3 hostesses directing people to plenty of seating, the kitchen staff couldn’t get the food prepared and we saw some folks get angry and leave. We weren’t in a hurry, so went in the bar expecting a long wait. There was one hard-working waitress both tending bar and waiting tables. She handled us admirably, considering the circumstances. She seriously needed some back up. Once we finally got our food, the quality was fine. The burgers are good and the traditional reuben was tasty and well prepared. We may go back, but not before or after an on-campus public event. Not worth the hassle.

I was excited to come to this place this was our first experience with being in South Bend and we had heard good things about this place but I was disappointed. This place is pretty dead during the week which makes since considering the students should be studying and not partying. The service was really bad there were only two other groups of people seated in the bar and two employees and the service was very slow and the waitress seemed very uninterested in helping us. They do drink specials during the week but I would stick to the beer the well drinks had very little alcohol in them. The food was fine it just took forever.

If you are in the mood for drinks — this place is fine. If you would like some appetizers — this place is fine. If you would like to have dinner — GOELSEWHERE. There was a time I thought the food was moving in the right direction but the other night we had dinner. I decided to go healthy and had the salmon. I could barley eat the piece. It was not flaky, it smelled fishy(salmon should not smell like that) and it was over dyed — a really pinkish, unnatural color. I’m pretty sure it was frozen. The risotto was a sticky mess. I ate about half of it. For $ 18, I expected something much better. With Eddy Street Commons just next door, Legends needs to step up their game if they want to stay in business. The food is just well below average.

I came here for an after-work social event, and we had a variety of appetizers. It was typical bar food, but it tasted slightly above average. Appetizers The potato items were pretty good. The sliced potatoes and fries topped with cheese and bacon was savory and flavorful. The bbq wings were decent, but nothing spectacular. The nachos weren’t very good… The cheese on the nachos was dry and hard instead of gooey and melty. The chips themselves weren’t that good either – they seemed a bit stale. Service This was disappointing… There were only few others in the restaurant since it was still early in the day during the summer. I finished my drink fairly quickly, and nobody ever refilled it, and I was there for at least 20 – 25 minutes after I finished the drink. Overall the food was okay, average or maybe slightly above average bar food. I probably won’t come again unless it was for another event or others wanted to go.

This place is pretty awesome! I came here to tailgate for the USC game and had a great time! The food was very good and the beer was cold. What more could a girl ask for :) Also within stumbling distance to the stadium so take advantage of that!

Perfect place for lunch meetings. I have had almost all of their salads and have enjoyed them all– my favorite is the Legendary Cobb Salad(I order it hold the ham and turkey). I’ve heard the fish and chips are pretty good, too, but I haven’t tried them. They seasonally grow their own herbs and cherry tomatoes(delish!), which can be seen growing outside their restaurant.
