Unfortunately, the Southlake location is closed for renovations. It is worth it to visit any of the other DFW locations.

FYI: This is Southwestern cuisine, not Mexican. I’ve been wanting to try this place out… well, for about a year+, but just haven’t had a chance. Finally, wifey & I had a free afternoon, so we popped in for lunch. At first glance, Blue Mesa is definitely not what I expected. I was picturing an upscale Mexican joint, similar to a Mi Cocina, or Uncle Julios. Nope, this is Southwestern, and more like a Qdoba as far as ambiance. Plastic chairs at the tables, and a bar that is similar to a portable one at a wedding reception, that would even be inferior in size to midgets. We almost walked out, but I had to at least try the food. Disappointed in the vibe, I thought a margarita would make me feel more lively, and it did help. A bit. Our server recommended one of the top shelf concoctions, and it was indeed, quite good! Wifey had some jalapeño, ginger margarita, and it wasn’t too shabby either, considering I’m not big on jalapenos. The food: I opted for the blue corn enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. Jesus F’n Christ, this was some damn good sauce, and the blue corn tortillas were absolutely amazing! I usually don’t eat beans, but black beans are good for you, and I’m kinda’ a nut about health, so I ate every last one. Very good! Don’t come here for a buzzing bar, or cool vibe. Do come for for really good food, and good enough service. Prices are kinda’ steep, but I can make an exception on occasion. I’ll return.

I was truly disappointed with the service I received at this location. When we arrived the restaurant was not busy so we were quickly shown to our table. We began looking over the menu. When our waitress arrived she took our order for an appetizer, we had a few questions about the Ground Beef Chorizo. She was unsure so she had to go to the back and ask questions. After going back a forth at least twice the manager came over and told us that they did not carry ground beef for the queso and the he would chop up fajita meat for the queso. Then he went to the back and came back to our table and told us he had a little ground beef in the back and would cook it up for us. So we ordered queso. Our waitress returned for our drink order. She explained that the drinks were fresh and only drink cas a typical margarita. We ordered our drinks and continued to ask quesitons about the menu. She quickly told my friend that the meal she wanted was no longer on the menu. Then I ordered while my friend looked over the menu. When my friend asked another question about the menu the waitress stated«You must be confused you wanted MEXICAN and this is SOUTHWESTERN». We were shocked at her response. She failed to explain about Blue Mesa since it was my first time. When our food arrived she checked on us one time and then we requested our check. When 2 of the 3 checks were ready she grabbed them off the table and when I told her they all weren’t ready she said she would return. Overall, after this experience I would not return to this location. i did not leave with a feeling of satisfaction.

I decided to give this place a try and I’m sorry I did. The food was okay but service was horrible, our waitress never gave us time to look at the menu and kept rushing us to order, she didn’t have much knowledge about the menu either. We wanted to start off with queso with beef and she told us they don’t carry ground beef. The manager came out a few minutes later and told us he found some beef even though they don’t carry it. How do you all of a sudden find beef? I later placed my order and asked for a substitution and the waitress told me: «you must be confused this is a southwestern restaurant not a Mexican restaurant» We just wanted to get out of there fast, my experience wasn’t great and I don’t think I will ever go back to BM.

I was not a happy customer… My friends and I were looking for a great place to eat and be merry. Blue Mesa was our second choice and we made a bad decision! The waitress was a bug a boo! She did not give us adequate time to review the menu for drinks or food. She was rushing us and the restaurant wasn’t even crowded. I had a taste for Queso with ground beef. The menu had Queso with ground beef and chorizo. One of friends cannot eat pork for dietary reasons so I asked the waitress if we could just have it with beef. She stated no, and then went to go ask the kitchen. The manager then came to the table and said that the meat is combined and he could chop some fajita beef in the Queso. I said okay, so when he brought the Queso to the table he said that he found some ground beef? I hope they didn’t deceive us and put the ground beef/chorizo mix in our Queso. So when we were ordering our dinner we had a question about several items on the menu. The waitress made a RUDE comment stating«y’all are confused. I think you wanted Mexican food, but we serve Southwestern food» Who says that to a customer? I ordered the combination nachos which were disgusting! I will never visit another Blue Mesa location.

Craig is an Awesome manager! He takes personal pride in this restaurant and it shows! He’s also personable. I overheard him with another customer asking about the son and recalling the last time they were in. Lana was our server. Sweet but needs to shadow a few more experienced people. Lindsey second server and was awesome. I wish I lived closer to this location as I’d go every weekend for brunch. The have a special allergy menu you can ask for and were very accommodating with my dairy allergy.

Great concept of tex mex brunch, but the food there didn’t look fresh. Menu had a lot of items but not good as it looked. Melting ice cream, stale salad bar, Luke warm buffet bar :(two stars only because of the unlimited mimosas :)

Only had a couple of beers at the bar with chips and salsa. Service was awesome. Sweet Potato chips and salsa was fantastic. I look forward to getting back there to try the menu. The directions to Bass Pro given by the bartender was right on. Thanks!

This Blue Mesa location definitely sucks compared to the Fort Worth location. Their Sunday brunch is SOSMALL with not very many options compared to FTW but it is still the same price at $ 18 a person. Also, they are very secretive about their happy hour specials. They will not offer you the free quesadilla that comes with the happy hour, instead you have to ask for it. How are people supposed to know that their $ 4 margarita comes with a free quesadilla if they’ve never been there before!!! if you had to choose, go to the Fort Worth Location. Its way better and there are more people there(which proves how much more awesome they are)

Napoleon Dynamite expressed it best: «Ugh! Gross!» I’ve never been impressed by Blue Mesa’s flavorless Southwest-inspired food but I’ve been looking for an opportunity to give them another try since so many others recommend it. Based on my recent brunch experience at Blue Mesa, I’m swearing off this restaurant forever. Their brunch buffet line was populated by carb-heavy, cheese-loaded dishes like potatoes casseroles and enchiladas, none of them tasting very good. Yes, even the blue corn cheese enchiladas that everybody raved about tasted like overheated microwaved crap. Jawing at tasteless, gummy food, I was neither inspired nor inclined to try seconds at the buffet line. I suppose if I had a hangover like nearly half the patrons staggering through the front door, the food would be an afterthought to the unlimited amount of mimosas I could drink. And I think that’s probably the large part of the appeal. Bottomless mimosas go with that $ 18.95 price tag and on every table I looked were numerous glasses of the stuff. Is there a secret ingredient in the mimosas that made the food taste good? I’ll never know. The Southlake location of Blue Mesa suffers from poor layout; many a time the buffet line wrapping around the bar area prevented entrance from the front doors. Many a collision occurred from the kitchen to the front of the restaurant including the patio, resulting in several bottlenecks that disrupted tableside service. If your table happens to be at one of these bottlenecks, don’t expect any privacy – you’ll be greatly annoyed by the traffic stopping and going by you. Luckily, our server kept up with refills and clearing, and was very amiable throughout our visit. She was the only shining light in an otherwise very disappointing experience. Vote for Pedro. Don’t vote for Blue Mesa.

A couple of visits ago, this would have been at least a 4 star review but time reveals everything. Let’s start with the good, shall we? An omelet station. What could be better? Those little blue enchilada things? Delicious. All you can drink mimosas?! How could this be any less than 5 stars?!! I genuinely hate crowds, so I am always trying to get into Blue Mesa before the crowd hits. Oddly, we still seem to find a lot of the dishes to be lukewarm. Even my favorite little blue enchilada things will have that sort of awful cheese quality where you know it was all melty and delicious about ten minutes ago, but now it’s returning to it’s hardened state. Blech. Also, unless you are Super Badass Buffet Man 5000 with an unfillable stomach, the average person isn’t going to eat their moneys worth here. But if you are a super boozer like myself, you will drink it. So that’s a plus. I would definitely give it a shot, because when they are on, it’s amazing. But an off day is a huge bummer. I will say the Dallas location has never had an off day in the times I’ve been out there, so maybe it is all about location, location, location.

Do they have a buffet every day? I went on a Friday lunch with a group of colleagues, and they had a lunch buffet. This was great, because I usually don’t like some of the sides that come with Blue Mesa’s entrees, so this way I could stick to what I did like. The buffet never ran low on anything, and the fajitas and enchiladas were excellent. They are confined to a small space, and I think that forces them to use smaller, «flimsier» chairs. I go about 220 lbs, and if I were any bigger, I don’t think I would have put too much faith in that chair to hold me up for an hour.

I really liked the Sunday Brunch buffet which includes soft drinks, mimosas etc.(It doesn’t cover most alcoholic drinks). Their buffet included a hefty dosing of most regular breakfast fare, has an omelet bar with so many ingredients and then goes nuts with the Mexican food. Great tamales in 2 flavors, mounds of carne asada, chicken, carnitas, guacamole, multiple types of salsas. Definitely worth trying at least once. We were going to try sushi but instead chose this place and it was very pleasant even at around 17.99 per person. I was still so full, I didn’t have to eat dinner.

Great food, friendly service, and one of the best happy hours in town. I love coming to Blue Mesa for happy hour, sitting on the patio(when it is not too hot of course) and enjoying a blue margarita and complimentary chips, salsa, nachos, and quesadillas. Happy hour provides plenty of free food to satisfy you for dinner, but it is worth ordering off the full menu. Blue Mesa is not your typical Southwestern restaurant. I feel like most Southwestern restaurants merely Americanize Mexican food, but Blue Mesa starts from scratch and creates something truly Southwestern and delicious.

My first visit to Blue Mesa Grill was a few years ago. I had their lunch buffet and was impressed with their spin on enchiladas. I’ve been back three times in the last three months and have enjoyed the meals and mojitos and margaritas. For appetizers we always get queso and chips. The queso is made with white cheese and is top notch. Last time we got the Queso flight, with three kinds: Classic, Wild Mushroom, Ground Beef-Chorizo. We like the beef-chorizo the best, but all were good. We’ve had the Santa Fe Sampler — Santa Fe Sampler(Wild mushroom tamalito, beef tenderloin taquitos, black bean and roasted corn tostadita and spice rubbed shrimp on corn pancakes) The shrimp on corn pancakes was the winner in this appetizer. Another visit I had the Mixed Grill Churrascaritas(Skewers of jumbo shrimp, smoked pepper sausage, red chile glazed steak and ginger-chipotle chicken. Served with Mesa Panna Bread, Chimayo market corn, guacamole and mango relish.) This was very good and the corn was heavenly. My daughter got the adobe pie, which she thought was ok. She’s not a fan of the chile sauce. The service is good. I enjoyed the patio dining last trip.

Have been here quite a few times but came to check out the Sunday Brunch for Easter. Got there at 10:45am and had to wait about 45 minutes before we could get a seat. Not too bad for Easter Sunday. The line for the buffet was a little slow, took about 15 minutes. Seems like it could have been organized a little better, but worth the wait. Had plenty of varieties of food and dessert. Migas, enchiladas, Fajitas, sausage, and plenty more. Also free mimosas and a couple other alcoholic drinks.

The Sunday brunch buffet is actually pretty good here! I have to say, for someone who doesn’t usually do buffets, I’m impressed. The food is tasty and looks authentic enough. I couldn’t try every single item, which I was sad about but I still left Blue Mesa full and content. The bottomless mimosas probably helped a bit, too! Our waiter was lucky that he wasn’t full-on servicing our table because if he did he wouldn’t have received a very good tip. I think he may have been the only server, though, so I can’t be too mad. $ 18 for a good Tex-Mex brunch? Still a little pricey for me, but I’d still do it again.

I really like Blue Mesa Grill. I wouldn’t eat it every day, but it’s pretty damn tasty. The weekend brunch buffet with unlimited alcohol is a great deal and sign up for their Chile club and get a free buffet for your birthday. I am sad that some of their margaritas they used to offer are no longer on their menu. Yes, you could order them anyway, but they were the special swirl kind where you had to have pre-made ingredients.

I came here for a weekend lunch with a friend that I’m starting law school with in the fall. I hadn’t been here for a long time so I wondered whether everything was as delicious as I’d remembered. My friend and I sat down and were immediately treated with their delicious sweet potato chips and salsa. I know that the sweet potato chip falls more into southwestern cuisine, but if only the myriad of Tex-Mex restaurants in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area could adopt these; they are so much better than your average corn tortilla chip. For our lunch I ordered the Spa Chicken & Spinach Enchiladas while my friend ordered a bowl of their tortilla soup. For less than 400 calories, I was treated to a savory dish of delicious enchiladas, grilled sweet potatoes, and asparagus. Who says you have to sacrifice taste when you lower the calorie count? I could definitely eat something like this more often. As for my friend’s tortilla soup, it looked very tasty and she said that it is the best thing to order when she comes here. To top off a more than satisfactory lunch, our service was fantastic; our waitress kept attentively refilling our drinks and was very kind and helpful when we had questions in our ordering. I can’t believe I hadn’t been back here sooner. I’ll definitely keep this place on my short list of places to eat before I move down to Austin.
