This is an annual event(around the same time every year; check their website foe each years exact date) that helps supports the Spicewood Texas Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services(~$ 20k of their needed $ 150k budget… with easily well over 1000 attendees, the event is huge!). A great way to spend an evening doing something a little different, definitely exciting and fun, and helping an important community element! If you’ve never been to a auto demolition derby, this was my first time, you’ve certainly missed out — here’s your chance. :) Adult admission is only $ 10 p/p, kiddos 12 and under $ 5. While there are concessions on-site selling food and soft drinks, you can bring in a ice chest for s 5 buck fee(with snacks, water, sodas, beer, whatever… saves you some $$$). Gates open at 4; action starts around 6 and goes on until 9−10pmish. Pros: *Inexpensive fun for adults and kiddos alike. Large area behind stand with literally 100 kids playing, kicking a ball. *Free parking. [Tip: If you have a truck of any sorts, drive it. The massive grassy lot is quite bumpy.] Even though it was so crowded, with rows and rows of vehicles, exiting was easy and didn’t take long at all. *BYOIceChest= save$ & eat and drink what you want. *Car trashing is just cool. I don’t just want to watch. I wanna do it! Maybe next year. *GREAT people watching… from ALL walks of life! Lots of friendly folks who really lend to the excitement. Cons: *Dusty…as expected. Be prepared to literally«kick the dust off» when you get home(or even, a long shower). *Most people were drinking beers(lots of it), and several were even passing around shots. Seemed like most people had a DD, but still take caution when walking the lot area. Just sayin’…and I did smell some Mary Jane a few times. Eh. Whateva! Crash, bash, smash… and the winner is!!!
