We’ve been going to the Farm Stand for quite awhile now and very much enjoy their fresh meats and locally-grown vegetables. They have a great beer and wine selection and a nice variety of other specialty food items. My biggest complaint about them has to do with service. While the folks behind the meat counter are always friendly and courteous, I cannot say the same about those that work the register. There have been a couple of instances where we’ve had to return items and both times we were met with rude and somewhat dismissive attitudes. I suppose I am a bit spoiled by Trader Joe’s no-questions-asked policy on returns, but I don’t expect such hostile resistance especially considering the amount of money that we spend there! One item that we returned was sold on the day of its expiration date. We were told that we should have checked the date before we bought it. Here’s a better idea: how about you check the dates and not sell it? So, I’m a bit on the edge with this business. They need to give some serious thought to streamlining the return process. When you sell food items, things are bound to go wrong. Don’t make it difficult for your customers or they may not come back.

LOVE this store, great meats, produce, cheese, wine… The PERFECT addition to this area. And when you think it can’t get any better… you can park right in front!

Oh, how I love The Farm Stand. My family has now been able to transition almost entirely to locally raised, grass-fed, pasture raised meats and eggs and don’t have to cross the bridge to do it! They stock quality sandwich bread from down the road, locals vegetables and products… I could go on and on. The shop is new and is continuing to add product, both sourced and house made. The staff is fantastic.

Wow! The Farm Stand is brimming with fresh, local produce, meats, dairy products, coffee, pastas, and more. The vibe inside is charming, the staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food is outstanding. You can really taste a difference in local, natural food– we’ve been feeling energized all week after buying our groceries here. Definitely a new regular shop for us!

Hooray! The Farm Stand is filling a huge gap in the South Portland food economy. The two neighboring big box grocery stores have precisely 0% locally raised meat and eggs and barely any vegetables or milk from nearby farms. The Farm Stand has a beautifully curated collection of food that makes it easy to trust the quality and just go home with food you know was raised, grown, harvested, and/or processed in a responsible way by people who live nearby. Despite what you might expect, prices are really reasonable. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and are ready & willing to teach us about our local food options. Many of them work or have worked in other areas of the food world as well(farmers, butchers, mushroom growers, chefs, fine dining management, musicians(that counts, right? What’s food without music?)) so you get a rich experience. Oh, and there’s wine & beer. One stop dinner shopping!

Great new addition to town. Ben behind the meat counter is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about all things meat. The rest of the offerings are fresh, local, and delicious. Soda and beer and wine are all fantastic as well. Easy parking and fun folks; this place rocks.

South Portland has a little secret. Ocean Ave. is now home to the Farm Stand. With all this talk about GMOs and chemicals, it’s great to know there’s a place nearby to find locally sourced meat and produce. The staff is friendly, helpful and seemly passionate about what they’re selling. I keep going back for eggs, apples, corn and tomatoes… They’ve started selling pies from Two Fat Cats… Delicious! Every time I go back it seems they have more items, and if that trend continues, the Farm Stand won’t remain a secret for long.

They have breads!!! And are adding items daily. I love this place. I just walked up to the counter tasked with getting beef fillet. I don’t eat it, I have no idea how to order it … And just said«I don’t eat this and I need two». He talked me through how to cook it, how it is cut, etc. Love it. Beer, meat, veggie burgers, salad fixings, corn and bread all local and fresh and the meat is pastured raised. I’m a happy girl.
