The meatloaf and the«special recipe» KFC-style fried chicken were right out of the worst nightmare of my junior high school’s cafeteria. «Tasteless» is being kind. The mashed potatoes on both plates came ice cold and when we informed the waitress, she asked us to scrape it off our plates so she could nuke them. Enough said. Maybe the bar is the draw?

I’ve been in a few times recently since my original review and found a friendly bartender, Carmen, on duty so I put Jason’s on my list of places to frequent. The other night I went back and Donna was on duty :(. Not a friendly person, rounds the checks up or down in order«to avoid pennies»(what? Weird) and decided to change the TV setting 25 minutes into a 30 minute popular prime time show to some stupid TruTv show and when I asked she tried to sell it as if it was the will of the majority. Yeah, no. No one asked her to change the channel. Sounds like a silly thing to gripe about but she’s just a bitch

I really enjoy this place. The past couple years we try to make it a point to stop here during our vacations on the Cape. Went on Tuesday(6−30−15) night with the family and yet again we were happy to have gone. The menu is a great combination consisting of good salads, some fried seafood, some Italian. I always find myself trying to decide what to get between three or four things. We got the fried Parmesan calamari Caesar salad, the coconut chicken, and a KFC style chicken breast. All were great! The calamari was tender and not overcooked like I find in a lot of places. Great Parmesan flavor and good dressing. The coconut chicken was awesome. Cooked nicely and very juicy, A sweet and sour dipping sauce which was a nice accompaniment. The kfc chicken was a great surprise in which I got a great tasting piece of chicken with great sides certainly a step above a KFC. The main dishes are of a great quality but the sides could be better. The fries are a standard frozen batter coated(not bad just nothing special) the veggies were ok(again not bad but nothing special). This is what sets them as good, even very good, but not phenomenal. The service was outstanding, Michael greeted us within seconds of sitting down and was friendly and courteous. He made sure each of our special requests were met and readily offer his insight and opinion on the menu. Very good restaurant and we will definitely go again. This is our Cape Cod hidden Gem. It is clean and nice inside, nothing spectacular. It is in a strip mall and not on the water. I believe it is for these reasons that it is not as well known as some other Cape Cod restaurants.

I love this restaurant! After eating at fancy restaurants all weekend my husband and I wanted a quick, casual meal before we headed back up to Boston tonight. We sat at a table in the bar area. He ordered a quahog and burger, I ordered the drunkin coconut chicken and we both loved our meals. The prices are great and we were in and out in less than a hour. The bartender who waited on us did so perfectly even though the tables in her section were full as well as the bar which was also almost full. She was sweet, helpful and had a great personality. We will be back often!

I feel like I need some stars after going to this tavern. We went for my grandmothers birthday last night.(for whatever reason why she likes this place). We were a few minutes late after my family had already ordered their food and received it. The waitress seemed pained that we say down at the table. She reluctantly approached asking if we wanted something to drink. Heaven forbid we asked for waters while looking over the beer selection. Came back, ordered our beers, never asked if anyone else needed anything.(common question). Came back and a family member asked for a glass of wine and you would have thought the world was ending. She never asked if we wanted a menu(which we were starving and would have loved to eat). She never came back until it was time to drop the check and surprise surprise she rolled her eyes when my family asked for to go boxes. After leaving I was so mad and disappointed in her lack of service and attentiveness we went to another restaurant and my wife and I racked up a hefty bill and PURPOSELYOVERTIPPEDSOMEONEELSE. This older waitress with glasses has no need to worry about us again. WEWILLLITERALLYNEVERCOMEBACK.

I went in to this little place with no idea what I would be getting. New to the area and well, being in s strip mall, I wasn’t expecting too much. Maybe I got lucky, from what I’ve seen in some of these other reviews, but although the bartender wasn’t super friendly the regulars were awesome! Made me fell like I was Norm at Cheers. I was in the mood for some mingling, so it was really nice to meet such a nice group of people. No fancy bar drinks or mixology here, but it works for what it is. I tried the cod rueben and was really impressed. The fish was really tasty. I would go again.

I’ve been several times. The food is good(big portions), the booze is great, and the specials are yummy. It’s close and convenient, I’ll continue visiting Jason’s!

We went to Jasons Tavern on a Friday night excited to spend a nice evening dinner with my husband. The surly, uninterested waitress was not to pleased to have to take our order. We both ordered beers. I ordered a Blue Moon on tap. She came and brought me a huge(22?) oz glass. I asked if they have different sizes as this was too much for me and she said No and walked away. We then ordered our meals(me — eggplant parm, husband –fish and chips). The eggplant parm was edible. Nothing to write home about but about what you’d expect for a place like this tavern. The parm came with a beef barley soup and you can have a salad for .99 cents. I asked if I could have the salad instead of the soup and the waitress just snapped«For 99 cents!». So I ended up getting no soup, an extra salad(which turned out to be a few lousy pieces of lettuce and a few small tomatoes) for the extra .99 cents and the eggplant parm for 12.99. My husbands fish and chips were served with a few onion rings on top. This was pretty good… not served with any veg or salad. We have been to Jason’s a few times as it’s convenient to where we live but this will have been our last visit as the experience was not to repeat. Waitress are horrible.

A horrible experience. Went for lunch and ordered seafood salad. It was rotten. Explained this to the waitress and she was unsympathetic. Thankfully I had not eaten a large amount, but this could have made someone so sick. Shocking that the restaurant did not do anything to rectify the situation. Own a house locally, and will share our experience with local friends. DONOTGO.

Overpriced for restaurant in strip mall. Food not great and wine overpriced! $ 7.50 a glass! Service OK

I have a summer home in Dennis and wanted to try this restaurant. It appears to cater to the retirement crowd, which I am not. Many items were just way too salty for me. The food was just OK for the money. The worst part was the waiter — Michael. He was not helpful when asked a few questions and was at times just plain rude. I thought it was just our table until I heard the table next to us complain about him too when he left their table. He just should find another job. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I know I will.

According to our relative who lives outside of Boston, «people don’t come to New England for the food.» Unfortunately Jason’s backs that up. Mr. M. said, «This place has a bit of a Rossmoor feel.» Translation: salty, overcooked, difficult to choke down cafeteria level food. Abundance of customers whose taste buds are no longer at their prime. Exalted cheese fries and clam chowder 2.5 stars. Everything else we tried 1 star. Shudder. Biggest food choice mistake of our vacation. Lots of leftovers. Nobody wanted ‘em. Server was nice.

Overpriced, slow, unimpressive service. Not an awful place, and if your a snooty tourist you’ll probably love it. As a local it’s been crossed off my list.

On a recent Thursday evening my husband and I ate at Jason’s Tavern located in Dennis, Mass. Although we’ve been going to Cape Cod for years we had never eaten there. It is a long standing establishment so we figured it couldn’t be THAT bad. WRONG ! Although the restaurant wasn’t crowded the waitress had a sense of urgency in serving us. The drink order was one thing but we hadn’t even finished looking at the menu when she came back, twice, to take our meal order. The scallop skewer I ordered had been, I think, cooked on Monday and reheated. The bacon was seriously overcooked and the scallops were undercooked. My husband’s cheeseburger was returned to be cooked to the ordered medium-rare, it was barely cooked, the cheese hadn’t even melted on it. I think in the future we’ll be passing up on Jason’s Tavern . Danice 0

After trying the Stuffed Quahog and chowder the good stuff kept coming with the rib tips and the seafood platter… The seafood platter was excellent and tons of food. The service was very good as well which is why we are giving five stars.

We knew Jason’s was a great place for basic food — burgers, sandwiches, seafood, etc. We never expected to find heaven on a plate, the homemade cheese fries are delicious! Well worth going for the cheese fries alone! Too bad the ultimate mac and cheese is a special and not on the main menu — it was delicious and huge, we were still heating it up and eating it the next day.

On our October ’09 trip to Dennis, we stopped in here hoping for good food for a fair price and somehow struck«great», instead! The meal was warm, wholesome, and plentiful. Although a «tavern,» the atmosphere was not raucous. We could enjoy the conversation, the nearby fireplace, the music playing quietly. Although we were only in Dennis for three days, we made it here twice. We’re planning to come back to Dennis this year and this place is on our list to visit again!
