Took my family here one day after shopping. It was a rainy Sunday, but there were still quite a few people in there. Our service was great and everyone loved their food. We had four children between the ages 7 through 11. The waitress was very patient with the children and attentive to a group of 8. I had the crab salad sandwich, delicious!!! I would eat there again :)

Great Food, nice proportions and we had a very good waiter — with a great personality. Very pleased with our spur of the moment spot for lunch.

This place is adorable! The staff at the front counter are so sweet. My mom and I went in on our annual trip to Old Town Spring and walked in to get coffee to go. We loved chatting with the staff and so we sat down and hung out for about half an hour. Not only did we have good coffee and the most amazing slice of quiche, but we started off our day on the right foot talking with some really kind people. You keep working towards your goals ladies and gentlemen, you’re going to get there. ;) Also, we stopped by on the way out of town and picked up a massive slice of homemade pie to take to my dad for dessert. It was so good he decided to eat it all in one sitting! We’ll be back!

Stopped by for lunch after incredibly positive feedback on Facebook. We were not disappointed! Soup of the day for be was split pea with ham. Unbelievable! Entrée was chicken fajita pita which was fabulous! My wife had chicken salad sandwich — which also was excellent. Menu has tastes for many different pallets — they even serve gluten free bread by request! Topped it off with peach cobbler ala mode. The place is homey and very comfortable. Wait add and owners both interested in how we enjoyed our meal. Really can’t say enough!

Won’t be choosing this establishment to dine at in the future. Service was very poor, food wasn’t bad but it took an hour to receive it and then we got the incorrect ticket when we were brought the bill. We don’t come to old town spring enough to waist time at an establishment that doesn’t value their clients.

Ellen’s is a great place for lunch a late afternoon snack. Their rueben sandwich is the best I’ve ever had with homemade sauce and fresh ingredients. The bread pudding is not on the menu yet but is phenomenal. Freshly made with real rum sauce, it’s a true out-of-body experience. I’ve been here several times and have never had a bad meal. They also have a good ice cream selection. Staff is always friendly. And to top it off, they have sno-cones on Saturdays!

Great place! This is my 5th visit and I’m in Love! I’ve had the California Turkey sandwich, the Reuben, the chicken artichoke, spinach quiche and all are fantastic! They also have ice cream, smoothies and homemade fudge! The fudge that has three layers is phenomenal! On Saturday they have a snow cone cart out front! And these are real snow cones! Not that crunchy shaved ice! It’s soft and delicious just as a snow cone should be! Love the new owners! Definitely recommend Ellen’s and will be visiting often!

I’m glad a chef who is a food enthusiast has taken over the business. We live down the street and will be visiting often.

A cute place with decent food. We were hailed from the street, which is why we came in, and I’m glad we did. Great quiche, soups, and sandwiches.

Had a birthday party at Wimberley Valley Wine bar in Old Town Spring, we placed our food order with Ellen’s Café. The food was delicious. Sandwiches were big and very fresh. The bacon — spinach quiche was wonderful. We very much enjoyed the meal. My only suggestion is that each order be in individual containers. That way it’s all separated for each individual. Don’t get me wrong, the presentation was great, it’s just that with our get-togethers it works out better that way. Thank you Ellen’s for fresh wonderful food.

Waitress could not answer questions about menu. I told her I was allergic to onions, and ordered ½ turkey sandwich and soup(Ellen’s Special), which she said had no onions. She came back saying that she read the ingredients and onions were in the soup. So ordered a whole sandwich and not the special. She said she couldn’t do that because they had already made the ½ sandwich. So I asked her what my options were. She said I could sub chips. I don’t want chips. I asked for a small salad, which came as lettuce and 2 cucumber slices, and with a dressing with onions in it! I asked her about the onions and she said she didn’t know what was in the dressings. So I paid $ 10 for a half of a turkey sandwich and a couple of chunks of melon. They didn’t seem to care about customer satisfaction. And, SHE acted aggravated. Won’t be back.

We visited Saturday while we were walking around shopping in old town Spring and after quickly checking Unilocal reviews of our choices, decided this place would be nice for a sandwich and glass of wine. It seemed as if any bad reviews were based on price, not quality and we were ok with spending a little more for something tasty. The food was terrible but the service was even worse. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. Once we got our drinks, she took our food order. And then we sat for 27 minutes until some other waiter brought our food. The restaurant was about 2/3’s full so I didn’t expect this long of a wait time. We ordered a chicken Caesar salad and a chicken salad sandwich with a side of pasta salad. This means everything was cold, nothing had to be cooked and we still waited almost 30 minutes for our food. The food was bland, flavorless, the lettuce salad and the pasta salad were drowning in dressing, I picked at as much as I could, just to fill my hungry tummy. The chicken salad(which we were told was a best seller) was flavorless, if this is the best seller then people that eat here must not have taste buds. It took a long time to get our check. I would never come back or recommend this place, there are just too many other options in the vicinity to waste your time on this place.

We really enjoyed this little restaurant. The atmosphere is nice. It looks pretty dated but it’s clean. The albacore tuna salad was fresh and delicious. I also thought the basic salad was fresh and tasty. Its a great lunch spot.

It was a hot summer day in August — the humidity and heat barely manageable. Not many shops in Old Town Spring were open, so when we happened on Ellen’s Café we decided to cool down inside and have some lunch at about 1245 pm. Upon entry, the café had a «mom and pop» appeal. When entering the establishment, to the left was an appealing ice cream shop and to the right was the café. The first table in the café area was cluttered with disorganized papers, calculator, and other office supplies. Not so much an eyesore but more so of a «welcome to my business» appeal. Some may not like this, but I do and appreciate the«family-oriented» view. There were three of us in the group; me, my brother, and his wife who were from Oklahoma and in Houston for a visit. We all ordered something different. I ordered the Tuna(Cheddar) Melt with chips, brother ordered the Café’ Chef Salad, and sister-in-law ordered the CBS Sandwich. Both of them liked their food and said it tasted good and got a good size serving. My Tuna Melt was very good — great tasting tuna salad with cheddar cheese inside two pieces whole wheat bread and grilled perfectly to a nice crisp. You would think the tuna salad would not taste so good inside grilled bread, but it tasted great. For dessert my brother and I trounced over to the ice cream parlor section. Sarah was helpful in the decision between the many«home-made-daily» ice cream choices available. I chose the Rocky Road in a cup and my brother got the Praline Pecan in a waffle cone. Sarah informed us that she makes all the cones by hand also. It was a welcomed chilly taste to the absurdly humid and hot weather outside. The Rocky Road ice cream was delicious. I took some pictures of the place, but when trying to upload them the network crashed. Dang Sprint does it again and Welps on my Unilocal.Oh well, Sarah had an awesome smile and was very helpful. Cheers to Ellen’s for making the weather bearable for lunch.

Excellent casual eatery in the heart of Old Town Spring. Predominantly salads, sandwiches, soup and related combos. I had Ellen’s special which was a ½ sandwich, cup of soup and fruit for less than $ 10. Very good bread and the soup of the day was chicken tortilla which was also good. Seating inside was plentiful and the a/c was cranking. There is also limited seating on the front and back porch. Overall a very good choice and certainly healthier than the bbq, corn dog and fried Twinkie places that are nearby.

The food was good, but too expensive & way too much dressing! I ordered a club sandwich & side salad with ranch, to go. I expected the dressing to be on the side, but my salad was drenched with it. It was almost too much to eat. The mayonnaise on the sandwich was the same way. I will definitely tell them to lighten up on the sauce next time! The sandwich was huge, so I ended up only eating half. I would suggest maybe making a lunch menu with half a sandwich & a side for a cheaper price. I would eat here a lot more often if that were the case.

I sat outside in the patio, so have no idea how it looks inside. It was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. They had Keebler breadsticks to snack on while you wait for your food. I ordered the Trio Salad– Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad, and Seafood Salad, which was good. The peach cobbler slice a la mode was served in a bowl. The crust was a little salty, but tasted fine overall. I tried my cousin’s double fudge cake a la mode, and it was amazing– super moist and chocolately.

I’m not a fan of foo-foo tea-room sandwich joints but once in a while Mrs Eva drags me into one. That’s what I thought I was getting at Ellens, but wait, there’s more! They had a great looking menu — all cold sandwiches, but a huge selection and soups, and good looking salads… Mrs Eva had a chicken salad sandwich with potato cheese soup and a fruit bowl. I had the crab salad sandwich and the same sides. I was FULL of great food! The waiter was exceptional! When they brought this wheelbarrow sized chef salad to the lady at the next table, I really wanted to help her with all that ham, turkey, olives … Give me some more foo-foo!

Flash back, Golden Girls! It’s an oddity when you first walk in, or maybe it just seemed odd due to the slight confusion of us «customers» entering right when they opened @ 10AM. They have a small gelato/ice cream shop to the left and the beginning of the dinning area to the right. After the cloud of confusion cleared with regards to the staff member realizing we were there to eat and be seated, we were placed all the way to the very back of the establishment. There looked like a «team» meeting was occurring smack dab in the middle, though to be honest there were way to many people for it to be people running this café, so hey you know what they say about assuming things. You make an a. oh never mind. After being seated, I being a coffee fiend quickly requested such. Love the size of their coffee mugs here, and great tasting coffee as well(SIdebar: They have Barefoot wine and Beer). I placed an order for the Southwest quiche with a side salad & Italian dressing $ 9.99. The food wad good though nothing of the wow factor. Very, quiet, quaint, structurally aged place to grab a bite to eat if your down in the Old Town Spring area. It accommodates a lot more than you realize on first glance. There is even outdoor seating, out back. On our exiting there was a large party of much older women, again another meeting I suppose and also I assume why all the random customers were being ushered and seated towards the back of the restaurant.
