Express Smog & Auto Service

If it were possible to leave a NEGATIVE –5 star review I would without hesitation. I called at 4:30 and explained to the gentlemen on the phone that I would like to get my car smogged. I informed the person that I had it smogged at A DIFFERENT place and it failed because it «wasn’t ready». There was a problem with the secondary air injection pump and now that it is fixed, and there is no check engine light on I’m assuming it’s now ready to pass the emissions test. The person on the phone told me to bring it by and there would be NO CHARGE to see if it’s «ready». When I arrived a young man (very nice) came out with the code scanner and proceeded to plug it into the diagnostic port of my vehicle when the shop owner (so it seemed) came out and started barking in broken English to the young man asking him «what are you doing, who said to do that». I went ahead and told the second man that I had called and that they told me it would be free to check and see if it’s ready. He said with a rather stern tone «did you smog it here??». I answered «no I did not». Then he says: «so what makes you think I’m going to do this for free??». I’m thinking «uhh I don’t know maybe the fact that I was told it’ll be NO CHARGE over the phone». I was immediately upset with the man because his attitude was not professional at all. He began to ask me a bunch of questions as to where I got the pump and how much it costed me. I told him I got it used and it was tested in front of me. He kept saying I need a new one and just to check it out, would be $ 120. I left immediately. I’m sure these guys are good and fair. Not so sure I believe them to be honest though. He was definitely rude and unprofessional and that right there is enough for me to take my business elsewhere! Even if it’s more expensive!

I went in for a smog check. I passed! Yayyyyyy! The two men working there were very friendly & gave excellent customer service! He even referred me to a local business for auto body work & paint (which I desperately need). I’ll be coming back for an oil change!
