Worst carne asada fries ever… My fries were so hard and crunchy and tasted so old. Guacamole was also dark green– not cool. Totally inedible.

This place was great. Super friendly service and the food was pretty awesome. We got the steak and shrimp burrito. I’m here to tell you bring a couple of friends this thing has to weight 2 pounds, seriously it’s a monster, the wife and I both could only kill about 60% of it. The girl almost had to bring the thing out on a forklift it was so huge. They do have a salsa bar but they were out of a couple of the salsas, we did pour the last little bit of the habanero salsa out to try it and it was actually a bit spicy. They have 4 salsas in all, 1 of them is more like a sweet BBQ sauce, wasn’t a fan of that one. They have standard carrots and jalapenos like most places, but they also have the deep fried salted serrano peppers. Good points there for them. We also got a tostada it was good as well. We both ate there for something like $ 13 and couldn’t finish the food it was a great deal! I will say you need to bring your own cutlery though because the plastic knives and forks are really no match for the monster burritos they dish out here. There is also a fruit business that shares the same space with the taco shop they are completely separate so don’t get upset if they don’t take your order, I did see the girl ring the bell for the taco side when customers were waiting and they were unaware though.

I been going here for years since I was about 16 years old I’m 22 now. Let me say this place has changed a lot. I went there recently and I ordered carne asada fries. It was great up until I found a long black hair in my food. Nobody in that kitchen was wearing hair nets. I was very upset and disgusted. The lady at the counter said she was sorry and offered to make a new batch. This place doesn’t ever deserve one star. I recommend a health inspector have a look at that place. Everyone should be able to enjoy there food without having to find a hair or anything that shouldn’t be in there food.

The cali burrito & cardne asada fries are dank. The food is big so you get a bang for your buck. They have a good salsa bar, and nice customer service.

Ordered the carne asada tacos and California burrito, they were both okay. We’ve had carne asada with more flavor at other taco joints.

I think Hectors is under new management or new ownership. I noticed the menu looked different, the inside was cleaner, counter was clear of the usual décor. Once I got home and took a bite out of my California Burrito I knew the old Hectors was no more. I’m gonna miss their California Burritos. Me and my sister won’t be coming back because that was the only thing we ordered at Hectors.

I Saw this place packed one day and figured I should give it a try. We ordered a Carne Asada quesadilla, and the barbacoa to go. The Carne Asada was burnt and uneatable… but it had oaxaca chesse which made the quessadilla great once i took all the asada off. Oh and the barbacoa was mainly bone. Overall this place was a disappointment. Cash only No salsa bar

Nasty is the only word that comes to mind. Sorry, We ordered the Carne Asada Burrito. Their meat was chopped up so small that the tomatoes chopped up were bigger than the meat.

I’ve been going to Hectors for about 8 years now. I LOVEIT. my favorite taco shop. Living in San Diego i’ve been to every single taco shop imaginable. everywhere. but Hectors has them beat. The Carne Asada Fries are my favorite. any other taco shop i can eat carne asada fries and still feel a little bit hungry. at hectors i feel full half way through. They also have AMAZING rolled tacos. The only down side is they stopped taking cards so i have to go to an atm everytime i want to buy food, also they close very early :/even on weekends. I’ve been all over san diego and literally this place has the best carne asada fries and tacos i’ve ever had.

The service was great and I felt welcome along with the other big group that followed in behind me. It was a different setting for a taco shop. The soccer game played and everyone watched as they waited for their food. For the first time in my life I stood in line with a blank look on my face because I had absolutely no idea what to order and I am glad the phone rang as it was my turn to tell the cashier what I wanted. It gave me a few more seconds to think. It’s hard to decide what to eat when everything looks sooo good. Everything looked great. I ended up ordering an adobado burrito, chips and salsa(fresh made to order) and a mole plate which really hit the spot for my first time having it. I didn’t get the«full feeling» after I left. Usually I feel fat when I eat at taco shops but the food was light and the salsa was definitely fresh. I like this place and glad I came in and tried it out today!

Had a bean & cheese burrito last night. Was decent, but not enough beans, it was like a tortilla burrito.

I have had chicken mole hundreds of times in my life and it has always been served with whole pieces of chicken. At Hectors they serve little cut up pieces of chicken like what you might put in enchiladas or burritos and mix it in the mole. I thought it took away from the flavor.
