John’s Pizza

I ate at Johns today. I must say it was the worst pizza I have ever had. cheap ingredients and little to no skill in preparing it. please someone open a decent pizza joint in this area you would have no competition.

We ordered there last week — one large pizza and a calzone. I should have known better. The food was super-​greasy and gave me indigestion for 24 hours after. Even looking at the pizza when you open the box (I should have taken a pic) indicates the lack of care and quality of ingredients. Sorry, but this consumer expects much better. Can we get good pizza in Spencer please? Someone?

Me likey. I have not had their pizza yet, so don’t hold me to this. But, I have had their dinners. I like the quality and the portions for the price. It is not the ‘best of’ this, that, or whatever you order. But the food is fresh made, and it has been consistent.
My boyfriend and I have been there occasionally over the past 3 years. Which means, we are there about three times a year. That’s how often we are in that part of town.
We like their meatballs, spaghetti, Italian sausage, kabobs, sandwiches, Syrian bread, garlic bread, and I love their salads.
Just consistently decent food, and the owners are always nice to us when we are there. And it’s clean. So, there.

Unfortunately since the ownership change a while back there’s been a slow but steady decline in the food and atmosphere. Current owners seem to have changed recipes and ingredients (not for the better in my opinion), and the atmosphere is showing lack of maintenance, and general decline in cleanliness. My last visit a couple of days ago the young girl working there was picking her fingernails between handling food, and cash, no gloves in use, the benches where food was being prepared were filled with spilled ingredients with no apparent care to clean them, there were dirty cloths lying in many locations, and the workers appeared to be in a state of confusion. I think this was my last visit after being a customer for over 40 years.

Sorry to say, Adel, that you have ruined the formula which John and then Simon created and made John’s Pizza so good and popular. I believe that if you do not return to the previous ways your store will not survive. I no longer do business with you.

Hadn’t been in a while since previous owners left and I’m sorry I tried the food again the steal sandwiches were the best around now they are just awful and me and my wife loved their meat lovers this last time it was so different and so much smaller than back in the day… we need simon and Marie back blah…

Tried it out last night and it was really nothing to be excited about. Got a cheese and house special pizza. The cheese was alight; crust on both pizzas were dry and flavorless. The house special was pretty gross; the hamburg on the pizza tasted like mush and overall not all that appetizing.

Honest staff, great food and overall pleasant experience. Try the buffalo chicken tenders, they are like home made version. The pizzas come in a great variety as well.

Not at all as good as it used to be! When the previous owner Simon owned it, he took pride in the portions and quality! Since the new owners, although very nice people, the portions are much smaller and prices have increased! Add bacon before get a HUGE add on! Now 3 pieces! Sandwiches were 3 times the size they are now! They Were the best now just another pizza place but more expensive!

Stopped in for our Friday night out. Ordered a garden salad and wife had an antipasto salad. Both were fresh and hugh. One was enough to feed two. Also ordered a ham and cheese calzone which was full of meat and cheese and tasted great and crust was wicked good. They serve the crispy coated french frys which son loved.
Only negative is they they really need to do a good cleaning. The dishes and tables and salt&pepper shakers all covered in think layer of grease which was bit of turn off.

This is my hometown pizza place. To me, there’s nothing like East Coast pizza and when i’m back in town John’s is a must visit spot for our family. The crust is always cooked without being too hard or too soft and they put the right proportion of cheese, sauce, and veggies. Since I’ve moved I think they changed owners or something (I could be totally wrong here) but the service just isn’t the same as it used to be. But the pizza is still good which I guess is what matters most.

Excellent food and reasonable prices with plenty of parking

Run by a Greek family, this place is a solid pizza joint in the middle of hickville USA (I can say that because it’s my hometown). We ordered the large Hawaiian and the House Special, basically, all the meats you can throw on it, plus some peppers, onions, and mushrooms for good measure. The Special had about an inch worth of toppings, and unfortunately, the crust couldn’t stand up to the pressure. But I was so hungry that I didn’t care (4 hours at a wake will do that to you). The Hawaiian was generously filled with pineapple and huge slabs of ham, and the gigantic slices didn’t stop me from eating two of each.
I can never find this kind of crust in Boston, it much be a metro-​west thing. I can’t even describe it, thick crust, but thin on the bottom. Delicious, but when there’s substantial toppings on the top, it needs to be a little thicker to hold up.
My parents order here all the time and they really enjoy it. Right smack in the middle of Spencer Center right on Rt 9. Lots of places to sit down and eat your pizza as well. So if you ever find yourself in the middle of no where, wondering how or why the hell you are in Spencer Massachusetts, maybe you should contemplate it over a slice at John’s.
