Marty’s Cookies

This is a bitter sweet review for me. Marty’s Cookies use to be located in Downtown Birmingham and was home to some of the most delicious cookies ever. Not only were the cookies big and sold in tons of great flavors like White Chocolate Cherry and Oatmeal Raisin Walnut but the store itself was adorable. Everything was brightly painted and decorated and you really felt like it was mini bakery just for you.
So you can imagine how devastated I was when the bakery went out of business/​disappeared about 5 or 6 years ago and how excited I was when I recently saw that Marty’s had been resurrected in Southfield. Little did I know that this resurrection was of such a lesser form than the original.
The new Marty’s is hard to find because oh thats right it is located inside of a bagel shop. It doesn’t even have a real store of its own which makes ordering inside an ordeal. You go inside and it is super cramped and your immediately confused by who you should be ordering bagels from and who would be the person for cookies. Once I got over that I figured that if the cookies were as delicious as they once were then all would be forgiven.
Sadly they were a lesser imitation of their former glory. I went with chocolate chip, white chocolate cherry, and oatmeal chocolate chip and they all just tasted like something was missing. Don’t get me wrong none of them were gross but they just weren’t anything special and sadly they were a little bit dry.
So to sum up if you never went to the Marty’s in Birmingham you might think these cookies are OK to pretty good but if your like me and know what they once were then save yourself the depression and go across the street for a potbelly sugar cookie.
