Always amazing. We come every time we are in south haven. Wedge salad, lobster bisque, Gouda Mac, duck, filet… all top notch. Never had a bad meal. And always excellent service!

I’m an avid golfer and I have played a lot of the great tracks in this country and abroad, Hawkshead is really a great place. The course is very playable, and the staff are friendly. It’s my favorite destination in South Haven

One of my favorite golf courses in SW Michigan serves terrific food. We had lunch after our round and I was impressed with my jerk chicken sandwich– perfectly toasted roll with blackened breast, mango salsa, perfectly crisp bacon and the sauce was perfectly acidic and creamy. The unique twisty wide cut fries were right on. Good service and prices too.

Terrible MANAGERS! Worst customer service I have ever witnessed, and I know the summer kids must get the brunt of this misguided treatment. DONOTCOME. So many GREAT courses in Michigan with exceptional customer service.

Excellent service. Tator tots with bacon A+ Ice berg wedge lettuce with blue cheese A+ Lamb also excellent. BUT nothing compared to our waitress. She knew the menue, was fun to suggest items and made our special day even better

Good but not great. The Lamb Stew had yummy gravy, but practically NO meat. They should have called the entrée Lamb Gravy with meat specks. Did taste good though. Very slow service. Dessert was the best part of the meal.

The day started off great. However, if you want to have a nice round of golf with a small group of friends, DONOTCOMEHERE. We were constantly challenged, belittled, and questioned by the disgruntled ranger on a golf cart with a small yellow flag. He turned our two foursomes against Eachother, by saying each of our groups brought alcoholic beverages. There were numerous occasions of him watching all of us play each hole in depth, which was very disturbing. I have never felt so observed and judged as I play a normal game of golf on a holiday weekend.

Hawks Head did an amazing job for our wedding! They were well organized, thoughtful, attentive and paid attention to every detail. A surprise fireworks display was the icing on the cake! Nearly every guest of the wedding(200) said it was one of the best they’ve ever been to. We could not be happier!

Eh… just okay. I was headed south returning from my trip to Arcadia Bluffs and flipped a coin between playing HawksHead and The Ravines. Upon arrival, I was somewhat taken back by whats actually there. The website gives you the impression that there is a pretty big complex there but it’s not much. I ended up going off around 1pm after hitting a few balls and a few putts. Just for some context, I play to a 2HCP and am pretty well traveled when it comes to golf. The toughest thing about playing a course like this is the inconsistency of the track and a lack of information. For one, the course is not well marked yardage-wise which is always problematic. But beyond that, while it has some well placed bunkers and landmarks at which to aim at, it’s definitely not a course that is straight in front of you. So I spent the day guessing carry yardage, pin placements and everything else. The toughest thing to navigate on the course was the inconsistent greens. Most were rock hard but some were vastly different than the rest. Chipping was a challenge as there were not many bump and run opportunities so flying the ball through the air made it impossible to get them to stop. Even the quality of roll was different from hole to hole as some greens ran pretty smooth and others bumped along. There are some fun holes out there but again, it was difficult to hit shots close not being able to judge the first bounce. In retrospect, I wish I would’ve gone to The Ravines. Although it wasn’t terrible, it definitely is not the most memorable track.

dinner last night. food was consistent with prior reviews. service was not so good; waitress did not have good menu knowledge, she brought the wrong soup to the table; long wait for drinks from the bar; other minor irritants. they have a new, limited menu this year; 10 entrees plus one special; overall, I’d make this 3.5 due to the service. oh, yeah, one tip: if they promote a new appetizer real hard, check on the price before ordering it.

I have been to Hawkshead twice now. Once in February and again just last weekend. I found the staff over the top friendly and accomodating. We stayed in room 5 which has two bedrooms and a small utility kitchen. It was perfect for me and my friend and our kids. In February, we had dinner there and it was delicious and service was great. Since the Inn only has a few rooms, it really has the feeling of staying in a warm country house. All the rooms are unique and well appointed. We had a great stay, the rates are reasonble and I would reccommend to anyone coming to South Haven.

Had a reservation for 1:00, didn’t get seated till 1:35. Wait service was slow. Ordered the prime rib med rare. It came to me cold and tough as shoe leather with a ton of gnarly gristle. My wife’s French type toast was reheated and COLD blueberry sauce added to that, yuk!!! Best thing we had was the kids chicken fingers, and they came from a plastic frozen bag, I’m pretty sure. Never going to return except to play golf, nice course.

Excellent, friendly service with food that is prepared delicious and by a staff that knows how to pair items together properly. Highly recommend taking the drive out to see them and view the Black River Creek off of the back room for a relaxing meal with friends and family…

My wife and I visited the South Haven area and stayed at the Inn at HawksHead in late September. We stayed in Room 8, the Bobby Jones Haven room. HawksHead is a golf course, restaurant and Inn. We were out for the day and returned to the Inn at 10:45PM. The restaurant was closed, the lights off and the front door locked so we used a side door with the code they had provided to us as we were instructed to do As soon as we entered our room the cold hit us. There were no controls for the heating or air conditioning, just vents with cold air pouring out and no apparent way to control them. The outside temperature was in the 40’s! We assumed that the Inn had no heat as it is closed in winter. We slept in our clothes as well as putting the extra blanket on the bed. When we went out early the following morning we mentioned the problem to the manager. We explained how cold it was in our room and related that we had a miserable night. She said that she was sorry that we were cold and would turn the heat on. We returned around noon time to check out. The heat was on and our room was then very comfortable. We saw the manager as we were leaving and again mentioned the problem that we had experienced and asked her if she could do something, anything, to help make up for the miserable night we had. She just looked at us so with a blank stare so we suggested a credit against a future visit or a discount coupon to their restaurant. We told her that the amount was not important but rather a gesture to acknowledge that were sorry for the problem. She said that she would have to call someone to discuss this. She excused herself for about 10 minutes. When she returned she told us that the individual that she spoke with told her that it was our own fault because there is a thermostat on the wall in the hallway close to our room and all we had to do was to turn the heat on. Bewildered, we asked her was she saying that each room has a thermostat outside of their door? For some reason she did not want to answer us but we asked again. Finally she said that the thermostat controlled the entire 3rd floor, where our room was along with maybe two others. We told her that we did not see a thermostat on the wall in the hallway and what did she think would cause us to look for one there. She had no answer. Then she said that the person that she spoke to also said that we should have called the posted emergency number and asked why we did not do so. We asked, do you mean the number posted outside on the side door? She said«yes». We told her that we did see an emergency number posted but had no idea if it was for the police, fire department, paramedics or for the owner and, in any event as cold as we were in our room the last thing that we wanted to do was to go out in the cold to look for a number to who knows what. We were calm and courteous in both of our conversations with the manager but apparently that made no difference. We suggest that if you are looking for a place to stay in the South Haven area that you consider somewhere else where hopefully you will be treated with respect and not indifference and somewhere that will take ownership of their problems and not blame them on you.

I’m sorry to say I am only able to give this place one star. I would not go back. I was vacationing in South Haven this weekend with my husband’s family(who go every year) and they always rave about Hawkshead for dinner. We decided to leave later in the day than we had planned in order to be able to go with them and try it. We made the wrong choice. We’ll start off with the good things: Service– our waiter was excellent Cosmopolitan– I had a good one Now the not so good: My ribeye was cooked well when I had asked for medium Other guests, who ordered the filet, had their steaks undercooked 3 people ordered the Halibut and the overall sentiment was that it was dry and tasteless My salad has no dressing(not, not enough… none). Annoying. They were extremely high priced for the area and for the fact that their food was sub par. My husband and I paid close to 100 for 2 entrees and appetizer and one drink. My mother in law was very disappointed because it has always been so good in the past(according to her). She speculated that it may have changed hands.

Eh, it was ok. I think I saw Mr and Mrs Habecamp from Caddyshack dining in the main dining room. We were on the patio, as we clearly didn’t fit in on the inside. This is the upscale snooty place, and our Hello Deli T shirt and sandals did not belong. On the patio, the plastic tables and flies will do. Unfortunately, we didn’t golf, so our service(1 waitress for the entire patio of 20 tables) sucked. I would have expected a little better, because only 2 other tables were occupied, and they weren’t eating. Our grouper sandwich came later, after everyone else was done eating. They did offer a free dessert for the late cold fish sandwich which was plain vanilla ice cream. That is sort of how I’d describe this place – plain vanilla. Patrons – vanilla. Food – not even vanilla, maybe only the big tub of ice milk vanilla. I wouldn’t bother, really.

good value, challenging course, and decent. Cant say there is a signature hole, but lots of small greens and good course conditions.

If you are looking for a slightly more upscale dinner(still not at city levels), give Hawkshead a try. Basic new American fare which is done pretty well. Wife had a pecan crusted chicken while I had the ribeye special. Highly recommend the sweet potatoes, which has some brown sugar bruled on top.
