This is a smaller, quaint old-fashioned ski and snowboard rental shop. The guy who works there was friendly and very helpful. You can get adult lift tickets to Sierra for $ 83(instead of $ 93 at Sierra). They blast rock music from the radio. There’s some interesting merchandise and a lot of wood-carved bears(the most unique aspect).

Great service. Decent prices. However, if you’re looking for high quality and newer equipment, this is probably not the best place. If you are beginner/intermediate, then it is probably a good place to go because you can avoid the lines at the hill and demo shops.

We rented snow shoes. The staff was amazing, but the owner is a big asshole. He was very rude on the phone and rude again in person to my gf. You would think out f all the people working there, he should be the last person to do that. Someone gotta give him some training in customer service, or he should just not handle customers.

Great experience! Very good prices, solid rental equipment. Had an amazing day snowshoeing up Maggies Peak thanks to a suggestion by Mountain Mike… though the trail was a bit treacherous due to ice in some sections! Was pleasantly surprised that the owner remembered my name when I came back to drop off my rentals. Would highly recommend!

We’ve now rented skis from them twice and both times were extremely happy with the costumer service and the product we rented. It’s a tiny little place and they don’t have the absolutely lowest prices, $ 26 for the performance ski rental versus about $ 21 – 25 other places, but for $ 5 bucks it’s worth supporting good employees and«the little guy!» Plus they know what they’re talking about, always a plus when renting gear.

We came here to pickup some snow shoes but they do rent many other equipments at a decent cost. The snow shoes were $ 14/day($ 15 after tax) on a Saturday. It’s a little tricky to find them but look for A LOT of brown carved bears outside which I plan to buy one sometime in the future. The bears run from $ 400 — $ 4000 depending on the size. The workers didn’t try to upsell at all. We came around 3pm(which is late), they let us borrow until the next day if we wanted to. They gave us a recommended trail nearby(Fallenleaf Lake) and we had a great time. The trail is about 10 minutes away, is about 1.5 hours to complete, and the lake was beautiful.

The business does exactly what it’s supposed to do. BF and I were able to rent snow boots for a day for only 8 dollars each. The prices are somewhat off from the website, so don’t rely on that. The customer service is friendly and they’re very knowledgable about the equipment they rent. EDIT: The owner just messaged me to let me know that he updated the website prices. Another reason why their customer service is excellent. Thank you!

This is now my go-to spot to rent ski’s on my way to SierraAtTahoe. Very quick in and out. And costs lot less than renting at the resort. Let it snow!

A neat little place with lots of carved bears and things. It’s one of the first places you see in Tahoe if you’re driving from Sacramento. The carvings are pretty expensive but they appear to be hand carved and would make great souvenirs and gifts.

Good place to rent ski equipment Small place but it’s packed with ski and snowboard stuff. Prices are great for all their rentals, only draw back is that they close at 6 pm

This rental place is great! Our large group of 8 went in to get skis and snowboards, and the guy was super nice and helpful. The prices are really competitive too – about $ 25 a day. He also taught all the first timers how to put on their gear. Would recommend to anyone looking to rent ski/snowboard gear.

If looking to rent any equipment for winter fun this is the place to go. It’s an owner operator store that offers the best service I’ve ever experience. Mike is extremely helpful and informative to everyone who walks in the door and has a great attitude. Rental rates are amazing and cheaper than all the other chain stores around and often offers free days! The equipment is good stuff and well maintained and has everything you need to ski, snowboard, play in the snow, and stay warm. Also if looking for bargain souvenirs this is the place to get them. Make sure to skip the chain rental stores and come here, you won’t regret it.

Spent the Holidays up in South Lake Tahoe. After a night of binging at the Forest Buffet — Harrah’s, what better way to burn off the 17 slices of prime rib than snowshoeing through some Tahoe trails? In my search of snowshoe rentals, out comes Snowshoe Thmopson’s, a place I found on Unilocal.4.5 Stars, solid reviews across the board, so why not? Snowshoes — $ 12/day, $ 11/day 2, $ 10/day 3. Staff — super laid back, friendly, knowledgeable. Kept my showshoes for a 2nd day, returned them on Christmas day(yes Snowshoe Thompson’s is open on Christmas) This was an excellent find on Unilocal

This place is fantastic! Todd was helpful, friendly, and knowledgable. They have lots of great gear to rent or buy at super reasonable prices. It’s a hop skip and jump from Heavenly and on the way to Sierra. Stop by… you will NOT be disappointed. Thanks Todd… see you next year!

This is a great place to rent your kids play boots for the snow, and very inexpensive. We paid 20 bux for snow boots for my son, snow outfit for my girl, and a sled for the day. Cheap, cheap, cheap. The guy that was working there the day we went was very laid back, and nice. We will be doing our buisness there again.
