Food and drinks are great! The green salsa is the best I’ve ever had. Give this place a try if you haven’t yet! You’ll find something you love on their menu — guaranteed!

Sunday lunchtime crowd very few tables open — and we still got very good service! We got our drink orders in quickly — and it came out in a few moments. Chips and salsa was delivered soon after the drinks. After a few minutes — our waitress came over and took our food order. The quesadillas(beef-steak?) was very good — I did ask for hot sauce and got Tabasco) Prices are reasonable — As noted in other reviews — this is not your usual Tex Mex restaurant.

I always get the same thing but they are consistently fast and the food is fresh. The one time I switched it up I was still happy with my food. The drive thru staff is always friendlier than the front counter staff but that’s just my experience. They are reasonably priced as well.

OLDREVIEW: Love this place. The owner, and the rest of the staff are very nice and the food is yummy for the price. My faves are the Milanesa with two over-easy eggs, the Flautas and the Taco Salad. Family and friends enjoy the Pozole, the Seafood Soup and the Green Enchilada plate. They have fast service and pretty reasonable prices though lately I think they have gone up a little. The added bonus is that it is not too far from where we live, and they have a drive-thru window so you can call your order in and pick it up pronto. The strip place or real estate it is on, is older and not the swankiest, but the place itself was renovated not too long ago and is clean. An additional thought if you are still on the fence: We saw this place go through many incarnations before it was the Taqueria it is now(a neighbor tells us that at one point it was even a Long Johns Silver). There is a reason this place stuck. Try it out and I doubt you will be disappointed. Would definitely recommend for a quick but satisfying meal. ******************** E D I T: Lately, we have been getting smaller portions and our orders have been wrong(short) about FOUR times in the last month. Just now, we were craving Chips and Chile Con Queso. so we ordered Two Large orders of Chile con Queso and one Small Chips and salsa. Knowing that they have been off the mark recently, I asked that they repeat the order THREE times. The order taker even said: «The Chile con Queso comes with a bag of chips …» to which I replied, «Yes, I know. There are several of us, so we want, two Large Chile con Quesos, with the chips that come with them, and an additional Small Chips and Salsa that of course includes chips too; so in all, we want two large Quesos and a small salsa with three bags of chips.(I almost hated to seem like I was trying to speak slowly to her). She then asked«red salsa?» I said yes. She said, «Okay, it is $ 3.99 for each Chile con Queso and $ 1.99 for the Salsa and Chips.» I almost argued that the website says(and we normally get charged) $ 3.50 for each CcQ, but didn’t. In any case, when we got home, OFCOURSE we had two large quesos and ONE small bag of chips,(we were missing two small bags of chips and the red salsa) but had been charged $ 11. I was actually more upset that we didn’t check the order before leaving the window. Note: We have noticed that most of the problems are in the evenings, on weekends. The staff at those times just seems not to care or are just dim.

Great food, great price! Definitely be back. Chili con queso is a must. Like the flautas and chicken quesadilla too. Good tea, chips and guacamole too. Trying some ground beef and a tamale next time. Decent service and lots of regulars here. They have margaritas too.

Food is mediocre at best. Service is terrible and waist staff seems understaffed. My family and I have dined here a few times and there just always seems to be something wrong. On our last and final visit ever our waiter never put our order in and other tables were served before even though arrived before them. Won’t be going back!

Seriously the closest to authentic Mexican that isn’t Tex-Mex you’ll have in town. Believe me, I searched high and low looking for one I could call«the one». You’d think the Houston area in general would have some bomb places, but you’ll be surprised how disappointed I’ve been. For breakfast I recommend the Breakfast Burrito. So cheap and it’s loaded and jam packed with your favorite b-fast fillings. For lunch/dinner, the fajitas are seasoned perfectly and the rice and beans are on point. If ordering To Go, make sure you check your order before you leave the lot. I noticed this was something they needed to work on, and they haven’t really messed up my order these last few times so I think they’re improving their game.

I stopped by this place one Saturday afternoon on a hunt for a rita. This spot came up as Mexican food good rating on Unilocal so you would think it’s worth a try. Well from the parking lot the spot looks interesting. I’m not familiar with the area but I think this may have been a fast food restaurant with a drive thru. If you walk in you will see what I mean. The walk up counter is still there except you will wait at the front door confused not knowing if you are suppose to seat yourself or not. I walked in and I get passed the confusion and finally am greeted by a lady who didn’t seem to want to be there. She points us to our table and we are seated in a back corner at a very dirty, sticky and nasty table. My 7 year old son didn’t even want to touch the table. I think they got the hint cause a bit after we are seated a guy comes with a spray bottle and a dingy dirty wash cloth that was white at one point. He commences to spraying the table and included us in the mix. He then wipes it down with his mold smelling cloth. I get passed that and make a fair attempt to get what I came for. I order a frozen margarita and a fajita taco, lemonade for my son and my husband mortified at this point opted for water. We waited maybe 5 to 10 minutes after we were sprayed down by dude, the water and lemonade arrive. My son sees a spec at the top of his glass so refused to touch his lemonade then my husband finds a price in his water(BUG). Then my margarita comes. We tried to be as discrete as possible considering there were other people eating and the last thing you want to do is cause a ruckus. We tell the guy very quietly about our issue. Not only did he not apologize, take the water away and offer something else. He says there is nothing there then takes the water to the walk up counter where just about all the employees circle around the glass then eventually pour it out and say there was nothing there. So I cancelled my one fajita taco I had ordered and refused to even taste the margarita that didn’t even look rite. We left this spot and actually found a spot near by worth going back to. I didn’t get to try the food here but from the look of the lack of cleaning I think it was a good call.

Great tacos. The tacos al pastor are amazingly flavorful. Their quesedillas are also amazing.

This place does awesome breakfast tacos! Sometimes one of our generous coworkers grabs a bunch from here and man are they good. I’ve had the ham and cheese before which was really great. I did the potato chorizo and egg today, and it’s so good. They have a drive through which you’ll wait through a little bit because I’m they’re making it fresh per order. At about $ 1.50 per taco you can’t go wrong

The GOOD: The charro beans are perhaps the best I have EVER tasted! It is hard to imagine any way to improve them. I highly recommend picking up a large order to go.(The rice was good, also). Get the charro beans! The lemonade is really, really tasty. I’m not sure if they also have lemonade as a fountain drink — if they do, be sure to request the lemonade from the big clear, circulating cooler(like you used to see in a lot of cinemas). They have about six of these big coolers, some of which have fruit flavors I’ve never seen available anywhere else, so ask your server if that might interest you. If the other flavors are as good as the lemonade, they are well worth the $ 2.50(price as of March 2015). The salsa is very satisfying; served warm. The quesadillas were served on three small, folded tortillas, each with melted(shredded) cheese and meat/seafood. The fresh lettuce and tomato are served on the side for you to add. Nice presentation.(FYI: If you are picturing what many Tex-Mex places call tacos, the only difference seems to be that the shredded cheese is melted in these and usually not melted in those tacos). Many customers were enjoying breakfast items, which all looked delicious,(and served all day with very reasonable prices), including some items not usually found at a Tex-Mex restaurant.(I noticed a review that mentioned this is not a Tex-Mex restaurant. While there may be traditional«Mex» items on the menu, MANY of the items are unequivocally Tex-Mex). The BAD: The cheese enchiladas were… how do I put this? Oh, I know: Do not order the cheese enchiladas. As mentioned, the quesadillas are nicely prepared and presented, but order something other than the shrimp, as they are very bland.(I’m not sure if they offer fried fish quesadillas, but those would likely be tasty). It bugs me when I’m told that it’s fine to have charro beans instead of refried beans, only to find out later about the extra charge for the substitution. Just tell me when I ask in the first place! Similarly, when I ask for more lemonade, please mention that there are no free refills. [Note: I’d seen this in the fine print, but their lemonade is SO good that I knowingly ordered another. I’m fine that refills aren’t free. What annoys me is not mentioning it to the customer. I include the info here to save someone a LOT of money that might take a group of thirsty kids to dinner]. The UGLY: Our server greeted us by saying that she was«tired», that she was«so busy», and that there were«too many customers». Really? This is how you want to start off the relationship? Alrighty, then. My dining partner ordered #26(shrimp enchiladas). Our server brought #25(shrimp quesadillas). When questioned, our server said, «You ordered #26, the shrimp quesadillas.» No, my dear, that is incorrect. But, hey, I’m just the customer. Upon receiving the check, we pointed out that it listed #26 as shrimp enchiladas. Our server told us that she’d noticed the same thing. She had NOT, apparently, felt the need to share that information with us at any point prior to this. She went on to mumble something about«the kitchen». At NO time did she apologize or give us any indication that she cared in any way, shape, or form. The kicker, though, was what followed. Our server picked up some of the dishes, but remained standing next to us. When asked what else she needed, she said, «the check.» So, she stood there and watched, waiting while we signed the receipt. Given her proximity and body language,(she actually leaned in closer after asking for the restaurant’s copy of the check), this behavior seemed very unprofessional. [FYI: We ended up tipping 15%. Personally, I’m hoping the young lady considers it a severance and seeks a profession that she finds more rewarding].

The girlfriend and I love this restaurant and eat here at least once a week. I’ve lived in so cal my whole life, and I had all but given up on good Mexican food(not tex-mex!) in Houston until this place. The food is amazing, and the service is even better. We’re always greeted by friendly faces and have never left unsatisfied. I personally love the flautas, and the girlfriend really enjoys their enchiladas. Honestly, we’ve had quite a bit of the menu items by this point and have enjoyed every single one of them. Also, their margaritas are to die for(get ‘em on the rocks). This place definitely isn’t like Gringos, or any other similar tex-mex place, but that’s a good thing. Give them a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

I come here about once or twice a week on average. Service is absolutely great. Everyone is so friendly and nice. I come here and always have the torta al pastor. It’s my favorite type of food on the planet and tastes just like the ones I’ve had in Mexico City. And guess what? It costs $ 2.75. Add a little bit of that extremely spicy, yet orgasmic green salsa that they have and you have yourself the meal of a lifetime. Just might as well thank me later. Also, if you’re a spicy salsa aficionado. Please, do yourself a favor and try this house salsa that they have. I’ve never had a salsa hurt me so good. For drinks, their agua de Jamaica is a must try– very refreshing. If you’re looking for something smooth, try the horchata. You can’t go wrong with either. Enjoy!

Love this place! You will notice it is always frequented by people of Hispanic origin, so that right there tells you it’s good. AMAZING prices, authentic Mexican good. This is NOT Tex-Mex, this is not some fancy, over priced Pappasitos style place. I think most of the negative reviews are due to that. Everything has great flavor and it’s always super fresh. We eat here at least once a week. I don’t understand the negative reviews about service at all. Yes, English is most of the employees 2nd language but, they are always kind & courteous. If you are looking for true Mexican food in a not overly stuffy environment, try this place out. In reference to some of the other reviews. The pregnant lady read the menu wrong, it’s a meat burrito & as I stated before, we eat here at LEAST once a week, never even had a slightly upset tummy. Maybe just stuffed ;)

I love this place. I drove by this weekend, but I had already eaten so I didn’t stop. I did notice that the parking lot was FULL. I decided to pop in today to see what the place was about. As soon as I walked in, I observed what looked to be like a typical taqueria. I sat down and browsed the lunch menu. I noticed a few things upon looking at the menu. Food looked authentic — check Food was cheap — check Food looked good — check So I proceeded to order the lunch quesadillas. They looked and tasted just like the picture — they were great. In looking at some of what the other patrons ordered — everything looked good and authentic. The only thing not authentic about this taqueria is the place looks and feels clean! I am looking forward to returning so I can sample other things on the menu.
