Mountain Mike’s Tees and Skis

If looking to rent any equipment for winter fun this is the place to go. It’s an owner operator store that offers the best service I’ve ever experience. Mike is extremely helpful and informative to everyone who walks in the door and has a great attitude. Rental rates are amazing and cheaper than all the other chain stores around and often offers free days! The equipment is good stuff and well maintained. Also if looking for bargain souvenirs this is the place to get them. Make sure to skip the chain rental stores and come here, you won’t regret it.

I have not been to any other similar shops in South Lake Tahoe that would give me grounds to compare, but we had such a nice experience at this shop yesterday, that I am giving it five stars. The owner Mike was extremely pleasant and helpful, guiding us to several sections of the store where we could look at different priced tee-​shirts. Ended up buying one beautiful child’s size tee-​shirt — for only $ 11.95 — which is what we came looking for.

Mountain Mikes is one of the best rental shops in town! I’ve been going there for years! If you want quality service, quality equipment at a fair price, this is the place to go! It’s a small shop, you get the best attention, not just put in a cattle heard to get your boots and skiis. Mtn Mike’s also rents snow shoes and sleds, and bikes in ths summer.
Shop local = save money. Don’t waist precious time renting at the resorts!
And grab a shirt or two!

No idea if it was a bad night or the owner wasn’t in but this place is downright bad. I own my own snowboard gear but I’ve been with a lot beginner friends that need to rent. Usually people are extremely friendly and willing to help. The guy who worked tonight was a completely rude. The first thing he said when we walked in was «we need to hurry up cuz I got stuff to do at 8pm.» It was 715pm.
Then he refused to help with my friends’ boots fit and when she asked how to operate the boa system he talked to her like she was retarded for not knowing how to loosen the boot. Just wondering for a second here… why does he think everyone in the world wears boas and knows how to operate them cuz I sure as heck don’t wear those kind…
Anyway, he didn’t even measure the boots in the bindings to ensure a good fit either.
Seriously. I’ve never been to a place where the service was so. Freaking. BAD.

We always stop by Mountain Mike’s Tees & Skis whenever we’re in Lake Tahoe. They have everything you practically need in terms of gear rentals and little souvenirs, toiletries, etc for your stay. Prices are reasonable and staff are helpful.

Best chain for snowboard and snowshoe rentals!
Rental for snowshoes run for $ 12 a day, a steal since even the REI now increased their rates to $ 15 and even more for the second day. The staff here are friendly and you are in/​out the door within ten minutes. They just need your weight in order to assign the correct snowshoes and easy access, since they are located right down the street from the Heavenly gondolas.
In addition to snowshoes, snowboards, and skis, they also carry used gear for sale, as well as clothing and accessories for tourists who have forgotten necessary items for snow play (gloves, mitts, scarves, goggles, etc) and if you miss this location, they have another location right at the base of the mountain before 50 starts to climb called Snowshoe Thompson’s. Because they are connected, we were able to rent the snowshoes here and pick up the correct size there.
This is the second time we have rented from them without an issue and are happy customers!
