I’ve been going to see Ruben since I was about 11. I LOVE the way he does my hair. I do not trust anyone else but him, and anyone who knows me knows I cherish my hair. I’ve changed the color of my hair sooooo many times and every single time it has come out exactly the way I want it. I HIGHLY recommend anyone to come see him he is absolutely the best. I’m going on 10 years and counting being his client and I do not plan on changing anytime soon.

It’s just over a year later, and I visited Haute Shapes once again to have my hair cut and styled. I had one cut in between which really wreaked havoc with what Ruben accomplished last year. Never again! I will wait until we travel to LA to have my hair done no matter how long it grows. Looking forward to taking my son to Ruben to have his hair cut before high school grad. =)

Hands down Ruben is the best!!! Period! This place is very cozy and you feel as if you are at a home. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is very clean and comfortable. You can explain to Ruben how you want your hair and it comes out exactly how you imagined it! This guy is the BEST and you leave feeling your best! Make an appointment, it’s worth the wait!

I found Christina on lifebooker and got a deal for full set eyelash extension plus 2 refills for $ 100. Such a great deal! It took almost 4 hrs during the first appointment because she had to remove my old lashes. Came in at 2pm and left around 6pm. It was the longest eyelash extensions procedure I’ve ever had. However, Christina was such a fun and entertaining person to talk to, I didn’t even realize it has been 4 hrs. She took her time to work on me while making sure I was comfortable and entertained. Since I’m really picky with my lashes, I think she did an ok job. They started to fall off about a week later, but she did warned me about this because of the remover that she used. Anyway, I came back for a refill and this time it took almost 2 hrs… but they lasted longer. About 3 weeks I think. My third refill only took about an hr and they came out long and full. Overall, 3 stars for expertise plus 1 for the wonderful service and price. Her prices are very reasonable and she use Xtreme lash which is a good quality brand. I’d probably come back here because of the location, price, and CHRISTINA is just wonderful!

Just got my new eye-​lashes done with Christina! They are amazing! I had so much fun I didn’t want to go! I cannot believe how long they look, and they don’t weight at all! Thank you Christina for being the only place in South Pasadena to go for lashes.

Haute Shapes and Ruben is the best! I’ve been seeing Ruben for 18+ years and have been extremely happy with my cuts. He’s a gentle fellow with an artist’s touch. I enjoy our conversations about food, sports and life as much as I appreciate his professional work. My wife goes to him now as well and is very happy.

Every woman knows how difficult it is to find a new hair stylist. Well, I found Christina at Haute Shapes in So. Pasadena. She’s talented, has a great eye for style that will match your hair texture and she has a great personality too! I needed a color done and called at 1:15 p.m. I was sitting in her chair by 2 p.m. There’s street parking for 1 hr. so I suggest parking on the side streets for unlimited parking.

Love this place! I’ve been coming to Ruben for over 14 years. Must make an appointment and arrive on time. You will not be disappoint. Staff is professional and a pleasure to deal with.

I have been going here when it opened and I was with Ruben before that. What a great spot to get a really good cut, color or both. Ruben by far away is one of the best cutters I have ever seen. He has got it and he such a wonderful man, grace filled and it is always such a pleasure to take an hour and go get a hot fresh look and then be on my way. Men he is tops no kidding. Enjoy

This place is really nice, the people friendly and they do good work
I have VERY thick hair and lots of it, which makes it challenging to find a good salon/​stylist, the first time I went Cristina did my hair and I went for a longish bob, the second time was with Ruben and did layers… I was very pleased both times
If I remember correctly I paid $ 60 or maybe $ 65 not cheap but as I’m realizing now based on my bad experiences elsewhere, well worth it.

i’ve been going to ruben for about 16 years now and never have i been disappointed in my cut or color. in fact, ruben does my up-do’s for special occasions also. i’ve recommended haute shapes to soooo many people that i keep a stack of business cards in my purse (i should charge for referrals. just kidding!)
lastly, the entire staff is friendly =) and incredibly talented.

I’m only in LA for 6 months… can’t really go that long without a haircut! Around 6 of my co-​workers recommended Cristina to me, and being new to the entire state of California, I drove down to Pasadena for my cut and color appointment. I went on a Saturday morning, and she was just finishing someone up as I arrived, so I wasn’t waiting around at all!
Parking: street (I’d recommend earlier appointments so you know there’s parking) I’m not too sure what the residential streets look like around it, because I got a spot right across the street.
Location: its a very small place and I didnt even notice it was a hair salon (I didn’t notice the name, but I suppose its high up where I couldn’t see) so thank God the door said 1114 b/​c thats the only way I found it. The inside looks like a converted house/​living room. Very cute.
I asked to keep the length, and she actually did! This NEVER happens. with stylists! It still was long, but looked fresher (which is exactly what I wanted) My side bangs were re-​styled nicely and they’re much easier for me to maintain and trim myself now, without messing them up.
Had allover highlights done… I came in wanting one thing, and she recommended something else and It came out better than I could’ve imagined (Although, I’m already naturally blonde, and you cant really mess up a few blonder highlights).
Total Price; $ 115 for cut and full highlights… not what i thought for the LA area. i was HIGHLY impressed!
NOTE: they DO NOT take credit cards! Bring cash or check, or use the Wells Fargo ATM down the street!
And get some Jamba Juice across the street after you come out feeling fabulous! :)
