Been eating lunch here for years. Excellent bar food with reasonable prices. Very busy on Gonzaga basketball game days.

Oh where are the words for this hallowed Zag watering hole? Well, after the insulting service I’ve received I have no kind words. If zero-stars are possible I’d hand it out here. I cannot imagine why people go here instead of the Foxhole or Geno’s just down the street, really. Why have pride in a place as base as this? It’s overrated, overpriced, poorly staffed, and the clientele is less than pleasant and more than obnoxious. I’ve had just the nachos, fries, chicken tender plate, and a burger. They’re decent, nothing special. Here’s a just two of the reasons why there is one star rather than two or three for pure mediocrity: the bartender that I tend to see there is not cordial and generally unpleasant, and the door staff/manager proved to be either incompetent and/or just poor at their job. I was going to meet some friends for drinks for a birthday get together. I had my ID checked, no biggie. But they took a little longer, typical because the layout of a Colorado ID is different from Washington IDs. But they spent more than just a few minutes. The guy called his manager to look at it too, they suspected fake I’m sure. After an interminable wait they let me in. I buy a drink and the door guy finds me and asks for my ID again, I ask why that’s necessary and he give me no answer and apologizes. This time he returns with his manager and I give him my ID and they walk off without without saying a word. They have my ID for maybe just under 10 minutes. At this point everybody in our group is upset with the bar, of five of us 4 of us have out of state IDs and two of us have Colorado IDs. The other Colorado said the doorman spent maybe a minute checking the ID but all was good, they didn’t get the treatment I did. The manager finally returns and quizzes me on my information and even asked me about what school and parks were located near my house and the major cross-streets. I ask him what’s his business with/and why he needed to search my personal information to which he smugly responds, «It’s my job.» I answer his questions and he leaves with the weakest one-word apology I’ve ever heard from any service worker. He said sorry, and that the manager said to double check the Colorado IDs. Well, my friend from Colorado got none of this treatment. They didn’t get their card taken without an explanation, they didn’t have their HOME searched online, and they weren’t insulted. I can’t help but wonder if it’s because I’m not white, I’m not calling racism or profiling, but NOBODY including the person from Colorado received the treatment I did. The drinks suck anyway, none of the bartenders can make an ‘old-fashioned’ worth a damn.

Can we talk about the BLT for a minute? It was the best BLT I’ve had and the coleslaw on the side was perfect. The atmosphere was pretty fun too.

Grabbed dinner here last night and had the Rueben and their porter on tap. Both were great. The service was awesome. Someone else had the meatloaf sandwich and it looked amazing. That’s what I’ll be having next time! Great place to catch a zags game, a drink, or dinner.

I came in, a minor trying to eat dinner, and they role me that I couldn’t eat in the bar area because I wasn’t of age which I understand because that is the law. The problem arouse when they told my party that their back room(which is meant to allow minors) was full. We proceeded to get kicked out.

Don’t go! They do not value your business and no reputable establishment would treat customers like we were treated.

Huge disappointment from what I remember when this was a great place to eat. This is obviously a drinkers’ bar these days and a really divey one at that. We had a burger and the meatloaf sandwich which were both tasteless and haphazardly put together. They were served with frozen fries and greasy onion rings. Service was friendly but inept. Doesn’t seem to be an on-site manager and I’ll bet it’s been years since John Stockton has eaten here. It’s heartbreaking to see a favorite of my Gonzaga days fall so far.

We got into Spokane really late, and Jack & Dan’s was the only place we could find still serving food. I spent a lot of time at Jack & Dan’s as an undergrad, but I don’t recall ever eating there before. The bartender was great, and made some well needed, great drinks, and we shared a nacho, which was surprisingly good, and we couldn’t even come close to finishing it. It is very updated and nice, and even has a section for families now.

Just check your facts. Don’t get someone in trouble who isn’t associated with an issue. That’s not acceptable. Please be more cautious of the details before accusing anyone. Get the details, get the facts. You just lost a lot of business by black-balling the wrong person. That’s your own fault, fellas. Someone absolutely should have gotten in trouble. You picked the wrong person(you picked the person from Seattle) and lost the business of most underclassmen as they become of age. Your loss, Jack & Dans. Hope you stay open.

This is the best dive bar in town! Topping off their great list of beers is the nachos! Great service. I will be back.

Fantastic selection of beers on tap. The server was very helpful with suggestions, and offered multiple tastes. The service is fast and friendly, and the pub-style food is tasty. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and is a great place for a workday lunch or post-work drinks with friends.

You need to give at least one star, but they deserve zero. An europen ID is not sufficient to justify you’re over 21. It seems they have enough customers. You don’t need to go there.

A bar I would bet every single underclassman at GU went to at one time… or many times. This bar was the go-to for watching a GU game, grabbing a drink after class or hanging out with your friends on the weekends. There were times of the year where the bar was frequented by students and other times that the crowd was much older. No matter what it will always’ be GU’s bar and I still find myself coming back here as an alumni on the occasion that I am back in Spokane. Oh and get the Irish Trashcan.

I was shocked. I always assumed this was a dive bar. It is actually a hidden treasure. I think getting a table on Gonzaga basketball night would be nearly impossible. The menu is pretty basic, but good. Nice selection of beers.

Jackson and Daniels, Bar and Grille, is the premier establishment frequented by the learned youth of Gonzaga University. They have walls of liquor, taps of ale, and a delectable assortment of meals to choose from. This Irish grille will make you feel right at home.

Great local pub! Always visit when in Spokane. Great beer and liquor selection, solid menu and friendly service. Free parking in the back and easy to find. About five minutes from the downtown business district as well. A great mix of friendly locals, business people and GU students provides a diverse crowd. Stop in for a few cold ones!

From the single experience I’ve been here… It was on a Saturday night. It was hopping, I loved the brews(Stella on tap) and it was a good vibe /good experience. I will be back in the near future — Alex

Sweetie and I wanted to have the tavern experience so we went over to Jack and Dan’s Tavern near Gonzaga University. Some of the locals were around for the girls basketball team was going to have an inter squad game at GU’s McCarthy Center in an hour or so. We sat at the bar, had a couple of draft beers, talked with some locals, and had a good time. When it came close to the starting time for the basketball game, off we went to McCarthy Center for the game. I hate to date myself, but last time I was there, the tavern was called Joey’s Tavern.

An absolute staple for anyone going to Gonzaga. Ever since the Bulldog closed, Jack & Dan’s remains the one last bastion for students, and faculty, to unwind near campus. Evenings are something that one must experience in person; no review can do them justice.
