I came here with my family 11 years ago and really liked our stay so we decided to bring the family back. I booked online for 2÷18− 2⁄20. Received an email confirmation. Everything seemed fine. Until the morning of 2⁄18. I called the number to confirm our reservation. Disconnected. Thought maybe they were having phone issues so we headed out from Milpitas to South Lake Tahoe. Got there and couldn’t find a way into the parking lot as it was covered with fresh snow. Went around the back way to the front office. Door was locked. Knocked several times. Nothing. Walked around the place, looked into the rooms, all empty. We kept trying to call, number was disconnected. We finally gave up and drove down to the 7 – 11 down the street. The cashier told us the Lazy S has been closed for awhile. Geez wish we would have been informed. Why are they sending out email confirmations? Why are they even taking reservations? Needless to say, I’m monitoring my bank account to make sure I’m not charged. Really disappointed as we really liked this place when we stayed here 11 years ago.

To start of when arriving the manager took an hour and a half break so we had to wait in the cold to check in and was in no hurry to assist not only us but other groups that needed to check in. When we went to check we were forced to pay more money or leave since«his rates were to low when we booked» even though we had the reservations through his site months in advance. The room wreaked of Marijuana before we arrived and we’re charged a cleaning charged and won’t be refunded the managers response is «oh well». The bathroom light was also not working. The shower soaked the bathroom in water. Please avoid this hotel at ALLCOST.

The Lazy S Lodge is exactly the small, family-friendly type of place we like to stay with basic amenities and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s located away from the hustle and bustle of the casinos yet still close to shopping and restaurants, including walking distance to a hearty little Taqueria named Jalapeños. Our cottage room was a comfortable layout of living room, bedroom, bathroom and a small dinette/kitchen area with supplies. We really liked the retro details both in the room and outside. The pool was perfect for an afternoon swim and is surrounded by lawn, picnic tables and pretty landscaping. This cute motel exceeded our expectations. A swell time was had by all…

I think that I saw the Lazy S referred to as «boutique» lodgings. Uh, no. I would describe it as serviceable. Not heinous, not boutique. Definitely stuck in a time warp. Got a kick out of the fact that our room had a front AND back door. The front door had a screen door too, which made it feel more homey. The bathroom was tiny, pink sink and all. The room, however, was very spacious. We had a queen bed and a daybed and there was enough room for another bed too. Price was very reasonable, so if you’re going to be out and about and just need a clean place to sleep and shower, the Lazy S will suit your needs. Located on 89, about a mile north of the«Y.»

instead of giving up, we last minute decided to drive up to tahoe saturday night at 9 to avoid the storm. tagteamed called up probably 20 places and found Lazy S re: Mike B’s review. they were kind enough to leave a key under the doormat for us, and at $ 120 for a room that slept 5, it was hands down the best deal we found anywhere in south lake tahoe. we showed up at midnight, ordered a pizza from dominos, lit a fire, and had a couple of beers, before hitting the slopes the next day.

We stayed at the Lazy S for 3 nights in the middle of the ski season. Overall, this place fits into my value for money category(about $ 130 /night on the weekend, $ 110 mid week) for a 2 room ‘cottage’ which sleeps up to 4. Has a small kitchenette with the basics. Small(quite small) fridge, small TV. Fireplace(with some wood provided) and wall heating system with thermostat. Our room had a double & single bed in one room, and a fold out double futon(comfy) in the living area. The Lazy S is setout in a U shaped layout around a(outdoor) pool(empty in winter). with cottages set around it. It was probably built in the late 1960s(?) but seems to have been well maintained. Décor of the cottage we were in was classic wood panelling /wood theme. Furntiture was similiar style — wood(age varied 10 — 20 years old). Funcitonal, not always pretty. Good points: — clean, comfortable, great heating, great pricing — internet wifi(open access point… think this was from Lazy S). I have trouble doing without this :-) — friendly owners Not so good: — we were up the front, and could hear some road noise(especially snow clearing like equipment like sounds at midnight [strange, no new snow]) — noisy neighbors in adjoining unit till 1am. Walls did not seem to dull sound much. — Personally, I’m a little over 1960s wood panelling, but given this is cosmetic you can ignore this. So overall, this is the sort of place to stay if you want accomodation in South tahoe that is central, comfortable and you want to manage your $$. However, have your expectations set appropriately about the look and feel.
