I come fro a long line of thick frizzy hair which was difficult to control. Decided to get the keratin treatment done instead of having to straighten it every few weeks. The treatment has done wonders for my hair. It does not feel dry and untamable anymore.
Everyone from Contempo was and has been amazing since I first showed up for my consultation and they even remember me by name… which is awesome. This is definitely my permanent salon from now on.

The first time I came to Contempo, I had just had one of the worst haircuts of my entire life. My mom had just started going to Contempo on a recommendation from her neighbors and said that I needed to give him a try. The day before (when I got the bad haircut) I had cut my mid-​shoulder length hair into a pixie cut. There were long pieces, chops taken out of the back and general lack of precision and quality. I was scared about doing the haircut in the first place and to say the least, was very disappointed. Julie, Contempo’s receptionist was super sweet and proficient and was able to squeeze me in the same day. When I got there, Dwayne was very attentive and listened closely to what I was asking. He did his best to repair the haircut and gave me the long pixie I was looking for. Fast forward to my next haircut, Dwayne literally gave me the best cut I have ever had. He has done right by me ever since and I get compliments on my hair everywhere I go. Although the location may be quaint, Dwayne knows what he is doing. He offers current, excellent hair services and his experience shows in the results. I am a very difficult customer to please and have only had three hairstylists in my life. I used to travel from Florida to Michigan just to have my hairstylist there treat me. Bottom line, Dwayne and a staff are consummate professionals and do fabulous work. Definitely the best in the area.

Dwayne is the best! He is the owner and I only let him touch my hair! He does amazing highlights, color, cuts! I love Contempo and won’t go anywhere else!!! Give them a shot, you won’t be disappointed!

I have been going to Contempo Salon Day Spa for more than a year, and I absolutely love it! I chose it because they have organic hair color, and the location right on the water is beautiful and peaceful. Dwayne, my hairdresser and the owner, is a true master of color and style. I always get many compliments on my hair, and I have recommended this place to several other people, and they love it as well. I also had a European facial from Cecile, and a pedicure from Liz, and both were excellent.

brought a visiting friend for a Mani/​pedi. Wow. This place looked like a salon next to the Bates Motel. The nail section offered broken pedi chair with unsterilized equipment. The Emory board was even bare! Poor selection of polish. The manicurist had one of the hairdressers do my pedicure, probably her first. The staff was pleasant and I could go on, but why?
Since then, I was contacted by the spa to reassure me their chair is «top of the line» and the equipment had been sterilized. Perhaps the floor isn’t level because the chair did wobble. (The nail tech’s chair was peeled of it’s vinyl.) Personally, I found the nail salon section to be rather dark, not quaint. In addition, I found they were over priced especially for the pedicure for which I paid.

Weird location… looks like somebody’s house. ancient equipment just like the workers. Probably an okay place to take your great grandma for a perm real quik, creepy old guy is the receptionist and barber. Super creepy.

After years of bad or mediocre hair cuts I found Contempo. Like many of us I came from up North and had to find a new stylist. I didn’t expect it to be so difficult. I’m very easy to work with and understand it can take a bit to achieve what you want but I had come to the conclusion that this was going to be nearly impossible. The color product I was used to was unheard of in this area. I was introduced to Duane and Cecile at a local function. When Duane mentioned he had a salon I asked him if he had heard of my old product. To my delight, that is mostly what they use. Since then I look forward to my happy cuts and color. To add to the bliss the location is so pretty. If you have a pedicure you can watch the boats go by. Cecile is a professional Aesthetician. Among her abilities she can put renewed glow to your complexion with her mineral make up, gently wax your brows and color them to match your hair. If you haven’t found a good salon yet you really need to give them a try. Be sure to visit their website and print a new client coupon.
