Harold’s Chicken Shack

Food was good as usual just didn’t like the new policy of having to take my hood off considering it was the coldest day of the year. If there was a sign posted stating that there is a no hood policy I would having adhered to this policy before entering. I can almost guarantee if a woman walks in with her hood on she would not have received the same treatment. For the no hood policy my rating for them has dropped for overall experience.

Spend your money at another location. While the food is fine this location is filled with bad attitudes all around. The older lady who took the order was curt with the expectation that you should know their menu. The cook from the back barely speaks up but had an attitude when I couldn’t understand what he said and asked him to repeat what he was saying to me (which turned out to be him telling me what was in the order he was presenting to me). All in all, poor customer service is the reason for this rating.

Catfish off the chain!!! try that half white too. usually just get wings but the half white gave the wings that fade!!!

Well, What can I say? Harold’s, a Chicago original… either you like it or hate it. I will say for this location (#54), it was cleanest, nicest I have been to in Chicago. I came to get my «wing fix» and I was not disappointed :) The chicken was freshly cooked and tasted like The Harold’s from way back ;)
The only compliant I have is the wait time. If you are in a hurry, this is not the place to order at the counter. I suggest calling ahead. Also, if you order additional mild sauce, it is stored cold at this store, so let sit or microwave it a few seconds before pouring it on your fresh, warm chicken. Thumbs up for this location. I enjoyed my order.

This Harold’s is ok but the only issue I have with it is that they will not take your order over the phone and then prepare your order. you always have to call in your order and then go there and pay for your order and then still wait for them to actually prepare your order it is very frustrating and it completely defeats the purpose of a place that only has pick up but does not allow you to order your food early

I use to trust this Harold’s and never had to worry when I got home if my food was right or the way I ordered it… The last couple of times I have been disappointed and suggest you check your food if you go late at night!!! Not sure if it’s the younger staff at night but when I go in the middle of the day everything is always good. If your order is wrong you get a half hearted I’m sorry but nothing for having to come back so they can correct their mistake.

Fries were good! Hard to locate a real Harolds anymore! Chicken was extremely large, sauce was watered down. However very clean inside. Really not a big fan of the large wings. Haven’t tried anything other than the wings to leave feedback on. That was second visit, same results. Much success to that establishment.

The owner has put a lot of effort into standing apart from typical «harolds».
That is commendable, however please be considerate of your patrons, their time, and money!
I wasted gas and precious time to drive to your location after placing a phone order during lunch hours, to be informed I must spend $ 10. 00 to utilize my credit card?!?
Please kindly mention that when patrons place their orders.
Extremely disappointed.

The waiting area is clean, chicken is excellent, but it takes forever to get your order, workers in the back that cook are extremely slow

My husband just ordered food from here and was told after he paid for it that he had to take his hood off. They have a policy in place if you have a hoodie on they assume they will be robbed by you. Food and customer service is great but that policy sucks.

There are a lot of different Harold’s chicken throughout Chicago. Some are better than others. I have to put this one in the better category. The restaurant is clean and inviting and the chicken was great.

The chicken here is very good. It’s always hot and it is very clean and nice inside. The only con about here is that you have to call in very early because it take them a long time to make the food.

It’s so very hard to find a good Harolds! This one is a keeper. It’s always clean and the staff is nice. The food is excellent. I never had a bad experience here. I highly recommend the wings. Two thumbs up

One of the Best Harolds Chicken! It is clean, the cashiers and very pleasant. Only con I have is they don’t take large orders over the phone. Other than that they would have gotten 5 stars!

As most have mentioned the atmosphere is clean, food fresh and polite employees/​professional. HOWEVER TODAY! Not so pleased whereas I would have rated 4.5 they get 3 stars I ordered three items and all three weren’t satisfied –as I’m use to. The fries were undercooked (3orders) two of the three orders I asked for Extra sauce and was giving what looked to be a regular amt. and for the small order of fries with sauce the young lady who stated that my order would be ready in 12min from my call in, was not ready with it and she was on her CELL phone and squirted two squirts (from restaurant size ketchup bottle) while on her nasty cell phone. Basically unprofessional and not paying Attention to detail. Once I got home my mom and dad very dissatisfied and called asked for manager and a young lady said she was the manager (after a brief pause) and stated that the amt on each order was the normal amount and that I should ask for heavy sauce. I said what’s the difference In Extra vs heavy because my parents chicken orders had regular amount when it was clearly to have been extra as ordered.
For the record that was not the manager it was the actual employee who prepared the to go order because they have a monitor with the managers listed. Besides before I mentioned my orders she told me what I ordered as she pretended to be manager and not employee. Anyways…
Go to the location, but check your order or make sure the owner is there he don’t play around with his employees unprofessionalism. If he was there he would have happily gave extra sauce and explained policy if it really is an amt of sauce policy. Harold’s is known for THE SAUCE!” What is the chicken and a small fry without Mild SAUCE?! Just chicken

Pretty standard Harold’s location, but has a cleaner look than most as its in the burbs.
They seem to not be all that organized when it gets packed.
4 piece mild was good and its right off of the expressway

This Harold’s is amazing. Unlike the shacks in the city they still smother the chicken in the sauce. The lobby is probably the nicest one I’ve ever seen!

My local Harold’s. Never had an unpleasant experience. Nice owners and workers. Clean and tidy. Call in or walk in, always ready to help you right as you walk in the door. The specials for Sun-​Tuesday are great.
