This is my first second-person review. My wife and her bestie tried the pork-belly salads and said they were wonderful. They liked the whole place and are looking forward to going back. Fairly priced, well located, simple but appealing décor. That’s enough to make me want to try it.

I went here today for the first time and although SOME of the food was delicious, I most probably will not be returning. The place was empty except for myself, my friend, and one other person at the bar… And yet the service was terrible. With two waiters working and only two tables in use one would assume that you would easily be able to get waited on. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The bread was a little too hard, the sliders were a little off on flavor, and one of the wait staff was a little too unapproachable. The side salad and the escargot stuffed mushrooms were quite appetizing but honestly overall both meals in their entirety were not worth the prices.

What a cozy and romantic place that the hubby and I went to a few months back. Everything we ate here was amazing. Lobster sliders for the app is to die for. My husband had the Chilean sea bass and I wanted to lick his plate it was so delish!

The Black Sheep Bistro is a true gem. This adorable little house in Old Town Spring is small but truly delicious. Everything I’ve tried has blown me away. The pork belly bowl is worth every penny. My only complaints are the odd staff(gossiping and complaining at times within ear shot of clients) and the lack of an updated dessert menu. These 2 things still wouldn’t make me hesitate for one second, I go to The Black Sheep as often as possible.

**Absolutely not good for kids.** I did not take mine, but want to share that general warning. Small kids should not be taken here. It is too crowded for any kid that won’t sit still through the entire meal. I went for lunch with a friend on a weekday. It was pretty busy. I’m not a fan of their set up. There are too many tiny tables crammed into a small space. I was up against a door that opened onto the porch in my seat. There is only one restroom and the hook lock on the door does not work. Our waitress said she was new so she couldn’t recommend anything on the menu. She gave really poor service. She said she would bring bread but never did. The same happened to the table next to us. Our water glasses sat empty until we could ask another server for refills because ours never returned. The food was okay. I had the grilled cheese with tomato soup. My friend had the turkey & brie sandwich. We split the sandwiches to try each. We both preferred the turkey. But in the end — it was just a run of the mill sandwich. The grilled cheese was a bit dry and had a flavor that rang of maybe too much parmesan. The bread, which we finally got from another server, was fantastic. However the garlic butter with it was awful. Way too much garlic to be pleasant. I did hear another table rave about their food. But for me, it was just ok. If someone else really wanted to go, I’d go with them. But I wouldn’t go back on my own. I would try other places first.

I’m sorry to say that this was one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to, and I’ve dined at some of the finest restaurants in the US and Europe. I had the Turkey/cranberry/sandwich and the turkey was dry(and btw it was supposed to be white meat but the color was«off») — it had a really pungent cheese that I did not like the taste of. I’d attribute that to my somewhat pedestrian tastes, except for the fact that no one else in our party reported the food as good either. My sister’s husband ordered the lamb meatballs and three small dried-up meat balls arrived that were really pathetic after getting the large, flavorful, juicy and delicious homemade Italian meatballs at «My Pizza» on Louetta the other day. My sister didn’t feel well and couldnt find even one simpler dish(i personally think every restaurant should have at least 1 or 2 simpler dishes for those who can’t stomach the fancier food, grilled chicken or chicken soup perhaps?), so my sister had the poached eggs and«held the crab cakes and Holandaise sauce»…she said that was ok, but the English muffins were hard, cold & dry. I am sorry but I can’t imagine how anyone would rate this place with 4 stars. I was really disappointed, especially after our $ 80 lunch bill. No I wouldn’t recommend this place. There has to be something better than this in Old Town Spring.

A hidden Gem. This is a great place for a date, or for a nice dinner with a couple of girlfriends. Great service and the food was delicious. I had the filet mignon and I highly recommend this dish. Best of luck!

We have been to Black Sheep Bistro several times and have been very pleased every time with the food and service. You can never go wrong getting there Pork Belly Salad, Filet Mignon, and Chilean Sea Bass. They are always trying to add new things to the menu which makes it very fun to return. The food is always delivered fresh and never kept warm under a heating lamp. One of our favorite local restaurants.

We were invited by friends to experience this restaurant after the 200+ assorted restaurants in The Woodlands. We were not disappointed. We shared the roasted oysters and the escargot stuffed mushrooms for appetizers for starters. We were not disappointed. I had the seafood Mac and cheese(had enough left over for dinner tonight) scrumptious! Husband and friend had the sea bass and both loved it. Our host had the surf and turf and equally enjoyed it. The house/restaurant is quaint and is consistent with the location and a wonderful change from the commercial quality of most restaurants locally. We are oenophiles so we brought our own wine for a modest $ 10 per bottle, though their wine is quite adequate and diversified. We are going back again to introduce two other friends to the restaurant.

Tried this place out for a nice evening snack after wine tasting around the corner. Ordered the crabcakes and a drink. Our waiter was slightly attentive but seemed pissed that we weren’t ordering a whole lot even though we explained we were just there for a small quick bite. The crabcakes were pretty good and the bread they brought us before was excellent. The restaurant itself if tiny and cute, and perfect for a date, but kinda cramped for a group of people.

Brought a group of ladies here for a day in Old Town Spring and made a reservation here because of the good reviews on Unilocal. It ended up being the highlight of our day. The food was amazing. We had the ceviche(best we’ve ever had), lobster sliders, crab cake Benedict, French toast and Brie panini. All were fantastic, fresh, rich, and delish. We had tasty bellinis and mimosas with our meal and would have had more except they were pricey($ 8 per champagne flute). I gave this place four stars because the service was slow and inattentive and the ambience(seating arrangement/furniture) did not match the quality of the menu. I would definitely come back.

I had not heard of The Black Sheep Bistro when my wife communicated to me that she had made reservations here for dinner with friends. We did not order an appetizers; however, the bread basket and butter that they bring to your table was very good. The butter had a slight, garlic taste to it(just right, not overpowering) and the bread was crisp and easy to eat. Some breads are very hard and crunchy, but this bread basket was just right. Our wait staff did a great job of keeping our liquids refreshed and checking on our needs. They were not standing over all the time and allowed us to enjoy our meal and conversations. My wife ordered the Double Cut Pork Chop which was came with Quinoa salad with sugar snap peas and grilled pineapple, and a 5-spice and maple glaze. I ordered the Black Sheep Sliders which was made up of fresh ground lamb and filet mignon, roasted red onion, tomato and bacon jam, blue cheese, all on a challah bun, with a field green salad on the side. The sliders were FANTASTIC!!! You could definitely tell that it was lamb meat which had the right amount of flavor and taste. It was not gamey at all. The flavor of the red onion, tomato and bacon jam, and blue cheese was the perfect balance. I’ve had many burgers where one ingredient overpowered the other or others, which was definitely not the case here. It was a perfect harmony of flavor! For desert we shared the Crème Brulee and I must say was one of the Top 2CB’s I have ever had!!! I’ve had many that tried to get cute with the flavor and toppings and taste and they have failed miserably. The Black Sheep Bistro’s Crème Brulee was topped with fresh fruit which was a very flavorful touch. And the custard itself was delicious, the way a Crème Brulee should taste. We had the pleasure and privilege of meeting the owners, Maria and Joe, who sat down and spoke to us for quite a while. They were very personable and fun to carry on a conversation. It is these types of restaurants that I choose to spend my money at. Where the food is great, the atmosphere is fun, and the owners take the time to stop by and Thank You for dining in their restaurant! I will go back to The Black Sheep Bistro time and time again!!!

The Service was not that great but the entrees were fantastic. The crab cake needed seasoning but everything else was great. Not much of a wine list. The setting was very nice. Will be back!

Huh? Well first of all I felt sorry for the overwhelmed waitress who alone was handling 2 rooms full of people. Now for the review… my wife had the roasted chicken. It was very very average. I had the pork chops. Super dry and the side dish waaaaaaaaaaaaay to sweet. I had some sort of sticky stuff stuck like taffy in my teeth. Honestly, this place is super OVERPRICED for this food quality. Who knows, perhaps lunch time is a better time to eat here. But I think we probably will not chance it. BTW still waiting for my tea refill.

This place is a perfect stop when your out shopping with the ladies in Old Town. Nice ambience and perfect portions for lunch. I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato soup, and I have to say the food is on point! Between the fragrant cheeses and mushrooms and the bread dipped in the warm tomato soup, I didn’t want it to end. The service was ok, and the ambience is good. I would like to try this place out during the dinner hour too.

So nice to have a good place for a great date night that isn’t in The Woodlands or Downtown! The Bistro is a hidden gem in Old Town Spring. No ritzy valet out front, no fighting for a parking spot in a garage 10 blocks away. Just a quiet, easy going, delightful date. YES. Our waitress was very kind; she didn’t hover over us but wasn’t too far away for anything we needed. We started with the Roasted Beet & Asparagus Salad which was actually my favorite dish of the evening. Fresh with great combo of flavors. The hubs had the Chilean Sea Bass which was sweet and crunchy on the outside but melted in your mouth. He actually liked the spinach on the plate just as much. I ordered the Chicken with 3 Mash(Sweet Corn, Avocado & Roasted Red Pepper). It was a bit on the salty side but still tasty. I really hope more people go and enjoy this quaint little place. Would love to see it stay around OTS. Would love to see more upscale ambiance inside to match the amazing dishes.

This quaint house turned restaurant delivers solid food. Some of my favorites include the curry cauliflower soup, crab cake, sliders, and crawfish mac and cheese. The staff is nice, but attentiveness lacks during high volume hours. However, this is not enough to detract from the delicious food, and we will be back.

So after 16 years in Houston I finally decide to visit Old Town Spring. It was around lunch time and the choices in OTS are typical american(burgers and fries), fried oreos, a deli, and the Black Sheep. The menu here seemed like a mix of the usual and some things that made me go «hmm», so it won the internal debate. The negatives? It is a bit cramped inside and it looks like they might have inherited the furniture from the previous establishment. That’s really all I’ve got. That said, it looks like they are trying to add more outdoor seating to make up for this. But if you have a large group(like 5+)? You might want to call first and make a reservation so you know you’ll quickly get a seat. I ordered the«Fancy grilled cheese with tomato soup». The soup was very good, had lots of flavor, and the consistency was nice — somewhere between a purée and a soup. The grilled cheese was awesome– 3 cheeses pouring out from two pieces of ciabatta bread with mushrooms and bacon! Yum! I asked to see the dessert menu even though I was pretty stuffed. Most of the items were pretty standard for a restaurant of this caliber(ex: Tiramisu and Key lime pie), but then they also had cannoli. And while I didn’t have any wine, they seemed to have plenty in their racks. I notice some reviews say it is BYOB. Many restaurants do this up and until they get their liquor license, so this is another thing I’d call first about. And one last plus? Three portals all in range. So bring some friends, deploy, and hack away people! Definitely a place I’d suggest to anyone visiting OTS who doesn’t want the typical burgers or deli fare.

Finally got a chance to come back and try their dinner menu. Here’s a list of what we ordered and what I rated it out of 5 stars being the best. Starters: *duck confit 4⁄5 tender, flavorful the sauce complimented it well. *crabcakes 5⁄5 superb, loads of crab meat. Entrees: *sea bass 3/5, ok so this was hard as I loved the sea bass itself, it was amazing, moist, flaky, flavorful! Loved the miso glaze that was on the fish, however the broth beneath with the sautéed spinach was way to salty and overpowering. I couldn’t believe how salty it was. Had the fish been this salty as well I probably would have sent it back. *steak 4⁄5 cooked to perfection, tasty and tender. *lamb shank 3⁄5 nice and tender and meat falling off the bone but def not the best lamb shank I’ve had. I felt it was lacking something. I guess maybe I prefer a little gravy or sauce when I have lamb shank, like how the Mediterranean restaurant serves it. However, my sister ordered this and ate the entire thing and loved it! Desserts– *tiramasui 5⁄5 delish! *chocolate mousse 3/5, would have been better if it was a bit chilled, and also it tasted like it was made with dark chocolate. All in all, dinner was most definitely on point and amazing! Also be prepared to spend some dough here, prices aren’t cheap for the entrees but you def get what you pay. The food is executed and presented well, not to mention the portions are very decent! We will be back!

I was in from Tampa to do a jewelry class over at Spring Beads. My friend raved about the turkey brie sandwich at Black Sheep Bistro. Our class and subsequent shopping excursion took us well past their lunch hours. We ambled up and saw it was closed. The sweet young men inside must have seen the dejection on my face and took pity. They made us our sandwiches and we camped out on the porch and they were to die for! Thanks gentlemen! Your culinary talents and manners are to be commended.
