A group from work decided to check out Touch of Honey on a whim. Someone in the office claimed to have gone there and that it was fabulous. We quickly learned that her word was hearsay and we will never take her advice on lunch again. I’m sort of torn on this one because the people running the place really are nice and you can tell they want it to work, but they have a lot to learn! The ribs were very fatty and rubbery, most people that ordered them couldn’t finish them and a few people were sick afterwards. Most of the side dishes just weren’t that good. Soul food has to have amazing mac n cheese and this wasn’t. It had clearly been around too long and it didn’t have much in the way of flavor. The greens didn’t have any flavor added, just slightly cooked down plain greens. I’m not even sure what happened with the beans and rice. I heard the spaghetti was really good, but I didn’t try it. I luckily ordered the bbq dipped chicken and it was decent. It is just a wing section so prepare to get messy. I will however give them props for their okra! That was some of the best fried okra I’ve ever had! They hand bread it as it’s ordered so the coating isn’t too thick and whatever seasoning they are using on it really comes through. I will probably try this place one more time, and I hope to be able to write a more favorable review. You can tell this couple really wants to do it right, but cutting corners won’t keep the doors open. If you decide to roll the dice here, call ahead to see what’s on the menu. They only make a few items per day and the menu changes every day. And it’s pretty much carry out as they only have 8 seats.
