With fruti tacos being a place I pass by on a daily basis, I assumed that it could potentially be a great place for me to get something to eat on the way home regularly. Damn was I wrong! I’m sure this place has good intentions and I would have loved for this place to be better than it was. I stopped by on my way home from work one day and went in and right away notice that there was no one in there. I thought that maybe I got lucky, or maybe it’s not that good. But being the California burrito connoisseur that I am, I decided to give it a go anyway. I ordered a California burrito and got my order in a plate, I was suspicious just by looking at it from outside the bag, but the bag was all tied up and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, so I get home ready to devour my burrito only to open up my plate to the worst Carne asada fries I’ve ever eaten. It was a plate of french fries, squares of steak, and 7 – 11 type nacho cheese… I am now forever scared and will take a break from California burritos and carne asada fries. It is never my intention to bash a business, because I don’t wish bad things on anyone and would hate to see them fail, but a lot of the reviews were right and it is easily 1 – 2 stars. With that being said, it is a nice place and hope they improve.

Suzy R The people working at fruti taco are not chinese do some research before making an ignorant review that down plays a small business like this. As for the establishment itself they were great. Good size good price love the ambience of it. I stop by all the time when im in town. Parking is a problem so park down the street and a quick walk but other than that I would def recommend fruti tacos

Great taco place. Good thing its near my home. Service is ok. They do need more employees! ! Only reason im ginmving a 4 rating is because the food was really good. Last time we went. Took about 30 for service and still no food. So we ended up leaving. Sadly

I have been driving past this«hole in the wall» taco place for two years after we moved into this East County area. Yes it’s difficult to park — the street is very busy and the restaurant is on the north side of the street. When the sun is going down you cannot see any oncoming traffic. There are three spaces that back directly out onto the street. None of that would be for me, a deterrent for frequenting a taco shop. As for the food, it tasted pretty fresh, my portions were on the smaller side, food was served with some grilled veggies, a nice condiment. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, carne asada quesadilla and a chicken taco. Quesadillas are small and cost $ 3.25. Tacos are small and cost $ 1.75 stuffed with some meat and guacamole. There was some gristle in my chicken meat which I hate biting into — rather minor. As for service, I think the restaurant may prefer to serve the neighborhood hispanic foot traffic. It almost felt like«gringos» are not expected. The menu is in Spanish. If the vibe were more welcoming, I might go back — try their horchata and a torta. However, it’ll probably be a long time before I return there.

BOMB! Don’t listen to the downers. If you love street tacos in TJ, you will love this place. They are very nice, and they also have a good fruit bar inside. YUMMMM!

Not a big fan. I am really debating on if I should give them a 2 star rating… So my 1st time here, I ordered a Adobada Taco from the guy working at the«grill». I starting biting into and noticed it lacked flavor and the second bite I started biting into crunchy burnt pieces of adobada. Really if I want crunchy burnt stuff I’d go chew on rocks… Total let down. So the 2nd time I tried this place, I did not go nor did I order from it. My boyfriend went, he came back with a Lomo Torta and gave me a piece and it really was good. So I thought okay maybe I will give them another try…(Brave I am) 3rd time… I was going back for a Lomo Torta and course they were out… So I tried a Pollo Asado Torta. Thinking I will play it safe. HAHA. I was wrong. I should have went to taco bell instead. Seriously, the chicken was nasty, had the gross charred taste with no flavor besides that. Seem to have the texture of Tyson’s chicken strips just cut into chunks. The salsa wasn’t bad… Maybe next time I will go for some chips and salsa! MUAHAHAHA!

I drive past this particular location almost daily. I haven’t been here in 4 years, the last time I came it wasn’t the greatest. Talking to the guy that worked here today, stated they have since been under new ownership. We stopped on by to try some of their tacos. We went here on a Sunday evening around closing time 9:30’ish. We had to wait for parking as they only have 3 spots. As other reviews have stated, finding parking here during peak times is probably difficult. We ended up having a few Carne Asada tacos and an adobada taco. Here’s the low down so far, i’ll edit as I try different items: –Carne Asada taco: The tortillas here are home made which makes the taco way more awesome! The meat is flavored(which is hard to find most places don’t really flavor there meats), it also came with guacmole and pico de gallo. The asada tacos here are pretty decent. I want to come back during the day to try another. –Adobada taco: My wifey had the adobada and stated that the meat was charred to the point where there was no flavor. Perhaps the meat at this time of night sucks? We will also try this again. We will be back to try out the birria, menudo, and perhaps one of their tortas. Hopefully we don’t get a fingernail in our food as one of the other Unilocalers stated earlier. I was a little grossed out after reading that. To be continued…

I decided to try this place because I just love hole’s in the wall taco places… but this place was not good. Tacos are expensive and I can get better at Nando’s. Id steer clear from here.

THEBESTTACOPLACEEVER!!! The BESTFOODINSANDIEGO, with no doubts. Best tacos, excellent fresh meat, incredible fruit drinks and horchata, and even better service. Everything is home-made and very healthy and natural. The owners(Gloria and William) are wonderful, very cultured people who care a lot and try to make their clients happy, they are super nice. I live in North County, and it’s really worth driving down to Spring Valley just to enjoy their great food. Highly recommended. THEBESTFOODANDSERVICEINCALIFORNIA.

Ok… So I been to a few fresh fruit places and I guess I was expecting A LOT more outta this place… 1st off the parking is pretty wack… its a busy street and theres like, only 3 parking spaces right in front… when its busy it’s difficult to back out. Anyhow, I had previously read Unilocal reviews that the employees come to your table to take your order so we sat down and waited… BUT no one came… And by now a few ppl were in line to order so we got up and got in line as well. As we waited I noticed some fire fighters ordering and one of them had to pay for the other because this place doesnt take debit… only cash… so if you absolutly dont have cash you have to cross the street to the ATM at the Valero Gas station. Back 2 my order… I ordered 2 tacos de carne asada, an ensalada de fruitas, and a agua(water) de horchata… it took them a while to bring me my water… and maybe 5 minutes later they brought us our orders… I’m not sure if it took long because of the lunch hour we were there at… but the service was kinda slow… the quality of the food was so so… honestly when i’ve drivin by in the past its smelt so much better than what it actually tasted like. They were just regular tacos… nothing too much to be WOW’d about. Would I go back, probably not… theres better taco shops in the area… as far as the fruit goes I rather drive a bit for something fresher… If it was the last taco shop in san diego would I eat it… sure… it wouldnt kill me…

I’ve been to a lot of taco spots and this one by far is THEBEST. Prices are GREAT and the food is delicious. I love the chicken tacos and the chicken torta is to die for… YUMMMMM. I’m telling you, it is delish! CASH only. They need to get a TO-GO menu, though.

Fruit Fruiti, you so good to me, I want to have your baby!!! I am NOT a morning person, but there’s one sure fire way to get me crazy pumped in the morning: any talk of a Fruiti Taco. Dear lord. The meats, all perfectly seasoned and tender, fresh grilled to order in front of the building. The salsas, red and green, are enough to give them 5 stars. The tortillas are fresh thick and chewy… ahhhh yeah. The accompagnement include fresh fire-roasted onions and peppers. The rest: Shrimp Tostatas are amazing. Each tostada is topped with a HUGE amount of large and plump shrimp pieces marinated to ceviche-heaven and garnished with avocado slices. I die. Birria. My mom cannot come here on a weekend without noshing on a bowl of their Birria. Writing this review makes me so depressed that I live 140 miles away. If you are in the SD area, go there now and eat something for me. NOTE: 1) If you are not a Spanish speaker, know there is very little English spoken here, but they are EXTREMELY willing to try to communicate and feed you. 2) The parking here SUCKS, it may take a few drives around the block to get one of the three spots, but it is worth it. DONOT park in front of the convenience store, the owner is MORETHANHAPPY to tow you.

I have grown up eating Mexican food my entire life and have eaten the best that Mexico has offered from various states in Mexico. This place is the best that I have have eaten at. You can walk in and order at the register or you can pick a table and someone will go and take your order. The meat isn’t grilled until you order it, although it may take 10 minutes to get your food it’s well worth the wait. In the mean time you get red and green salsa with chips to munch on while you wait. Once one of the workers bring your tables order, they also bring you freshly grilled green onions, jalapeños with radishes and limes. Make a trip to Spring Valley to eat here, it is Christian with a «K» approved. –Kristian

Just heard about this place today and after getting a good appetite going I decided to take the short drive over. First, parking is a bit of a hassle and the waitress didnt know much english, but it was alright I got by. Now to the good stuff, the food! I ordered a carne asada quessadilla and a carne asada taco both with the works. Both were very authentic and very good! The proportions were a good size as well and it wasnt going to break my wallet in price either. Will I ever go back? You bet! This food is fresh and amazingly good, if you live in Spring Valley you should check this place out.
