Stepping into this quaint, small town hardware store is like stepping back into the 50’s where staff was courteous and knowledgeable and there was a main street in every town. Brad(and his son who I believe now works with him) run the BEST, if not only, local small town hardware store. The prices are very reasonable and the service and smiles you get from Brad are fantastic. His depth and breadth of knowledge is staggering AND if you’re looking for a local professional for a project(electrician, plumber, etc), he knows everyone. I own a store near Latshaws and ANY time I need something(screws, bulbs, tape, glue, screwdriver, PVC Pipe, outlet cover, duplicate key, paint, etc), he always seems to come through for me. I can’t believe how much stuff he has crammed into that store without it seeming«too crowded’. Big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes have their place, but I’d rather shop local and support the little guys trying to keep this tradition alive. I will always check with Brad to see if he has something before going elsewhere.

I could seriously spend all day in Mowrey Latshaw’s Hardware Store in Spring City. From the old squeaky floors, to the dusty bins of parts galore, to the most fantastic employees who are the best at knowing where every little hidden thing is in store, to the happy memories this place evokes of countless trips there with my Dad when I was little … maybe they can give me a part time job ;)

Great old-school hardware shop. No more kayaks for sale, the last I heard.

I go to this hardware store when I’m down visiting George’s Music. It is an old fashioned hardware store, just shelves, bins, limited inventory. What I love about it is the personnal service and that it’s a local buisness, not a chain mega-nut store. Here’s the one experience I had there. I was looking for a wood screw with a little tiny head so it could recess though a cylindrical metal knob; very unusual smaller size; so an extremely older gentleman ask me what I was searching so dilligently for and I explained. He shows me something close and said«do you have a file or a grinder?» I replied«no» so he leads me down to the rat celler and across out into a side garage and procedes to grind the top of the screw to mutilation, lol, he could’nt see it or hear me too well for that matter; but it was the type of people going out of their way to help people service which I am recommending here. Don’t miss it if you’re in Spring City.
