The food here is curiously addictive. I really like their chocolate hazelnut mousse! Stopped by last week and they happened to have my favourite cake, for sale by the slice; how lucky is that?(They usually sell it as a whole item.) I got a smidgin and sat for half an hour savoring every bite. I’ve also gotten the sforcesca flatbread from the espresso bar before — very tasty. Would definitely go back. In fact, it’s nearly a force of habit! I love the atmosphere, too. The staff behind the counter were very friendly to me when I stopped by – and they remembered me, even though I’d last come by nearly a year ago!

Had our first lunch in the Hamptons here. It was a beautiful day and we ate in the alley. How charming! I had a special which was a crab, fennel and orange salad with a citrus vinaigrette. It was perfect! My husband tried the eggplant ravioli. He really enjoyed that too. We would recommend this to anyone wanting an elegant meal in a great atmosphere.

Excellent service, delicious coffee and gelato! What more can you ask for?! My mom tends to stop for a glass of wine so we just grab a table and relax in the outdoor patio or inside bar. Love it!

Brunch is divine here. Bloody Mary’s are some of the best. INSALATADICARCIOFI shaved artichokes is delicate and perfect. Caprese with buffalo mozzarella is light and great mozzarella texture and taste. Crudo was fresh fluke with olive oil drizzle and a pinch of lemon. Orata fish with truffle vinaigrette was light juicy and cooked to perfection. Service was excellent ~

I thought Unilocalers would like to see how management responds to a negative review… by opening up a phony Unilocal account and private messaging me. How ignorant of them to try and hide behind the curtain of anonymity but its obvious it’s management by the response… and By the way San Ambroeus, even the low end people that you say are in Staten Island deserve not to be refused the public restroom as your staff did to me, a paying customer. Very despicable and unclassy of you to reach out to me this way. May the bad karma go right back to you as I see is in your other negative reviews. What you write is totally ignorant and of an uneducated small minded person. This is exactly what I copied and pasted that they wrote to me in private message: As I went to write a review about one of my favorite local spots I noticed the bizarre reviews you wrote. Then, I noticed, you were from Staten Island; so it all made sense. Manhattan restaurants are primarily for Manhattan residents and on weekends, those less fortunate from the«other» boroughs can come by. So please do us a favor and instead of writing unnecessary and untrue reviews, stay in Staten Island where you belong. There’s plenty of eateries there that service lower end clientele. We do not want or need your business. Cheers.

I have been to Saint Ambroeus in the past and always had an amazing experience. Unfortunately, my last trip was terrible. There were about 3 tables dining at the same time that I was dining at with one other friend. We came at an off peak time and the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered entrees, a few glasses of wine and dessert. Although the food was delicious, the service was absolutely terrible. Our waiter was extremely rude from the moment we walked in. When we followed up to ask for our first glass of wine, he said«Oh, you still want that?». Of course, we wanted it. Why would we order wine if we did not want it? For the prices you pay to dine in this restaurant, I would expect much better service. Absolutely terrible dining experience and we will never step foot in the restaurant again.

I love this place. Quite pricey but well worth it. The owners are amazing! The food is always fresh and delicious. The deserts are great too. Oh and I love popping into their Cappuccino bar for a very European experience and perfect cappuccino.

Take out. Cheesecake was good but needed a crust. Gelato was very rich and flavorful. French vanilla is the way to go. They wrapped the cheesecake like a present on a gold plate-I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.

ZEROZEROZERO… After being treated in an inhumane manner, I will NEVER return to this disrespectful eatery. I visited at 545pm on Monday September 21, 2015 with my husband and was treated so TERRIBLY that this is to alert anyone thinking of going… TOSTAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE!!! I thought I would cool off and didn’t write this until today but the HORRIBLE way they treated us needs to be broadcast. First of all, let me mention that I have been a customer of Gherardo Guarducci longer than he has been partners with Dimitri Pauli. I have also been friendly with the manager Enzo at the village location were I continue to frequent. My brother goes there everyday and knows the current staff well. So now is the reason one should NEVER come here. I entered and order a cappuccino thinking how lucky I am to stumble across their Southhampton location on my way back from Montauk. I ordered the beverage and while the latino barista was making it, I decided to use the restroom. I went toward the rear of the restaurant and found the door locked thinking I will wait for the person using it to come out. As everyone reading this would do. I ask an employee, who seemed to be the maitre d’, if there is more than one bathroom. He answers there are two… One for woman and one for men so I respond, «well I’ll go use the men’s since I need to go.» I ask him where it is and he tells me they are both behind the door that is obviously locked. He scurries away seemingly to go get the key while the barista shouts at me from a distance that perhaps someone is cleaning the bathroom and it will be a while. Let me tell you that they refused to unlock the door for me to use the restroom. I waited for five minutes, started drinking my cappuccino when the barista disappears. A blonde hostess also disappears and so there are two people left to help me. An old 80 year old Italian man with his back to me sitting at a counter and a young Italian employee that is waiting to serve customers some gelato. So I ask them in Italian if someone could please get the key. I tell them it in Italian, that it is necessary for me to use the restroom. The man who was closer to me, does not turn around and acknowledge me but the young lady hesitantly walks toward me. She seems embarrassed and tells me in Italian they do not open until 6pm. Did you ever hear of a customer being refused to use the restroom in this despicable manner. Gherardo should tell this old man and this blonde hostess that customers should not be refused the bathroom. I left without drinking and paying for my beverage because of the way I was blatantly refused something so basic yet extremely important. NOONE should be treated this way.

Sant Ambroeus… Extremely Disappointed I was looking forward to having dinner at this restaurant especially after reading many good things about it. I had friends coming in from out of town and I thought this would be a great choice to have a wonderful and memorable meal. We sat down and immediately loved the ambiance. Our waiter approached us like a Bull in a china shop. No welcome, or casual small talk to make us comfortable … just … Can I get anyone a drink to start and here are the specials. I immediately had the feeling he was pushing us out the door. This drinks came to the table which included a bottle of wine and he immediately attempted to take our order. We asked for a few minutes. He came back. He was rushing through that process and seemed annoyed. Our food came very quickly which sounds good but too quickly on a Saturday night with friends … Not appealing… I do not want to be rushed. I want to enjoy the company and the fine food. That said… As a foodie I did not hear anyone utter the words OMG this is delicious. You must try it. Our waiter never Checked in with us to ask how things were going and of course how is the food… and is there anything else I can do for you ?.. I then had to flag him down to point out that an insect was floating in my wife’s wine… He hastily grabbed the 1⁄3 full glass returned with a new empty glass and poured from the existing Bottle on our table. He said nothing… No apology(not that it’s anyone’s fault but the customer is always right)…but he said nothing. We decided not to have dessert and I was given the check within 20 seconds of my telling him we were done. In summary, the food was average and overpriced and it appears that if your not one of the locals, that they really don’t care if you come back… And they’re right … I won’t ! FS… Huntington New York

Amazing!!! I have 13 food allergies so I can never get dessert out. I was so excited when they told me that their sorbet only contained fruit, sugar, and water. It was amazing and they have like 10 flavors of sorbet to choose. I had raspberry and apricot and I was literally in heaven. They are the best and you should totally go!!!

Review only for the Gelato… small selection of flavors, but what they do have are very good, and obviously as good as their UES city location. The coffee and dark chocolate combination was excellent and so was the hazelnut. Also love that they have pear sorbet, which is very popular in Europe, but not in the U.S., so it’s hard to find. Definitely recommend you try the pear if you’ve never had it as it’s special. My favorite thing to do when I’m in the Hamptons is to come here, get a gelato and sit on one of the benches outside and watch life go by… along with every 5’2″ guy with a gold chain, revving his Ferrari as he cruises down Main Street looking for attention… it’s the little things that make life special.

We came in for a coffee and some ice cream. And their selection of sorbets is just amazing, unusual and there are few that are really rear to find in any other creamery: they have flavors such as apricot, peach, blueberry, banana, pear, raspberry, traditional strawberry and mango, coco etc. It’s hard to choose even 3. They have a full bar and you can share a glass of port or limoncello with your choice, also very good coffee selection, the barista will make you everything you want, but a bit more expensive than in Starbucks. Pretty cozy inside, whether you stand at the bar or sit next to the window. They have a small restaurant in the back, but we didn’t go there it was between meals time, just enjoyed our treats at the bar area for a good restaurant pricing. Example: a glass of limoncello was 12 $(a bottle costs the same in the average wine store) and a latte 4,50 $. Three scoops of sorbet– 7,50 $. Except their price policy– all the rest was awesomely great! But what else can you expect in Southampton?

I heard raving reviews about this place and was so excited to try it. My first day in Southampton, I swt my sights on dining here for dinner. At around 6pm, my date and myself arrived at the kind of disguised and cool side gitty that turned out to be a seemingly bougie restaurant. We had no reservation, but at only 6pm risked it. We approached thw hostess stand with a young foreign lady manning the stand. She immediately looked at us like we were from another planet, and it was awkward for about 15 seconds. I then proceeded to say, «2 please…» And she looked at us for another 10 seconds with a puzzled and disgusted look. She then said okay, no reservation? I told her no, and she mumbled back, in broken English, that we had to wait for the other hostess to come to deal with us. After about five whole minutes of standing at the podium with the foreign girl not in sight, another customer approached the podium. He waited with us for another three minutes. The same foreign girl emerged, and stared at all of us for another one whole minute. Next, she took care of the single gentleman and seated him. A couple of minutes later, another lady approached the hostess stand and seemed to be the head honcho of hostesses. She asked where we wanted to sit, and swiftly escorted us to our table. All of this confusion and weirdness could have so easily been brushed off and forgotten, if it wasnt for what happened NEXT!!! When we sat down, we kind of already had an idea of what we were going to order after looking at the online menu. The menu that was presented differed greatly from what was online, but whatever. So we eyed what was gucci. I ordered the tagliatelle with filet mignon and mushroom. My date was deciding between two pasta dishes. This is where the drama begins… Our waiter,(Sameto/Mateso??), came over to us after seeing we were done discussing, and plopped his pad out and said, «What you want.» He looked into my eyeballs with a blank stare and waited impatiently for me to speak up. I felt like I had been called on in my 7th grade English class, and asked for an in-depth analysis of the Shakespeare play I never read the night before. We overheard our dear waiter speak cordially, jokingly, and warmly to the surrounding guests seated 6 inches away from us, but we did not get the same. All of the other guests were automatically given the specials for the night. I asked him if there were specials, and he gave a sigh. He then proceeded to literally whisper and mumble what I assume were the specials, and continued to stare at me with his glossy fish eyes waiting for my answer. I ordered my tagliatelle. My date asked for his suggestion between the two choices, and he did not have one. Overall, he had a rude attitude I have never experienced before and I was kind of speechless. The waiter was not even listening. He gave no guidance, and suggested a dish she didnt even ask about. She ordered, confused, one of her first two choices. We wanted rosé, but he didnt even ask. I interjected and requested a glass. The bread, water, and rosé came. All of these three items were delicious. Compared to our neighboring guests, whos dishes legit all came out in five minutes, we were waiting fifteen to twenty. Our pastas arrived. My dates pasta was not the one she ordered. The waiter changed it without a scene. He brought back the correct pasta. We dug in. My pasta was so unimpressive I could have ordered the same thing from the pizza store on my block and had the same experience. It wasn’t bad, but it was just bland lame pasta that filled the void in my stomach. My date’s octopus pasta claimed to be a ragu, but it came out in straight up pomodoro. It also was not bad, a little better than the tagliatelle, but not awesome. Not one time did the waiter come over to ask how we were doing. I think that’s against the rules to not ask like at least once, come on. We finished, and did not have any conversation the whole time due to the killed vibe of the night by Tameno/Samena the unbelievable waiter. We looked over the dessert menu, nothing jumped out. We got the check, which came with two complimentary yummy chocolates. To sum it up: –Best part: the rosé/complimentary chocolates –Worst part: rude af waiter I would give this j another chance, maybe in their other locations. This j needs to ditch the ridiculously rude waiter. Ive dealt with rude waiters and was able to brush it off. Maybe they had a hard day, maybe I was annoying them. But this guy had it out for us. He succeeded in killing the vibe, and loved every second of it. I hope our despair gave him some sort of happiness to make up for the unhappiness that I experienced. My aura is off I need to cleanse after being in his presence.

The alley, wow. What a beautiful, dimly lit, gorgeous setting for a summer dinner. The space here added so much to the experience of dining here. I had heard the name Sant Ambroeus tossed around a lot, so I came here with high expectations. As for the food, all I can say is it didn’t impress me that much. To start I had the soup of the day, which that day was a black truffle lobster bisque. Everyone in my group had their appetizers come first, and I had to remind the waiter of my order, then my soup came 10 minutes later. For my meal, the Mezze Maniche, it was very average, nothing too special, something I could get at a pizza joint for about 1⁄3 of the price here. Overall you pay more for the experience here than for the food. The food was good, but closer to average, which the space was stunning. A place I would love to come again.

Adorable little bakery. The gelato is fantastic — I tried the banana one and it was quite lovely. They have so many flavors but they only let you sample two, so choose wisely! Service was alright — gelato girl wasn’t my favorite by any means.

A friend recommended that we get the gelato here. I ordered a scoop of chocolate and coffee on a sugar cone(the only options were sugar come or cup). The chocolate was supremely dark and rich. The coffee flavor was very strong. My only complaint was that the scoops were tiny, which made $ 4.50 for two scoops hurt a little bit.

Wow!!! Lousy lousy service! We were there for dessert and coffee at 9:30 last night! The owner said we could not have a table because we were only having coffee and dessert. She wanted us to stand and balance our coffee and dessert!!! Really!!! Come on… the dining room was not full, the three tables in front of her store were empty and about 12 tables down the alley were empty… I don’t care how good the food is when there is lousy service or lack of service it’s time to walk away!!! I I was forced to give one star or else I would have given no stars!

«Possibly One Of The Best Itaian Restaurants You’ll Ever Find» The food at this trendy Italian bistro is something to be savored. If you’ve traveled through Italy and sampled the flavors and bouquets, this is restaurant that will take your memories back. The food is prepared with love and then wait staff could not be more attentive. Whether you go there for a light bite or a full dinner, you will not be disappointed in any way. Take a street side table and people watch or sit inside. The prices are steep but the food is well worth it. Even if you’re not hungry, the menu will entice you. And who can say no to their wonderful gelato.

I can only speak to the bar/counter service, as I have never had the dining room experience. That said… Big fan. Easy to dismiss given the, at times, overly chic clientele(Ellesse and Le Coq Sportif still makes clothes?) who may vacation in St. Barth’s, but this place is a gem. Perfect Cappucino and Espresso drinks. The husband and wife team run a tight ship. Luis makes excellent drinks. Good pastries and gelato. Old world charm and service. Really nice. Bonus: open many days around Xmas and New Years.

Grossly overpriced but top quality. Espresso drinks are around $ 6 each. But I must say, they are pretty amazing cappuccinos — both hot and cold. Super dense, thick and creamy foam that only a well-trained barista can pull of. The jam thumprint cookies are delicious, and they have an assortment of other mini biscottis and Italian cookies. They also have a some pastries, cakes, gelato and cute tasty mini sandwiches. Ambiance is a brightly lit, bustling café which is actually fairly spacious, but it gets crazy crowded and hectic during the weekend brunch rush. They also have a really pretty dining room in the back.

I made reservations for dinner last January when I went to Southampton for the weekend. My table was ready with no wait at all, even with it being a Saturday evening. I liked the selection of breads that was offered when a server came to my table. Very elegant ambiance, definitely a romantic evening can be had here with your spouse/significant other, and I was by myself and still enjoyed it tremendously. I ordered the Sogliola, which is sauteed Lemon Sole. Without a doubt this was the most succulent piece of fish that I have ever had, the sauce was absolutely delicious and it was a nice sized portion. It was also probably the most expensive one too($ 43) but, it came with nothing else on the plate except for a cherry tomato, so I ordered a side of Brussel Sprouts($ 11), which was sauteed with fresh garlic, and was the perfect addition. The only reason I gave Sant Ambroeus 4 stars is that they were out of my favorite dessert, the Ricotta Cheescake, so I «settled» for the Tiramisu($ 12) and it was incredible. Well, this was definitely an expensive night out for me, but it was so well worth it. I will definitely be returning next January when I do my repeat Birthday weekend!
