Whats not to love about this trail. One of the best hikes, coming from Sacramento just to spend a day in Tahoe is worth it. Breathtaking views and scenery. The hike isnt too bad either, love walking on big rocks that mother nature carved out for us. The waterfall wasn’t flowing as much as last time but still jumped in one of the pools for a quick chiller. Freezing cold water even on a hot day haha.

We did the route from the base of horse tail falls in mid November in a drought year. Was hoping for snow but none to be found. The last 1000 feet up to the summit was brutal tallace and really hard on the knees. The views from the top were spectacular and there is a summit marker. I think it would have been a lot more fun in full snow.

Very Beautiful and worth it, I went here with a group of friend around May and this has a very breathtaking view of waterfalls, the hike was not difficult, about 7 miles up and down wear long pant, and good hiking shoes, some part is very slippery choose a nice sunny day, it is so worth it to enjoy a day away from the city with beautiful scene and fresh air

Easy access and moderate hike to Horsetail Falls. Trail can be tough to keep track of as you progress, but there are many people about so just ask. It’s just a beautiful area to hike and we plan to return again before summer ends. If you’re gonna climb to the top, get an early start and bring a good supply of water and or, filtration system to keep hydrated.
