El Rodeo de Jalisco has the best breakfast tacos in the area. Lots of meat with your eggs and cheese. Freshly made while you wait. The puffy tacos for lunch are equally as good. AND, the staff always has a smile for you.

Really good food. Very fresh. Good gorditas better than the puffy tacos. Rice has an amazing flavor. Chips were warm and salsa fresh and homemade. Flour tortillas were hot off the grill. Beer and wine served.

I love this place! Breakfast tacos are fantastic! Asada is the best I’ve ever had. 2 asada with cilanto and onion on corn with a sweet/unsweet tea under $ 6 for lunch! I have to admit I eat here multiple times a week

Their miga plate is so good. Best migas around. Their puffy chicken tacos, bean and cheese tacos, cheese enchiladas, chips and chalupas are also delicious! Sometimes you may have to wait awhile going thru drive-thru but it is worth it!

This is my go-to Mexican place in the area. There is literally not another Mexican place worth visiting. I’ll put it this way… I grew up in Houston with the real stuff, not the fancy decorated restaurants — I enjoy the authentic hole in the wall Mexican places. The food here is always good, and the service is great. My favorite is the El Rodeo Super Nachos with the beef fajita or the chicken fajita. I’ve also had the beef enchiladas(yummmmm) and the Rodeo Special with shrimp. I have literally never had anything I didn’t like. Plus… drive-through! Call in the order and bring it back home :)

This review is all about the breakfast tacos! We get tacos from here a couple times a month at work and they are delicious. Great homemade tortillas. We order a variety of breakfast tacos but the chorizo and egg is my favorite. I’ve heard good things about the assada and bean/cheese/bacon custom combo my coworkers enjoy. However if your getting a Togo order I suggest checking before you leave. Every time we order from there they forget something — someone’s taco, chips, etc

Great amount of filling in beef/chicken enchiladas! A nice Tex-Mex choice on my side of town.

After reading the reviews here, I REALLY wanted to like this place. But… I can’t. I had the enchiladas and the food was SO scalding hot, it was clear that«Chef Mike»(microwave) was on duty! When I could FINALLY taste it, the food was lacked any real authentic flavors and freshness. The décor was cute, but cramped. What was particularly bothersome were the«employees». They were young high school aged kids they goofed around with each other. Once we were served, we appeared invisible to them. I won’t be back.

We have eaten here for about five years and it is our favorite mexican food in the area with good enchiladas, carne guisada & flour tortias. Also, we enjoy breakfast here and usually get good service. Kind of a small place but very good.

We recently moved to this area and went here because it is only 5 minutes from our house. I read some reviews and expected adequate food and service. I was so wrong! El Rodeo de. Jalisco is fantastic! First of all, we arrived at 8:30 and they close at 9:00. We were pleasantly greeted and didn’t feel rushed by the servers. We continued to receive outstanding service during our meal! Also, we noticed that 15 more people came in between 8:45 and 9:00. They were also given exceptional service. The food was delicious! I recommend the nachos with beef! And the enchiladas were fresh and very tasty! The chips and salsa were also fresh! We kept asking for more! We feel lucky that El Rodeo de Jalisco is just around the corner, but even if it wasn’t, we would still go!

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants around. Their salsa is delicious. Their menudo, posole and caldos(soups) are really delicious.(The Posole is my favorite). My friend always orders the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and swears by them. Chicken tacos are very good(chicken is always moist and delicious). The owner, Maria, is always very attentive and helpful with our orders. She makes sure you feel welcomed. I make sure to visit El Rodeo every time I get back to San Antonio. Definitely one of my favorite eateries.

For a small little place right off of 281, this little Mexican resteraunt is by far one of my favorites! The staff by far is the friendliest and most kind I’ve met in any resteraunt in the area, the food is delicious and it just makes you wanna come back! Having a drive thru is just one of many awesome things They have to offer! Don’t forget to try the flautas!

I enjoyed the salsa and the guacamole but the rest of the meal, for us, was very average. The main dishes did not taste homemade at all – likely everything is prepared by some other company such as Sysco and then heated, which is a disappointment this close to all the authentic Mexican food in San Antonio. Although many frozen meals are better, if you just feel like going out for Mexican food, there really is no other option in the area if you don’t want to drive. That is what they have going for them. It would also be nice if you had some options for sauces. For example, you cannot get the cheese enchiladas with a red sauce. You have to get cheese queso on top(gross…cheese on cheese!) or a meat sauce on it. Where is the authentic cheese enchiladas with red enchilada sauce and why can’t I switch? Are they prepared frozen? Surely you have regular red enchilada sauce? Better than the other Mexican restaurant in Spring Branch which had heinous service and worse food, but it is nothing one would ever crave or take guests in town to or want to go to often… just an average place and the lack of diners when we have gone says others agree. If they would liven up their dishes with some homemade touches they’d do better and it’s really cheap to make homemade tortilla chips out of what should also be homemade tortillas… customers can tell the difference. Add some interesting dishes with fresh vegetables or freshly prepared items… make it something you crave. Just an average place of average service and average ambiance. Nothing one would recommend to friends or neighbors. If they took some tips from some great Mexican food places in San Antonio this place would have to expand they’d be so packed… if they did something of interest such as shrimp and poblano enchiladas, for example, or just anything memorable… as it is, they settle for«Eh, that was unmemorable» when you leave.

There aren’t many food places around with drive-thrus, so when I haven’t cooked and we just need something quick we’ll go through the drive-thru and order. The food is okay, but nothing to right home about. They are always very friendly though which is nice. All-in-all it’s decent when you need something fast that isn’t fast food like McDonald’s.

I know this may come as a shock to you, but not far from San Antonio, just a short drive from Loop 1604 there’s a surprising lack of Mexican food! I know. It’s crazy. But fear not! El Rodeo is in town, and the town happens to be Spring Branch. Serving up a menu full of todo de todo of your favorite Mexican dishes, this place is sure to satisfy your Mexicaddiction. The chips aren’t homemade, at least they don’t seem to be, but they’re delicious and go perfectly with the homemade(and just right) salsa. I’ll be back to try something other than the enchiladas verde lunch special. I didn’t realize they were just cheese, otherwise I would’ve explored the menu a bit more. Oh well. The good news is I’ll be hungry again tomorrow!
