I recently started brewing kombucha and ginger ales. The venture began out of curiosity from readings in the blogosphere and I procured most of my initial supplies via Amazon. However, as I became more engaged and excited about the process and all the possibilities, I set out to find a local business where I could pick up items the same day. Despite the industrial surroundings, Brewchatter is an inviting little shop that is well stocked with anything you could possibly need. The gentleman who helped me, who I would assume is an owner, was very friendly and helpful. The place gives the vibe that you’d be welcome to chat a long while, ask questions, and exchange ideas. Sadly I didn’t get to do that upon my initial visit, but I look forward to returning for more products and information once my production really gets rolling. Best of all, prices are competitive with those found online, but you won’t get this kind of service online. I’ll definitely make this place a destination to take my home-brewing friends and family when they come to visit.

Absolutely love these guys. Great service and are willing to help you with anything. It’s very refreshing to be able to walk in, have a beer, talk about beer and pick up everything you need to buy beer. Keep up the great work!

Very cool place. Stopped in on a whim one day instead of my usual home brew supply place, and found a gem. They gave a very extensive inventory, including supplies for brewing, wine and mead making, kegging and more. Knowledgeable and friendly, Josh and RJ found a niche to fill that Reno truly needed. I think I’ve officially found a new LHBS to call home.

I’ve been here a few times. Their staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about beer brewing. From your super basic supplies to the harder to find malts and equipment. they are very aware of all of the online options that home brewers have and do a good job at matching prices you could find online. a matched price that you can pick up in store saves you shipping. for example I bottle my beer(as opposed to Keg) and I’m a huge fan of the swing top bottles. Not only do they have a price that’s better than what I can find online, they have 2 styles of bottles available, one that was drastically cheaper than I’ve been able to find anywhere. the only downside is that the store is hard to find, the front of their store is down an alley off Kleepe. Google gps gets you close but not quite there, but I figured it out shortly after that.

RJ and Josh are not only very knowledgeable about brewing but are also amazing at it. I had the opportunity to try 2 beers that they both brewed and they were amazing. I live in the microbrew capital that is Portland Oregon and have been to multiple brew shops, none of them carry the same amount of gear and products they do. I recommend my friends here in Portland to order off their website. Very impressed. Good job guys!

Hard-to-find little shop, but well worth the search. The owners are super laid-back and friendly, and as someone who is new to the homebrew hobby, I never felt like an idiot for asking questions. Not only do they have a great selection of homebrewing products, they also have a fridge with some great beers. Pop open a brew, browse the store, and talk shop with the owners, or other customers as they come and go. After my first experience with these guys, I can comfortably say I’ll be back anytime I need anything. Cheers!

This place is small and hard to find. They did have what I needed(just some yeast) and they were able to give some solid advice. They definitely seem to know what their craft. I don’t have enough experience to say that this place is amazing, but I’m sure I will be heading their way again in the future.

Awesome! Super helpful, and even though I’m still somewhat new at home brewing, I never felt as though I was being a pain or an inconvenience by asking questions and not knowing everything. I picked a recipe, RJ explained everything to me, let me see and smell the ingredients as he packaged them up, gave me tips, and was overall a really nice guy who you can tell just loves doing what he’s doing. Prices were pretty much on par with anyone else, including online retailers(who are then going to charge you shipping), plus it’s great to see this kind of local business pop up. I’m excited to have a homebrew location that is on this side of town, especially for those us us who live way up in Wingfield Springs. Plus, they take card(thank heavens). I will absolutely be going back to Brew Chatter when I’m ready for my next batch. And even if you are just considering brewing your own, I would recommend stopping by.

This is what the Reno Sparks area needed in the way of homebrew shops. The selection grows daily and special orders are not a problem.

I went to BrewChatter’s only other competitor in Reno on a Saturday afternoon to purchase some bottles/cleaner/sanitizer. They were closed(I drove from Truckee, 40 minutes away). My wife looked on the web to see if there was a reason why(posted on the web) and if there were any other homebrew suppliers in the Tahoe area… I told her there weren’t(Wife — 1, husband — 0). I tried not to wet myself over my excitement when she found BrewChatter. I met with RJ, who answered all my questions completely and patiently(I’m well-known for asking why, why, why, why, until you want to smash your head into a boulder). RJ is a very bright fellow, is VERY customer focused, and his prices are competitive. What more could you want than nice, knowledgeable, intelligent, CUSTOMER-FOCUSED guys with a black belt in home brewing?(HINT: Titan Ammunition is just around the corner!). You can even order from BrewChatter’s website and they’ll have everything ready for you to pick up! Now THAT’s mis-en-place! BOTTOMLINE: I had a GREAT customer experience, the owners are awesome guys, they’re open 7 days a week, and I got what I came for! Love this place… give them ALL your business!

My boyfriend and I came here to get supplies for our first solo brew without the help of our«brewmaster» friends. We knew we were missing some supplies(and know-how) but were determined to try it on our own! We have traditionally bought supplies from the Reno Homebrewer, but were disappointed to see they weren’t open on Sundays. We recently moved from Reno to Sparks and hoped to find a close place that could compare to the Reno Homebrewer. We sure hit the jackpot! When we arrived we were charmed by the space. It was small, but was very clean and well organized, and they have a surprisingly large selection of grain, malt, hops, yeast, brewing supplies, etc. You could tell they put a lot of work into the place. RJ greeted us with a smile and we explained our situation. He went through the supplies we would need, was very knowledgable about how the process works, and answered all of our questions. We picked out a recipe from their collection and he and the other guy working there, Josh, measured out and sealed all the bags for us. When all was said and done, they rang us up and we were pleasantly surprised how inexpensive everything was! He gave us his number and said to call if we needed any help or had questions while we were brewing. RJ told us they just opened up in May and we could tell it was a passion. These guys really help set us off on the right foot and I’m hopeful it will turn out to be a great beer! I’m going to be sure to stop in and give them a bottle when it’s completed. We love supporting our local businesses and have high hopes for this company. Cheers! Thank you RJ, Josh, and Brew Chatter!

Now let me start out by saying that I am not a brewer by any means but I felt inspired after leaving BrewChatter. Rj, one of the men running the place, was very knowledgeable about brewing. The place is super cute! It is well organized and inviting when you walk in. I loved the mural painting on the back wall, you could tell they put a lot of effort into the design of their space. One wall was painted with chalk paint and they used that to post updates and deals. What a cool place! The variety of hops, grains, etc. Basically anything and everything you need for either starting to brew or an avid brewer! I highly recommend this place!

Needed Star San on Sunday and Brew Chatter was the only place I could find open. The guys running the place were very friendly and personable. This is an awesome home brew shop that you should definitely stop by if you are in the area. Thanks guys!!!
