Went with some friends on a Sunday morning, the staff was a little rude to me, and my friend who is lactose intolerant asked for a drink with almond milk, received a drink with regular milk and when she went to get her drink redone, the barista kept the drink behind the counter for a few minutes and gave my friend the same drink still containing regular milk. The staff obviously didn’t care, and giving people who ask specifically for orders based around avoiding allergies wrong orders is a serious health concern.

While working at the mall for the second time, I found myself living at this coffee shop before and after my shifts. What cultivated such a 5STAR profound experience at this Thomas Hammer was the following categories: food, quality, personable staff, and exceptional above and beyond service. There were many occasions where I would order a blended chai and a bagel toasted with cream cheese. The quality of food was significantly high. The bagels were fresh from a company picked bakery, the cream cheese a higher grade, and the chai a blended smooth flavor that kept me wanting more. Another item I fell in love with was their hot/iced tea with honey added. The passion and personality that I visually observed for 30 minutes each visit while i ordered, waited, and finished my food consistently rose above the highest caliber in customer service that I have observed and experienced. On several occasions I was taken care of with extra drinks,(larger size then i ordered) or a free ice water, and refills galore even without ordering anything with it(they charge 50 cents usually for an ice water). The baristas took the time to remember their clients — made easier by frequency of course, but they took the time to deliver a unique wholehearted approach to everyone. To those that returned, the baristas invested time in both conversation and mutual encouragement. This coffee shop is the real deal in both product, and experience. 5 of 5 stars is well deserved. I recommend this coffee shop specifically over the other Thomas Hammer stands and even Starbucks. The area is great for meeting up with business agendas, in addition to friends. Seating is available outside and inside the coffee botique so privacy is available. I will return to visit this location for sure! =]

I have been here twice. Its my spot when I’m in town and need to do a little bit of work. I drink americanos, straight up, no cream no sugar needed. The coffee is great! Staff is cool. They even serve the coffee in a mug if you’re driving there.

All of the TH’s I have been too are great, but I really like this one. I love how it’s in my favorite mall and that there is no ceiling above the café, so you can people watch people on the first and second level of the mall. I usually get the carmella de ville or black and white latte. super tasty! Baristas are always friendly and take their time making your drink so it turns out perfect. Occasionally I’ll get a baked treat and they are pretty good too. Love this local business!

I wish Thomas Hammer would open a coffee shop in Seattle! Mr.Hammer succeeded in creating addicts at GU when he opened shop at the Jepson Business School. I’ve been away for 7 months now and I crave the lemon poppyseed bread and the Carmella deVille daily. All of the Spokane shops have consistently high quality service and although I am not a drip drinker I do appreciate the Mighty Leaf teas, clean design/décor and yummy treats.

On my recent sojourn back to Spokane for Thanksgiving with the fam, I had an epiphany: Thomas Hammer is like Starbucks if they had never gotten popular and were just a little chain with a few local stores. Their coffee has a much better taste than Charbucks. They also carry that staple of all Spokane coffee shops, white coffee. If you’ve never had it, imagine an espresso drink with only one shot but the strength of a double or triple. It’s also said to not mess with your stomach like regular coffee. Perhaps the greatest thing about this place is that they sell Hammer t-shirts and hoodies. A friend of mine has a shirt and every time she wears it she gets looks that seem to say, «Wow, that girl must really like hammers» or «Watch out, get too close and she could go crazy and smack us with a hammer.»
