This place is just OK. My husband and I ordered the steak and chicken tacos. They were a bit dry and smokey. It is truly Tex Mex so do not expect Mexican. The place was clean and very nice but empty. It is in a horrible location and you have no idea it is there unless you are looking for it. The staff was very nice and my husband and I enjoyed ourselves.

This place is terrible. Sad representation of Mexican or tex-mex food. The food tastes like it’s out of a can or box. TRUSTME… PASSONTHISPLACE!

Always a refreshing experience, excellent Mexican cuisine, pleasant bar & waitstaff accommodating friendly service. This place is always creating a customer friendly atmosphere. Cantina has a multitude of flat screens that wallpaper the place, multiple pool tables, electronic dart game & various arcade games. There is an outdoor patio, Comedy & open mic night for karaōke, always DJ presence along with live music & drink specials daily. The Cantina has a wide variety of imported beers including craft beer selection, imported & domestic drafts. The food is always great & they even have Taco Tuesday with .99 cent tacos all day & evening, concerned kitchen staff & owner presence to ensure excellence in your experience at Southwest Cantina!

I went to an open mic night on Wed. night. I found the bar really pleasant and clean. Lots of hard wood and great acoustics. The help was really friendly as well as everyone in the bar. Great atmosphere The bartender was great, did a wonderful job. Lot’s of top shelf offers. Open mic night is amazing. Featuring soul, blues style as well as many others. The place is dripping with talent. Well worth a visit

This was quite honestly the worst food I’ve ever had. I haven’t seen nachos prepared with the squirt cheese in a restaurant until I came here. They tasted like they were bought at 711 and put on a plate. Nothing was fresh, everything was out of a can and disgusting. Service was terrible as our waitress was also a bartender. There is a groupon out there for this place today and I felt I had to warn the general public about making a big mistake eating here.

I was wrong when I wrote«Worst Mexican Restaurant» on Facebook after«eating» here. Southwest Cantina is the worst restaurant I have ever had the misfortune of dining at, period. Our group decided to go to SWC because we wanted Mexican and had never been there. Biggest mistake ever — there were red flags everywhere and we ignored them hoping things would improve, but they never did. 1) SWC used to be some sort of club several years ago and the business is located behind a building and is also near a warehouse — blink and you might miss it(but that’s great in this case!) I was sketched out about the location but I didn’t want to judge the restaurant by that alone. 2) When we went inside, there were about 4 people(all seated at the bar) even though it was around 6PM on a Sunday evening. One patron kept staring at us the majority of the time and it was both annoying and unsettling. 3) The bartender doubled as our server, and though she was friendly she seemed clueless about the dishes because it took forever to get our orders correct. She even tracked my fiancé and I down while we were playing darts to tell us that a steak & chicken burrito would be $ 2 extra and if my fiancé would just rather have one meat. This is after the orders were put in ten minutes ago. 4) The food was inedible, NOTFRESH like our server had repeatedly insisted, and quite frankly, laughable. We ordered the 2 sample platters as an appetizer and they consisted of store-bought jalapeño poppers, cheese sticks, flour tortillas with melted Kraft cheese that were touted as «quesadillas» and the wings of a baby sparrow that were passed off as «chicken wings» — see photo. Just GLANCING at the platters, one can tell these were more likely purchased from the freezer section at the Big Y, than made fresh in the kitchen. The crazy thing is it took THREE tries for the god forsaken platters to even make it to our table as the server and co-owner kept fumbling with them and going back into the kitchen. We should’ve known the food was terrible when the server told us that she usually gets the egg & cheese sandwich that is NOTONTHEMENU. My fiancé ordered the chicken burrito and the co-owner actually brought it out to us. The«burrito» was plopped onto a plate with nothing else. Skeptical, my fiancé cut it in half and it consisted of iceberg lettuce, a few shavings of what looked like steak, and THAT’S IT. no rice, beans, or cheese. He didn’t touch it. My friends ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and the taquitos. The refried beans even LOOKED like they were from a can and had a white coating on them that my friend said tasted like bacon fat.(She could not get rid of that taste from her mouth the rest of the night.) One bite of the taquito was all it took for my other friend to stop eating. 5) The patrons, in general, were just all shady. As we were«eating», a family came in with their young child who could not be more than five years old and they sat at the bar. One of the customers was loudly regaling them with a story and kept dropping the f-bomb. It was just astonishing the language that we, and the child, were forced to hear… and I’m very shocked that the parents didn’t even step in to prevent this. At one point, the co-owner came out and was obnoxiously loud and peppering HIS speech with the f-word! Really? How unprofessional is that? 6) The jukebox was SOLOUD we couldn’t have a proper conversation. When the music finally stopped, it was uncomfortably quiet since there were, at this point, 10 people in the restaurant including the bartender/server and co-owner. I can’t believe we even stayed this long. We kept trying to get our server’s attention but she was busy taking a ten-minute to-go order and couldn’t figure out how to do it on the computer. We found out one of our friends was placing an order and we frantically called and texted him telling him to «Abort! Abort!» When the server finally came by to ask how everything was, I said«Not good!» She seemed really surprised and taken aback by this comment and we shared with her all of the reasons above minus the offensive language by the customer and co-owner(which I now regret not sharing). After we complained about the food, she said, «This may be a stupid question, but would you like your food wrapped up?» UMM. NO, we don’t!!! AND, my food NEVEREVENCAMEOUT but I’m relieved… The worst part of all this… is that we overheard the server telling the foul-mouthed owner that we were unhappy with the food and all he said was, «Oh.» Didn’t come over to our table to apologize or talk to us; just ducked into the kitchen and the server had to hear it from us. At least, we only had to pay for our drinks — can’t really go wrong with pouring beer from a tap. Parting words — «Well, I hope you still come back for the karaōke.» NO, we are NEVER, EVER getting back together.

I work just down the street from this place and I’ve been in the mood for Mexican so I decided to try it for lunch today. We walked into an clean, nice looking bar/lounge with a couple of pool tables and a great big bar and NO other customers. When we asked the bartender if we could get lunch(it was about 12:30pm) she said that the chef has just walked out so no, we couldn’t get lunch. She looked kind of panicked, so I’m not sure if the chef just WALKEDOUT(i.e. quit) or if the owner is the chef and he went out to run an errand or what, but if you can’t serve lunch at 12:30pm during the week you won’t stay in business. I guess if you wanted a shot and a beer while you shoot pool it will be just fine though… *shrug* I doubt they will still be in business by the time I ever decide to try it again… Too bad, I prefer to support local independent restaurants instead of chains.

Great start for this place. They make everything fresh and it shows. My wife had a cheeseburger and really enjoyed it. I had the beef fajitas which came already made.(I kinda hate making them myself) the beef was cubed and marinated in a delicious sauce. Chips with salsa and a melted cheese were served prior to the meal on were complimentary. Salsa also made on site and delicious. Good selection of ice cold bottled and draft beer. We will spread the word and will be back soon. Give the a try, you will not be disappointed.
