Look at Kerby’s tryna be fancy… I see you! Got a Chicken Greek Salad, called it in. Spoke to an older gentleman who, I must tell you, was patient because my friend and I had some questions. Everybody doesn’t make the same Greek Salad so, I told him what I didn’t want on there, he took notes and repeated. Then, he told me everything that would be on there, including chickpeas. which not all Greek Salads have(see…). I thought that was a nice ‘extra’. Went to pick it up, for some reason he knew we were the ones who called in the salad order… It was spacious and clean(including the ladies room), they even had a shiny Red car on window display! I’ll be going back for sure, the food was really good!

Love the kerbys melt here. The chicken is nice and juicy while being crispy on the outside. The cheese is melted cheese but it’s so well cooked it feels like its a cheese sauce or cheese whizz. Delicious food and I get it frequently.

Horrible food and horrible customer service. Called to order a breakfast sandwich and asked to have my sausages deep fried do that they will be well done and the lady over the phone was rude and said no, i said why not she said because we don’t do that I said well can they make sure it’s well done I’m not trying to get sick eating half done food. She said ma’am there always well done I said no there not. Ending story I took my business elsewhere.

Came in for a quick dinner before heading off to work. I decided to try their chicken tender wrap and substituted pita in place of tortilla bread. I also asked for no tomatoes. 5 minutes later, out came my order. With tomatoes. I pointed this out to my server but said I could pick them of. No biggie, I suppose. Then, half-way through it, I realized that their was no ranch on the sandwich. The server said it came with lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese and ranch dressing. When she returned, I mentioned that I discovered that instead of removing the tomato, the cook left off the ranch. She apologized as she handed me my bill. No offer to remove the order or reduce the price. Really? I went to pay and the owner rang me up. He never bothered to ask how my meal was. I told him what happened. Instead of adjusting the bill, he decided to question me as to why I didn’t complain earlier. I told him what happened. He apologized. But he still charged me. That’s not a real apology in my book. The waitress failed but the owner should be ashamed of himself for failing to make it right. I gave him the chance. He chose to do nothing. No more visits for me here.

Solid four star establishment. The food… had its moments. Got a Greek skillet… the scrambled eggs surprised me(better than expected!) but the hashbrown in the skillet were soaked in butter/grease/liquid… My kid got an egg sandwich, requested it plain, and had to send it back due to cheese. The one they brought back got rave reviews. Their zucchini fries were excellent. When the waitress was made aware of the issues with the food, they were remedied right away and the manager had the skillet remade. The atmosphere… was kitschy. Cleaner than I expected(based on reviews), but on one side, the seat of the booth was sticky. Clean bathrooms. —-kid review— Manger is very nice and open. Mom works here and left her kid at the table and manger steps in to make sure everything is ok and feeds him which was very nice of him. A new waitress here nervous but getting used to it. And unexpected they put food in Togo bag without being told. Manger is very selfconcious. —-back to me — - Overall good experience. We will be back.

Okay I’m torn writing this review. I usually dine at the kerbys thats off of Northwestern highway but since this one was on the way i said why not. Now this isn’t the first time i went to this location. But this is the first time i actually looked at the Unilocal reviews. It doesn’t have as good of reviews as my usual one. I have had good food from here, so i didn’t let that deter me. I ordered my usual chili fries and coney dog. Now the coney was the standard all beef dog with onions, mustard and chili. Now this is what gets the 3 stars. It was good and consistent with the other locations. The chilli fries will not get higher than 1 star in my opinion. Idk how, but it was a whole different taste of chili, idk if they used old chili for my fries and fresh for my hot dog but taste was noticeable and disappointing. The hamburger in it look darker than usual and grossed me out. None the less I tossed it. I would have gotten a refund but I was to far away at the time. So this was a lesson for me to only go to the location I frequent. Food quality is the reason that the location on Northwestern highway is always packed and the location on telegraph is not.

I had the best salad the Michigan chicken salad. First off, I was skeptical to get it as a carryout. It seems that when I do that and get home, there is always something left out(not from there just in general). Well the salad even looked better than the picture, made beautifully. All the toppings were abundant and in its place, just looked picture perfect. It was one the best salads I ever had. The one salad feed three adults for $ 10. Big kudos to the coney island! I shall return.

Good food every time that I’ve been here. Not great. But good. I’m in here about once a week, prices are good. Comparing the price of the food here to fast food is a no brainer given the food here is just as fast and the quality is so much better. It is what it is, don’t expect a fillet and a Michelin experience and you will be delighted.

I like the convenience of this Coney’s location — just south of the busiest intersection in the Metro Detroit(Tel-Twelve). I’d had breakfast here before but had never reviewed this Coney with a «K». You gotta love the kitchy mural of downtown Detroit on the wall and the general automotive theme. This trip I jumped on the Veggie Skillet and loved it. Good selection of nicely sautéed ‘shrooms, onions, peppers with some tomatoes cut up and folded in as well… all on a bed of tasty hash browns topped with a couple of sunny sides in a warm ceramic skillet(nice touch). It was«right there». The only disappointment was the rye toast which was a poor imitation of rye bread… this is Southfield folks… You really can’t get away with calling this rye bread… not in this neighborhood. The service was adequate, the coffee strong and I walked away well satisfied for 10 bills with tip.

I love coney islands, and I don’t think I’ve ever been to this one before. I’ve driven by it a thousand times, and finally had the time to stop in and get a decent breakfast. Overall, the place is really cool on the inside! Usually, coney islands are pretty lame on décor, but this one had a car in the lobby! Holla! Plenty of automotive stuff, paintings, and hub caps on all the tables. Granted, the menus are all the same here, but I had a really good breakfast of two eggs, hash browns, toast and coffee. My server was awesome, and even though it took her forever to get me my bill(I had to ask, and thank goodness I wasn’t in a rush) but overall it was a good breakfast. The only downside was the bathrooms were kinda gross. Not unusable gross, but clearly had not been cleaned recently. They could have really used some serious attention. Doors were busted up and the hooks were coming off, toilet paper all over the floor and the bathroom counters were a hot mess. Overall a decent experience, and if I had more time in the morning, I wouldn’t mind picking up one of their breakfast bagels to go.

Stay away. Best to go somewhere else. I recently got the Kirby wrap and a side salad. The wrap was ok except the bugs I found in the pickles. Than goodness they were on the side but still gross. The salad gave me a case if food poison. Will never go there again

You can find somewhere better. My Greek salad was tasteless, I guess it was the dressing. The salad for some reason had a fishy taste… As though the chicken in it was cooked with fish. The waitress was inept, and got several things wrong. I will not go here again. Try Leo’s instead, if you want standard coney/Greek food.

I had the All American breakfast here. It was awesome but too much to eat for one. You get overdose on meat in the end: P I wasn’t hungry for the rest of the day after this. But definitely worth trying it once. My colleague who works around the area said the Chilli here is great, i didn’t get a chance to try it but i trust his suggestion after the breakfast i had here.

I can’t say I am fan but there was nothing poor about this visit to Kerby’s. Food was fresh and fast. The cooks actually know how to cook eggs to order. WI would have liked more variety on the menu but this place has the corner on the market in this area. Not many convenient places to stop along Telegraph for breakfast between Cranbrook and 696. We would stop again if in the area.

Ok… so based on the recommendation of another visitor to this establishment I tried the Gyro(spelled Yero by them) and it arrived cold and largely tasteless. My friend had a cheese burger and when asked he shrugged and said, «It’s a cheese burger». No special accolades for this place.

The breakfast slimes, angel food cake, doughnuts and coffee, white bread and gravy cannot build an enduring nation. ~Martin H. Fischer Detroiters love their Coney Islands the way Chicagoans crave ketchupless Italian beefs or hot dogs. Outsiders may not understand the allure drawing back residents for breakfast and lunch, day after day. The area has no lack of competition from fast food or good sit-down restaurants. Certainly, I’m not certain where the enchantment stems from. Is it the décor? Kerby’s, like most coneys I have visited, has a throwback to the 1970s or 1980s diner. Rows of uniform booths and a plastic bar illuminated under neon lights come right out of a TV sitcom circa 1984. This coney tends to be busy and loud, the seats well worn, and everything a touch tired but usually clean. What about the service? On that score, Kerby’s was a resounding disappointment. We deserve better than sitting in a booth staring forlorn at a menu, the window, or one of the three servers circulating with a half-full pot of coffee in hopes of being attended upon. No one likes to wait twenty minutes just to order a meal, especially at a time when taking extra long lunches is a surefire ticket to performance reviews. When the lunchtime rush hits, waiting times for the kitchen and servers become atrociously long. I could have slipped back and prepared my own hamburger and fries in a quarter of the time. My drink was refilled once in the full span, and with little else to do but succor myself on slowly melting ice, I was ready to walk out. So service can’t be why people come. Food, then, must be the saving grace of the Coney Island. Regular staples like breakfast entrees, sandwiches, and hamburgers round out the menu. I didn’t expect anything fancy and ventured to order a hamburger and side salad in lieu of fries on this visit. Pity I didn’t refer to earlier Unilocalers’ experiences because the squashed bun mopped up more grease than meat when it finally arrived. No dressing came with my salad. Nothing on the burger, either, though I hadn’t asked for any modifications there. I was fortunate enough to catch the server before she disappeared into the Telegraph Triangle and had the corrections made(with a sigh), then tucked into my slimy burger. Munch, munch, gag. The burger was a balmy 61′ and raining goo onto the sad lettuce leaf. I prefer my burgers like Hawaii, uniformly toasty-warm and moist. My waitress, when I saw her, was a nice gal who was clearly very harried by the work going on. I was caught again up at the register when I went to pay. How does it take ten minutes to check through three people? No one was paying with cash. There was no need to consult the farmer’s almanac and tally bills up on an abacus. Waiting and waiting when *clearly* we all need to get back to work was not a nice end to a mediocre meal. Sorry, Kerby, I’m kicking you to the kerb. If there’s magic in the coneys, I don’t see any proof of it here.

Food was good and service was quick. It’s a coney place folks and that’s what you get. Coney food with a coney atmosphere. I think some peole need to lower their standards a bit.

I’ve been to this Kerby’s twice and that was plenty enough. The first time I came with a coworker. We had a time limit, so we obviously wanted to be in and out. The waitress didn’t come to us for a few minutes after being seated because she was pulling double-duty as waitress and busgirl. We put in our drink order along with our lunch order after the waitress finally came to our table. We didn’t get our drinks for quite a while, so I ended up having to flag the waitress and ask where where they were, which was about 10 minutes after sitting down. Our food came out about 15 minutes after ordering, which seemed a little unreasonable because the place was dead and we got quick fare. My burger was overcooked yet lukewarm… try to figure that one out. My friend said her pita was just okay, but not very flavorful. Our cups stayed empty because the waitress never came back after dropping our food off, one of my big restaurant pet peeves. The waitress never gave us the bill either, so when we were done we just walked to the front to get cashed out. Overall, not good food and not good service. The second time I came to this Kerby’s I was alone. I was greeted by friendly waitresses and I took a seat. When the waitress came over, I ordered my meal along with my drink because, again, I only had about 45 minutes for my lunch. My burger and fries came out just the way I ordered, which was great. The cheeseburger tasted fresh and juicy and the fries were well-done and crispy. My water went unfilled again. These waitresses must think that after the food has been dropped off that their work is done! My annoyance with this visit didn’t start until I went to cash out. The waitress did not drop the bill off with me, so I had to walk up to the front to cash out. My waitress printed my bill, $ 5.74 + tax. When the cashier finally stopped filling napkins(even though she knew I was waiting to pay) she asked me what I’d like to leave as a tip. I said $ 3. Then she scanned my receipt and somehow the total was $ 16.74! I stopped her before she swiped my card and pointed out that my total was much less. Thus began the public bickering. «You put the other people’s Greek salad on her order! Who paid for the Greek salad? Okay, if they paid then why is it on her bill?» All the while, I’m standing there about to be late to work. The cashier had to find a manager to void out the original, incorrect bill. He then came up and raised his voice to the cashier, who was obviously having a hard time explaining what happened. They tried to re-ring me, but then the total was still incorrect, which I AGAIN had to point out to them. After standing at their cash register for 20 minutes, I finally was able to pay the correct total and gratuity and get the hell out of there. If they hadn’t kept my credit card behind the counter, I was liable to walk out on them. I won’t go back. Things are just way too consistently bad here.

I still don’t really understand the whole concept behind having a restaurant that serves mediocre hamburgers, hot dogs, and Greek food. I have come to understand that this is a tradition in Metro Detroit, but I find it difficult to believe that anyone really thinks this is good food. For others it seems that this is the place that drunk people flock to in the wee hours in order to get a greasy fix. .. . Ok, that make sense, now why are people here at lunch and dinner?! Trust me I have given Kerby’s a lot of chances. Not only did I live down the street for a year, I also work across the street. I have had the chicken and rice soup, it was ok. The Greek salad is not that great. The burger I had was not very good. The breakfast is available all day, that is a plus for a lot of people. But I don’t like breakfast, and I don’t need it served all day. I guess I just don’t understand the appeal, and the prices, the food, the service were all«meh» for me.

YUCK!!! Ok that ends my opionion about this Kerbys, now onto the facts. The management needs a swift kick! We ordered a greek salad and my fiancé ordered a coney dog with fries. The fries came out almost raw and cold. How in the heezy do you screw up fries? My salad… sigh…was gross! The pita bread was recycled from someone elses salad, when I unfolded it, there was beet juice and wilted lettuce there. There was something floating in my soda. We were so disgusted that we told our waitress and got ready to leave. The witch of a manager had this evil look on her face and asked the waitress why weren’t we going to pay for our meal while staring us down. It took all good will I had in me not to leap across that counter and make her eat the«used» pita bread. Needless to say I will NOT be back nor will I recommend this to a friend.
