I tried Las Lomas for the first time after reading some reviews. What do you say when one item is outstanding, others are average, and one was poor? The sauce was warm and fairly good. Two kinds of heat were set on the table with chips. The Chunky Avocado Salad was excellent. It is listed as a appetizer for about $ 5 for ½ portion and has chunky bits of avocado(not mashed guacamole as the name implies) plus chunky tomato, onion, and jalapeño. I could make a meal out of this stuff. I have been to only a few places that had anything like this. The cheese enchilada was average. The beef fajita was tough(bordering on inedible). I will probably go back and stick with the Chunky Avocado Salad, enchiladas, and other Tex Mex items but will likely stay away from the fajita. Maybe they were having a bad day in the kitchen. It is hanging on my list by a thread.

I go to Mi Rancho at Kuykendahl and FM2920 once a week and it is always busy. We tried Las Lomas, east about 1 mile, and enjoyed it very much. We have eaten there three times and will continue to go there instead of Mi Rancho because the food is identical and worth giving a try.
