Meh. It used to be good. Last two times I went it sucked. Not worth the money when you have an annoying waitress that won’t stop talking to you while you’re trying to eat and an overbearing, rude female owner that thinks she is successful because she has a modest train restaurant in Spokane… if I wanted that kind of attutide id go to the DMV. How far is IHOP…

Who doesn’t love a delicious meal in a converted train car? It’s always a fun time at Knights from the personality of the owner and staff to the personality of the car. The huckleberry pancakes are a personal favorite of mine with a side of bacon that is the perfect amount of crispy. I also had a blt once that was delicious. Whatever it is, it’s made with love.

Delicious! This is one of the only places in Spokane for breakfast that know how to cook over medium eggs. That’s really important to me for some reason. I love the brown gravy and onions on the hash brown’s, super yummy. Also like the old feel of the train cart.

If you must pick one place for breakfast in Spokane make it Knight’s. The place is so cool and the good is home cooking at its best. The whole experience is complete when you add the always on site owner Vickie. Every dish reflects her continued efforts to create a wonderful meal. Order the German sausage and mustard for a special treat

Knight’s diner is absolutely amazing for breakfast! The rich heritage and history of the diner its fantastically explained by a wonderful and friendly waitress Racheal! She knows the ins and outs of the restaurant since she has been there for at 15 years. I highly recommend knights diner as a place of choice for your breakfast needs! The hash browns are to die for, I mean seriously who makes him like Grandma on mom used to? Get here and ask for Racheal!

I’m a sucker for a good breakfast in an old train car. Fortunately(and oddly) Spokane has a few options to choose from — Franks and Knights. Before you go to Knights, there are a couple things that are good to know. 1. There are no booths here like there are at Franks, so you’ll be sitting bar style. 2. There are probably 20 – 25 spots, so seating can be pretty limited. I did not know about the lack of tables and went with a group of 7(plus 2 babies in car seats). There happened to be enough room for our entire group, but you can’t really talk to everyone since you’re sitting bar style. The food is prepared right in front of you on a large griddle. The food was pretty good, but it wasn’t anything special. I had the biscuits and gravy, which is my standard diner fare. Our server was very nice and did a solid job serving our group. Its worth a stop if you’ve never been here, but I personally don’t think it’s the best train car breakfast in town… and I definitely don’t think this is the best breakfast in Spokane.

Food was ok-ish nothing to write home about. Certainly don’t think it deserves the title of best breakfast. Had the special omelette and nothing had flavor, even added ketchup and Tabasco and it sucked the flavor out of it too. Wife had her eggs over medium and they over cooked them. The omelette had no fluffyness to it at all, I’ve seen flat tire with more volume to them. The toast was good, the coffee good and the water was too.

The food here is very good. Just hope you don’t get the owner to wait on you. She doesn’t give very good service and you might have to put up with her snotty, rude remarks that she thinks are funny. She spends time chatting with her obvious favorite customer while others wait for things.

I really wanted to love this spot! The rail car interior is in excellent condition, the mahogany counter is beautiful. The history is great and the location is fine. be warned that there are not booths and the diner chairs turn fast so don’t expect to sit and lounge. Service was fast. Service was friendly. Prices were ~11 per plate for any basic egg dish, omlet, steak or sandwich. Why only two starts? Because the menu us boring classic grease fest without even an effort to cut the grease. I’m fine with a basic menu at 10 for a two egg & hash dish if its quality ingredients on a good tasting grill. This was straight up grease and salt. Super heavy breakfast that totally disappointed. The omelet is not worth your time. I would recommend this to people who are keen on brown gravy, hash browns or butter. If your interested in anything else(coffee, eggs, bread, fruit) then look elsewhere.

The best I can say about the cube steak lunch I had today was that the ranch dressing was terrific and the greens in the salad were fresh and crisp. On the other end of the spectrum, the steak was extremely small … about the size of a woman’s palm(not the whole hand), tough as shoe leather, and flavorless. Thank heavens for ranch dressing to drown it with. The toast and hashbrowns tasted like they had been cooked in rancid oils. Yuck!

The service was good and quick, food was good, great prices. My favorite was the hashbrowns but rather than gravy I has cheese and onions on them… delicious! Nice Lil quaint place for breakfast.

Now this is the kind of breakfast diner I’ve been looking for since moving to Spokane! Just a place to get a delicious no-frills breakfast. Their food is absolutely delicious. I had the corned beef hash. It was some of the best I’ve had. My wife got the hot cakes. They were the most perfect little hot cakes. Tender, sweet and fluffy. Good enough on their own that you could eat them without syrup. The only issue here would be the wait for both food and seating when it’s busy, but it’s completely understandable. There is very limited seating and, when we went, there was only one cook. Despite the limited staff, they are very friendly and take good care of you. My biggest issue is that i don’t really fit all that well at the bar, but I’m about 6’6″ so I don’t think most others would have that issue. Either way, the food is well worth any wait or discomfort I may have experienced.

This is the best breakfast in Spokane. The best greasy spoon style breakfast I’ve ever had anywhere. The best hash browns I’ve ever had without a doubt, and the best bacon I’ve ever had. That’s a lot of bests I know, but it’s true IMO. :). The hash browns have this awesome crust on them. They have great gravy that I usually get on the side for the hash browns. I’ve talked with the owner and she says it’s a special cut of bacon she orders up special from the butcher. The train setting is cool, but can make it hard to get a seat. Also it’s a little tight. The more you eat there the less chance you’ll be able to keep eating there cause you won’t be able to fit in the seats anymore :). Seems like Franks is more popular. Franks is good, but not even close to Knights. Franks has better seating and that’s the only victory they have in the train car breakfast wars.

This place is wonderful! The food is all cooked right in front of you by the owner and she is an absolutely amazing person. You feel welcomed as soon as you walk in the door and she continues to make you feel that way! The experience of sitting and enjoying your food in an old train car is super cool. It is clean and decorated nicely, not over crowded with old stuff or junk on the walls. I would definitely recommend doing by for a meal if you in the area! Also did I mention she bakes her own pies each day!

We came here for an after wedding brunch and surprisingly they accommodated our party of 8 with not that much wait time. It was crammed and on the hot side but what do you expect in an old 1900’s rail car right? The food was your typical diner style fare but it wasn’t super greasy or hard on the tum tum lol. And the price was right too, especially for the quality of food you get. The hash browns are in fact delicious and I suggest adding the brown gravy and onions, it made them even more magical. The service was cool too, the waitress was friendly and spent time with us chatting and telling us stories about the history of the place.

Do you want a real train car dining experience??? If you do skip Frank’s and come over here. This is a true dining car experience where you are served old school diner type food. Homemade pancakes, fresh huckleberries, eggs cooked on a griddle, etc. Service was good, Vicky makes sure of that, food comes up quick, people are a hoot but here would be the complaints. 1) If you are looking for modern cooking or unique items you won’t find it here, just old school breakfasts. 2) It’s expensive for breakfast, just like franks but if you want that dining car experience than come here. Ratings FOOD For old school diner food — 4.5 stars Compared to competition — 2.5 stars SETTING If you want a train car experience 5 stars If you don’t care 2 stars VALUE 2.5 stars when compared to Franks THEREADERGET’S TOCHOOSETHEIRRATING If you want a old school dining car experience = 4STARS If you just want breakfast = 2.33STARS I gave it a three because I wanted the experience and the rest of my party wanted breakfast.
