Might have 4 star Potential but I need to try some more of the tacos and the meat market items before reevaluating them. I do want to give them some exposure through pics and a review because I did see some good deals. They are a mom and pop type business. First off this is also a mini restaurant, mini meat market, limited Mexican grocery store and they have a small section of Mexican pastries. I’m not sure if the pastries are made in house or not but the selection is limited. I heard they were suppose to have a really great menudo. Maybe I came in on an off night. My menudo was not spicy at all. Not even the slightest. The broth was a little watery. They did use more of the honeycomb tripe than their competition which was very good. They also used other stomach inners. I asked for some hominy because I was in the mood for it. I rec’d just very little. I also received chopped white onions, chopped cilantro, 2 little hot sauces(had to ask) and some cactus looking sauce. I found the menudo a bit hard to eat because it was so bland so I really had to add a lot of hot sauce which just isn’t the same as when it’s cooked with chili peppers and more seasonings. I did see a sign saying Carnitas and Barbacoa $ 6.49lb. I think that is for the uncooked marinated ones. I did have communication issues because Spanish is the primary language of the employees when I went. Some of the employees had no comprehension of the English language. The cashier lady was really nice and did speak some English. I just had so many questions I didn’t want to overly pester her after about my 8th question. The meat market is limited but what they did have looked extremely fresh. I would purchase meat there in the future. I also ordered 2 pastor and 2 carnitas tacos. The pastor was boring(2 star) and I would never order it again. The carnitas were very good(4 star). They had good flavoring, were fresh and decently moist. They do need a light salsa and the chopped onions and cilantro to complete them. Their heavy red hot sauce really didn’t work. Nonetheless I would order them again and pick up some red salsa at Taqueria Arandas for them. They also have breakfast tacos and cooked up the tacos fresh in front of me. Overall worth checking if you’re a local.

Best marinated Fajita meat in Houston. Period. My family comes in from out of town and request that I have it ready to eat each time. Ask for Raul.
