I’ve been coming to this location for over 20 years. Over that time things have not changed a whole lot. They have a very good assortment of meat and now some fish as well. The folks working here are always friendly and helpful. If you have any questions on how to prepare a meat they are always willing to give instructions. They also have the best pepperoni sticks that I have found in Spokane. If you want to get some quality meat for a BBQ this is a great place to go. A loss of a star as the prices are on the premium side.

The whole Egger clan seems to be involved in the meat business. This one was begun by John Egger in 1952; his son Wally and his wife run it now. The one on the South Hill was started by John’s brother in the 60’s. I have been to the other one once, and it seemed to be the same, so maybe family recipes are shared. This one on the North side is the one I usually go to. Excellent meat; good variety of beef and pork(try the porketta; stick it in the crock pot, come home to an excellent autumn meal) and poultry. We have really enjoyed their flat iron steaks. Pepperoni sticks, all kinds of sausages; even the bologna is excellent. They have other lunch meat also; all made there. Speaking of bologna, the kids can join Grandpa Egger’s Bologna Club and can get a free piece of bologna or a pepperoni bit… and we grownups can sign up to get a mailer every month that includes a $ 2 coupon! There is frozen meat also. I haven’t tried their seafood, but they have some. I have tried the liver… the ridiculously cheap price caught me, even though I am not a liver fan(kind of the opposite). But, with a lot of research and questions, I cooked it up and it was good! There’s things to round out your meal: deli foods, breads, noodles, sauerkraut, condiments, wine and beer. If you are a hunter you can take it there and they will sausage it up for you! For picnics/camping, call ahead and they will package up whatever grilling food you want and freeze it so it will travel well.

This is based on a few times I’ve been here… Consistently, I’ve never had a problem with the quality of their meat. Every time I’ve purchased from them, I’ve been very pleased with the meat I brought home. This is starting to sound a little dirty… My biggest complaint is that they don’t have a lot of diversity of meat. I went in there for lamb the other day, and all they had was one package of ground lamb. That’s it. Maybe at their other location, but not there(and they just assumed I’d do the work to find out). So three stars. Good meat, little diversity.
