Went to Kobeya and it has been about 3 years I think since the other time we had gone. Not entirely impressed but it wasn’t bad. Well, this time it was TERRIBLE!!! AWFUL The water tasted like it came from the toilet, but we had hibachi how can that go wrong you ask? Well, we were entertained of course too bad the rice was so disgusting — the garlic was more than over powering i think we all almost threw up. it was sticky, and basically the worst food ever. Ginger and garlic was all anyone could taste — not worth going. will never go back and will not ever recommend.

We’ve gone to this place for years for some tasty hibachi and a great show. Kobeya is great place for a celebration or a Christmas gathering. Its on the pricier side, so we only go for special occasions. The ambiance is ranges here, if you can believe that. You can sit in the cute little sushi bar area for a quiet, more romantic evening. Over at the bar for a chill setting, or back at the hibachi tables for rowdy and fun entertainment. These tables sit eight and they will pair you with other patrons though if you don’t fill up the table. Loved the sushi the last time we were there. We started with the spicy tuna roll and spicy salmon roll. Both were perfect! For dinner, my mom and I shared the scallops, lobster and fillet.(It was a celebration after all!). With a shared meal you will only receive one salad and soup, unless you pay the split meal fee of around eight dollars. We had a sweet waitress who snuck us a salad and soup free of charge. Our hibachi chef was hilarious and we loved him. He convinced us to do sake bombs(.okay, really it didn’t take much convincing), helped play jingle bells on his instruments of salt and pepper shakers while we sang, and all over showed us a great time while cooking us a delicious meal. The veggies– AWESOME. Fresh and cooked perfectly with a bit of crunch. The seafood was wonderful, with not a hit of fishiness. Really the only downfall of this place is the price… We’ll be back as always! For a graduation, or birthday, or something else when our pocketbook has recovered!

It’s always oddly warm in the restaurant(Because of the hibachis? Doubtful. It’s warm even when there’s no one there.) You’ll notice an odd smell when you walk in. Hopefully it’s not rotting food ingredients. The raw foods aren’t fresh– stick to ordering cooked things and hope for the best.

I have been here 2x now and my last visit was 06/05/2015. Service is great. Cleanliness is a above par. Hibachi Chefs are good. Food is mediocre. Ginger salads are watery. Soup is bland. Fried Rice is decent and needed a bit more soy sauce. Steak was flavorful and cooker perfect medium rare. Overall Experience is a bit below expected. But that is primarily due the cost of the food. Wouldn’t want to go back again.

If I could give this place a zero that’s what it would be. My daughter wanted to go here for hibachi dinner for her birthday, usually entertaining… right? Not even close. They took our order and once the chef showed up to the table, already pissed off I might add. What he had was all wrong. Once he got done yelling at the waitress she pointed out that she had it right and he had put the food together wrong. He left our rice burning on the grill while he disappeared for 15 minutes to attempt to find the proper ingredients for the food that we ordered. When he returned to our burned rice which he promptly threw on all of our plates and any other flat surface around. He still didn’t have the order correct but I was afraid to say anything because of the knife we was waving around at this point. There was zero entertainment from that point just some groaning and overcooking the crap out of everything. The chef had everyone in the restaurant on edge by the end of the meal, if you could call it that, and the entire place was silent at this point. Terrible, I actually felt threatened by the chef. Do not go to this place it is horrific and could actually be dangerous, its only a matter of time before this guy goes postal!

Fish was not good. The sashimi was cut very thick and the rolls did not taste good. The fire roll consisted of a bowl of lighter fluid — we ought their signature fire roll would be presented nicely.

Solid O-KAY joint. Maybe above 3 stars, for the cool hibachi chef. I probably wouldn’t have come here because it’s far from where I live, but we ventured a trip for a Mother’s Day gathering. Got the filet mignon lunch, came with choice of either soup or salad. Soup was basically salted water but I anticipated as much. There were a few slivers of imitation crab meat, which I thought was cute. The chef came in with his bag of tricks, flipping and juggling eggs and beating rice and whatnot. It’s always amusing to watch, and he catered to the little kids sitting at the table with us as well. Fried rice was a little dry, and my filet came out more medium than medium rare but again, my standards weren’t that high. The veggies had good high-heat roasted flavor though. For $ 16.00 I think overall my experience was alright. Located in the middle of a busting Southlake shopping center, Kobeya could easily get lost among all the other dining cuisine options available. It is definitely there if you want some Japanese hibachi though!

What a great place! I’m a huge hibachi fans and found it to be about the same everywhere I’ve been, except for Kobeya ! I organized a birthday dinner for my sister here and am so glad that I did ! The wait staff was very courteous to our group throughout the night. The sushi was AMAAAZZZE! I could taste a huge difference in quality of the fish and the crab. I ordered the scallops and the filet and the filet was melt in your mouth !! I’m so excited to come back, this will def be a regular for me when I want hibachi. And did I mention they play a cute little drum and have a fun hat for birthdays ?? Great time !!

The customer service wasn’t all that great but the food was good. Customer service is key to making guest feel welcomed and at home. I went and felt rushed although I was the only customer at the time.

The Kobeya website says they are open until 11:00 pm. The door says 10:30. We were confused when we arrived at 10:05 and the doors were locked. The restaurant really should honor the hours posted online. I am not sure that we’ll try to come out again.

I went back and forth on whether to give 2 or 3 stars here because this place definitely has some pluses that set them apart from other local hibachi spots. However, there were elements to my visit that negatively outweighed the positive components. Pluses: 1. They stir-fry their hibachi vegetables in ginger sauce, unlike most hibachi places that only use butter and sometimes garlic. The ginger sauce added a different element to the dish and it was pleasing 2. Their hibachi shrimp are stir fried in a zesty combination of teriyaki, lemon juice, soy sauce and garlic. I really enjoyed the flavors involved/combined. Most hibachi spots use garlic, lemon and butter only 3. $ 5 sushi rolls. I always like to enter my hibachi experiences with sushi first while the food is being cooked. 4. Excellent location and trendy area Minuses: 1. There is a very strong sewer/spoiled fish smell when you enter the doors 2. The bathrooms were filthy. Being that they had only been open an hour before I arrived, something is really wrong with that. 3. Inexperienced hibachi chefs. Our chef was doing tricks with the spatulas and one flew out of his hand and knocked over my mom’s mustard and ginger sauces 4. He didn’t clean up the above mess until it was time to leave, which was a very disrespectful way to handle that. We’re spending a pretty penny to dine and you don’t have the decency to clean your mess up? While we ate, there was a spill of mustard and ginger on the table the entire time. It was a lot and too much 5. The greeter, who appears to be a manager or something of the sort had horrible customer service and no personality at all. He was the greeter, the seater and the one who filled our drinks. His attitude turned me off very much I likely won’t be going back. If you want good hibachi, go to Jinbeh in Las Colinas

We ate here one time. It was just eh. I didn’t enjoy it one way or another. Nothing made me want to return or tell my friends to eat here. Our hibachi chef was rather mechanical. It was fairly dark inside the restaurant. Things did not feel very clean to me… and I like to see what I’m eating. In addition, I have read other online information that cements my opinion. Overall, pass.

I came in here on a weekday for a late lunch. I saw the open sign and walked in right at 2:05.(They close at 2:30, and I would have been aware of this prior to entering had I read the business hours posted right on the front door! Whoops). I sat at the front bar and the two servers who were helping me were very nice. They brought me a water and asked if I’d like a drink. I ordered a beer, which was quickly delivered, and then was told that the kitchen would be closing in a few minutes and if I knew what I wanted to eat. The kitchen closes at 2:15 I suppose, or maybe it was just because I was one of three guests in the entire restaurant and the other two were almost finished. Anyways, I quickly ordered, and felt immediately rude! If I had known the place was closing down before I ordered my beer, I would have left and went elsewhere. Also, ordering quickly just really isn’t my style. Eating is sacred and choosing what I eat is a lengthy ritual, under normal circumstances. I ordered the filet mignon hibachi lunch and added lobster. I upgraded the steamed rice to fried and had soup instead of salad. Needless to say, I wasn’t super adventurous. Everything was pretty good and as expected. I suppose maybe they shouldn’t make you choose a soup or salad but I guess at lunch not everyone pigs out like I do. The overall feel of the place for me was pretty uncomfortable. The two girl servers helping me were nice, but there were other workers in there who seemed unfriendly. It also probably didn’t help that I was uncomfortable from the start arriving 10 minutes before they were closing the kitchen. However, if you say you close at 2:30, your kitchen should remain open until 2:30. In a restaurant, that should be expected. There was an elderly woman who walked in by herself as I was eating my soup, no later than 2:20 and was turned away. It made me feel sad.

Located for decades on Main Street of Southlake. I was there last week for a birthday gathering. Very nice place to be with friends and family. I had a combination of sea food and steak hibachi. The scallops were so fresh and huge. I don’t usually see that size of scallop at other place. The steak were so tender and juicy. I also love the hibachi fry rice with the chief special made chili sauce.(excellent combination if you love spicy) I had great time there, and will definitely recommend to my friends.

My niece and her 11 friends ate here before their homecoming dance on 10⁄20 and 9 out of the 12 kids immediately got food poisoning. The 9 kids who were sick ordered from the hibachi grill. They were throwing up in a nearby parking lot on their way to the dance. One of the kids also found a bug in his salad. The restaurant blamed it on the kids and did not even offered to reimburse the sick kids for their meals. Don’t go here if you care about your health.

I’ve been here a few times with the future family-in-law, and Kobeya never disappoints! It’s a pretty standard Hibachi set-up with pretty standard options. The sushi really makes Kobeya stand out in my mind. While I never get anything too adventurous(spicy salmon tends to be my ‘go-to’ choice), the fish tastes fresh and complements the rest of the meal perfectly.

We stopped in here on a whim(hubbs was craving sushi) on a Monday night and were quickly greeted and seated at a Habachi with another couple. I’m all for loving on your significant other, but this couple was getting down and dirty right there! I have no idea how much they’d had to drink, there were lots of empties in front of them. Hubbs politely asked the hostess if we could just eat at the sushi bar and things got much better from there. The sushi was fresh and quickly delivered. I ordered a roll with Tempura shrimp, asparagus and cream cheese with rice paper. It was delish! I don’t know that i’ve ever eaten a whole roll in one sitting! Hubs ordered three rolls, which he ‘mostly liked’ but he was not impressed with their sashimi. By the time we were finished with our meal there was no one in sight(it was 830) and we had to track down several different people to pay an leave. Overall it was good for me, but the service wasn’t so good.

In the Dallas area for business and found Kobeya on my GPS. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered smoked salmon sushi with the rainbow roll. Hands down the best sushi I’ve had in a while. The sushi was perfectly sized and incredibly soft and flavorful without falling apart. I was eating at prime lunch hours and had my order in front of me within 2 minutes! Free parking right across from the restaurant and very reasonable prices for Southlake. The noise level was low even with lunchtime making Kobeya a good place for business or dating.

A mess. I read some one saying oh well the people are from somewhere else it’s a culture difference… no it’s not. I LOVE sushi I eat it where ever when ever I can it’s just that good to me so when I saw this place and was with my family of 5 I was game to try their food. It was terrible. I have never had such poor service… we waited for the hostess for 20 mins no lie and I would have left but my mom wanted us to try it so I waited. The place is crowded and I know for sure some of their stuff hasn’t been dusted for months. It took forever to get seated and our hibachi chef wasn’t very entertaining only flirting with one person at the table. The rice size was very tiny and they charge you $ 2.50 extra on top of the order!!! The sushi was put together messy and was tasteless. I do not recommend this place at all!!! Drive down Southlake Blvd. and pick another sushi place because Kobeya is a PASS. You’ll be very upset you spent so much money on such soso service and food.
