Nothing here to distinguish China Buffet from any other Chinese buffet in the world except for the price tag. I paid way too much for barely mediocre food with surly staff in a barely presentable dining room.

North of Albany, this is one of the better Chinese Buffets. They rotate the offerings as well. Plenty of the fatmakers like the sweet n sour, rangoons, etc(the fried chicken is actually really quite good). The folks who own it are good eggs. Very reasonable for lunch… Outside of the Capital Buffet(Wolf Road… best one) and the Super Buffet(Rensselaer)…this is the only one I visit around the region.

To be perfectly honest the food is very mediocre and seems to have been sitting out to long. Seriously, skip this one.

Hadn’t been here in five years or so, due to concerns about the temperature of the food and lingering stomach discomfort on multiple occasions. Assured by friends recently that this is the best Chinese buffet in the area, and thinking perhaps things had improved, my wife and I went with our daughter on a snowy winter night. Daughter had worked all day and was famished, so she tried a little of everything, and she was happy with about half the selections. She loved the dumplings, which I agree had a great flavor but which were far from hot. I found the overall quality way below acceptable, with only occasional items(fried shrimp, boneless spare ribs) as good as I could order in from Main Moon, our Chinese delivery place of choice. I still don’t think the food is hot enough, and sure enough, had an upset stomach within hours of our visit. Positives: Very friendly service, nice atmosphere, decently priced. The hard ice cream as a dessert selection is really very nice. The brownies were good. Negatives: The once-touted free soda no longer is free; the hot food is not kept hot enough. As a result, while our daughter was more or less pleased with the dinner, I felt it was exactly as I remembered from years back, while my wife was more or less disgusted and filled with regret that we did not go to her first choice, United Buffet; But, it was snowing and we didn’t want to drive an hour to Schenectady. There’s no question at all that we won’t have another meal at China Buffet, which is a shame, because despite our disappointment, it really still is better than the other Chinese buffets up in nearby Queensbury, at the similarly-named Old China Buffet, and Nine Dragons. But the fact is, all three are pretty terrible. Someone with the funding and desire could clean up in the Chinese buffet business if they moved into the Glens Falls area and just offered decent food at a good price with a nice ambiance.

Not so cheap, no variety of food… I ate there 3 times In a row because I was time pressed. $ 8.50 with tip. Only one decent shrimp dish. the others had lots of fillers. Green beans were a hit. Soups were flat out gross, Out of the twenty or so hot dishes available I would say I only the seafood and broccoli might have me feeling I might reorder that as a single dish. And that had that sleazy fake crab slimy white sauce. Ehhhhh… NEXT!

My parents and boyfriend were visiting the Lake George and Saratoga Springs area the last week of August, and we were craving Chinese food. My mom really wanted to go see Cooper’s Cave, which was located in South Glen Falls, so I searched for Chinese food in the local area. Come to find out the China Buffet was literally around the corner from Cooper’s Cave. The cave itself was not too much of an attraction, but we ate lunch right after at the China Buffet. There was a wide food selection at the buffet, and everything was fresh! It even had hard-scooped ice cream. For a Tuesday around lunch-time, I thought it was quite busy. The servers were very polite and cleared up our dishes and refilled our drinks on time. I definitely think it’s a buffet you should try out!

When China Buffet first opened it was very good. My brother thought it was one of the best Chinese buffets he had ever been to. Unfortunately, that was a few years ago, and now the choice and quality of selections has greatly diminished. Because the volume of customers going through the buffet is so low, they don’t put out a lot of food and the food that they do put out is not fresh by the time you get to it. The service is great since there are not very many customers to take care of. Of course service only consists of refilling water glasses and clearing away used plates. The buffet price is very reasonable($ 8 for lunch including tax, no tip), but the food is such poor quality that it is probably not worth eating at any price. The people at the China Buffet are nice and they try, but there is just not enough customer traffic to allow them to put out a wide variety of fresh food. The only reason I don’t give it one star is the low price and the friendliness of the servers.
