Wow… worst time at Red Dragon ever. Our go-to comfort date night has been ruined by the worst service ever. Start with telling my wife you’re switching the Coke out so it’ll be a minute and you’ll bring our soup at the same time. 15 minutes later Coke comes… 6 minutes after that soup(toxic green in color, I’ve been eating here for 10 years, your Egg Flower soup has always been clear) comes but we still don’t have utensils which you say you’ll be right back with… for 5 minutes I watched you serve others, ask if they needed anything, checked with everyone at the bar for what they needed, while we sat with soup getting cold and no way to eat it… so we walked out. Threw a $ 10 bill down and walked, it was THAT bad. Ruined a wonderful night and a what was a good place has gone bad apparently ZEROSTARS!!!

Have ate at the Red Dragon maybe 6 times, I just really like the place and I can’t even pin down why. The food is good, servers are good, and the vibe is good, but there is more to it. Maybe it is because it is on a side street in Hillyard and that is the biggest surprise, and good surprises always make the food better.

Spokane isn’t the place for vegans! However, I was pleasantly surprised to find this place which has a vegan menu(they use fried tofu in place of meat, and mushroom sauce instead of oyster sauce)! Is it the best food you’ll ever have? Probably not, but it is good and since they have a vegan menu, I’ll probably eat here every time I visit. The items I tried were a little on the saucy side, which isn’t my preference, but it wouldn’t deter me.

We chose Red Dragon because of the reviews. Maybe we’re just picky, but we weren’t very impressed. OOLONG tea was served instead of Jasmin or Green tea. The Egg flower soup was thick like snot, and no flavor. I ordered a standard dinner BBQ pork, fried rice, chow mein, and terriyaki chicken it was OK… I mean it was good but not great. My husband ordered the Moo Shoo pork they should focus on quality instead of quantity. The food is OK to eat, and the prices are good. But I doubt we’ll go back ~

Great food and fast service! Love that they have 3 locations in Spokane. Also their drivers are great! One day we were really hungry and the wait was 1 hr and 15 min for delivery. So I tried something new… I wrote a note that if they could deliver within 45 minutes Id give them an extra tip. Guess what?! They did! And the good was just as amazing…

Didn’t listen to my order and mushy terrible food. Don’t order the chow mein! Or anything for that matter go out the delivery convenience isn’t worth it!

I’m disappointing to see the negative reviews on this restaurant. Roughly three years ago I moved into the neighborhood(about three blocks away) and immediately decided to try Red Dragon. I have never had a bad experience here. My food is always cooked to perfection, the bar is staffed by wonderful employees(they definitely don’t skimp on the liquor), and the beef with rice noodles(my favorite) never dissapoints. This place is a must try!

Today was our first time at Red Dragon. We managed to get a parking spot right in front, so I didn’t have to trek very far through the snow at all. We see a ‘Please seat yourself’ sign when we walk in, but the only options we could see at first were a booth that looked to seat about 6(there were only 2 of us) or the bar. As I went to take a seat at the bar, we did see additional booths in a back portion, all empty. I was wary, thinking that this was where customers might be overlooked, but as it turned out it was in a direct path from the kitchen. Our waitress greeted us after we’d chosen a booth & took our drink orders(ice waters) while leaving the menus. The menu is extensive, but by the time she returned with our waters, we’d both decided on having the ‘Pick 3′ for $ 8.50. My husband chose the Almond Chicken, Honey Wine Chicken, & steamed rice. I chose the Special Chow Mein(for an additional $ 1.50), Sweet and Sour Ribs, and Fried Rice — all no onions. I was pleasantly surprised when the waitress returned soon after taking our order with 2 cups of soup with a packet each of saltines. This soup was an egg-flower with mixed vegetables — lima beans, corn, carrots, peas, along with more traditional baby corn, water chestnuts, & cabbage. It was tasty. Soon after, our main course arrived. It was very quick, and very fresh. The fried rice at first looked like brown rice, but it was full of the salty, delicious flavor of fried rice. The ribs were topped with pineapple tidbits. My favorite was the chow mein, although it didn’t contain all the meats it said it did in the menu — it was all chicken with one slice of BBQ pork. What it did have was a lot of stir-fried flavor & veggies: bok choy, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, zucchini, bean sprouts! My husband & I cleaned our plates, leaving only the bones from my ribs. He said the Almond Chicken was the crispiest he’d ever had. We’re already making plans to bring our friends here in the future!

Made me sick. I love Chinese food and have a cast-iron stomach, but the delivery I ordered last night hit me like a freight train. First of all, literally half of my main dish was hot peppers; I counted 22, so that was all I could taste, but I was hungry so I ate about half of my meal anyways; the chicken was poor quality, grisly bits and I should have known there was something wrong with the dish. What’s more, the delivery guy kept my change without me telling him to, which seemed pretty awful.

First off. Serious props on having a vegan menu! Loved that I had several options as well as my non-veg companions. I ordered the Vegan Buddisht Delite as it sounded awesome. When I got my dish it was practically swimming in sauce. It kind of ruined the veggies and tofu for me. The thickness of the sauce wasn’t something I was really a fan of at all. Everyone else loved their food and device was pretty quick. I think if I went back I would definitely order something else as other things on the vegan menu sounded great.

We stopped here as it came up in a search for vegan options, and one member of our party requested Chinese. The waitress was polite and said she’s vegan too, had kind of a Ksenia Solo thing going on. There were indeed a bunch of vegan options, but blech, I only choked mine down because I wouldn’t have been able to find something better elsewhere. I got a General’s Tso’s tofu sort of dish. The breaded tofu and the veggies were extreeeemly greasy and mostly without any taste at all. My dish came with a bunch of undisclosed mushrooms. So while I applaud having vegan options, I do wish they were more palatable. I think the place is more a bar that serves food than a restaurant with a bar.

I have to say this is one of the not-so-delicious Chinese food places I’ve eaten from, although I’m from L.A., so maybe I’m used to… a better variety. I had it delivered, but when I got my food it was a little mushy, like it sat in the to-go containers too long and the steam made my food mush instead of crispy. I might give this place another try, but I will dine in rather than have it delivered.

i love online delivery. this is the only chinese place in town that has it that i know of. so that is nice and probably the reason i have ordered more than once. not to mention spokane doesnt have a lot of chinese places that deliver at all. however. i am torn. i have ordered twice recently and both times i was underwhelmed. glad to not have to cook but… i dont know maybe i am ordering the wrong things. i actually bought sweet and sour chicken tonight and it was thigh meat which i love. some might not but i think its better. it was also cooked crispy, the meat itself. the breading was soggy due to auce but i actually like that too. however… the sauce… tasted like nothing. sugar and corn starch pretty much. and that was dissapointing. this restaurant makes me really ambivalent. my mu shu chicken last time was really fresh tasting with spring onions on top. but it was also missing something. i dont know what except to say it was missing flavor. some kind of flavor. usually a good mu shu is good with or without the sauce, but this one needed the sauce or it was flavorless. and then it was good. i got orange chicken last time too and remember that it was not great tough and unbalanced. tasted a lot like orange peel in some bites(which i like in the right qty) but then like sugary cornstarch again when there was no peel in the bite. the combination fried rice is very tasty. the bbq pork tastes like home made and not like crocery store brand… i dont know if it is or if it is good preparation. its strange because i kind of like its mediocrity… but i also feel like they need to adjust it. i am not expecting miracles just better flavor balances.

Let me start by saying that I do NOT like slimy American Chinese food. At all. Come to find out, this is not that kind of place. We had a full dinner for two so we got to try the wonton soup, BBQ pork, the egg/spring rolls, almond chicken, fried rice, teriyaki chicken and beef stir fry. On the downside, the fried rice was totally unremarkable(where were the peas and carrots? :)) and the beef stir fry was just okay. On the upside, though, everything else was totally amazing, including the service. The Almond Chicken was SOEFFINGGOOD!!! omg. And the spring roll was house made(not the frozen kind you so often see) and was literally the best fried food I’ve ever had. I think they make the almond chicken with crack because I wanted it again the next day and the next. Unfortunately it doesn’t reheat as well as one would hope, but if you get it all in you at the restaurant, I encourage you to do so, because it’s so amazing. For a non chinese food fan, if I’m ever back in Spokane, I’ll definitely revisit the Red Dragon. yummers!

Red Dragon has a great Hillyard vibe, welcoming staff, and great food. I’m not going to say it’s authentic Chinese – I’ve never been there, I don’t know – but I will say it’s American West Coast Chinatown* authentic, which is what most people in the area will be looking for. Their food isn’t all brown on brown: fresh veggies abound, dishes are actually spicy, and flavors are distinctive. Beyond the food(which is even better when my favorite cook, whose name – I think – is Carlos, is working on the line), I just love the cool, unpretentious atmosphere. Everyone on staff is a bit of a character, the diners are a mix of Hillayard regulars, Northsiders, and a few random hipster types lurking in corners. I’m there for the reason the hipsters are, because this is such a quintessentially North Spokane scene and I adore it. To top it all off, Red Dragon is great value for your dollar, we’re always feeding 4 people for less than $ 40. Man, I almost don’t want to post this review. If you do come to Red Dragon, try not to ruin the vibe. *I lay claim to knowing what authentic Chinatown food is.
