Easily the best aquarium hobby shop in the pioneer valley. Healthy livestock and broad selection of common as well as hard to find varieties of fish. The owners are super experienced and passionate about the hobby and can provide assistance and advice on virtually anything aquarium related. This is now my exclusive source for supplies and livestock for my aquarium.

I’ve kept fish in years past, but It’s been a very long time since I’ve done so, and know that I will need to be brushed up on my fish-​keeping knowledge if I want to start a new tank. My partner and I have been toying with the idea of a tank now that we are settled into our new home, so on a whim one evening while passing by Exotic Fish and Pet in Southampton, we decided to go in.
The storefront is very pretty and clean; my first impression when walking in the door was of a clean, organized, streamlined store. I’ve been in a lot of smaller hobbyist fish stores in the Worcester area (where I’m from) and was never impressed. Tanks were always cloudy and the clerks were always rude or condescending. Not Exotic Fish and Pet! The store is really beautiful! Every tank was very clean and fish (which there were plenty of!) all seemed very happy and healthy! There was a variety of fish species to choose from and I was continually impressed with the store, which was A LOT bigger than I expected it to be from outside appearances!
We were looking at the large show tank they have at the back of the store which is full of adult discus fish (so beautiful!) and wanted to know more about them to see if they might be for us. We went to the front counter where there was an older gentleman with long gray hair pulled back in a ponytail; he had the air of being the owner. Despite the fact that it was the end of their business day and they were obviously getting ready to close up for the night, he was more than happy to talk with us about keeping discus fish. We stood around talking with him for at least 25 minutes and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! We got a mini education from him and I expect that that’s what you can typically expect from a visit to Exotic Fish and Pet! He obviously loves what he does and has been doing it for a long time! When we finally do set up a fish tank in our home, we will most definitely be dealing solely with Exotic Fish and Pet!

very good, clean well run and kept shop. Knowledgeable staff. Not cheap, but honestly not TOO far off internet prices and more than in keeping with brick and mortar shops. Also, it’s good to support local businesses. Good quality of fish. All of the ones I’ve bought have been very healthy. They also have a wide range of tanks, accessories and equipment, as well as ponds and other outdoor waterscapes.
The staff is obviously passionate and happy to share information and knowledge. If you ask a question, you can expect to get a full and informed opinion. I will continue to support this shop for all my needs for my tanks.

The staff is personable in a crotchety New England kind of way (I say this with love: I grew up in New England) and knowledgeable. Clean tanks, reasonably healthy fish for a pet store. Happy bettas kept in tanks and not in little jails bowls (a rare find!). Good selection of tropicals and koi; great tanks, a mite more expensive than the chains but worth it — supporting local businesses AND good pet care and local hobbyists.
Also, infinitely better than the alternative shops for fish around here.
