This place has changed ownership. We went here thinking we could decorate our own cupcakes. Alas, that was the previous owners. The new owners seem really nice and really want to make a go of it. We bought several cupcakes to give them a try. I would say if you are in the area and want a cupcake then stop in. I was hoping they would be like the famous Georgetown cupcake from DC. There is room for improvement for this cupcake shop.

I wanted to love this place since I live close and love cupcakes … But after sampling 5 different cupcakes I cannot come close to loving it. In fact. they may be the worst cupcakes I have ever eaten. The cakes themselves run the spectrum of gummy to grainy to spoiled tasting. None of mine were moist or fluffy or any of the yummy things a cake should be. Then there is the frosting. The cream cheese frosting is just that … Cream cheese. No sweetener or flavoring. Just soft warm cream cheese. The buttercream was odd. Perhaps shortening? Definately not butter . The idea is very cute and the shop is cute but I think they need a good baker to actually turn the cute ideas into yummy cupcakes . One week they did Wizard of Oz themed cupcakes. Adorable right? Well one of them was supposed to be a cinnamon cake with cream cheese frosting and apple topping. It was canned pie filling which tasted like. canned pie filling. a bakery should not be using canned anything in my opinion . Then last week my daughter convinced me to try AGAIN and her raspberry white chocolate tasted spoiled. It had a very sour taste like old milk. My nutella cupcake tasted no more like nutella than I do. Plus the frosting was lumpy and kind of curdled feeling in my mouth. Sadly I won’t be returning here. I would rather drive the twenty minutes or so to DLM or even just go to Kroger who shockingly beats this place.

Still a big fan of this place and I try to talk them up when I can. Tried out the«southern favorites» selection and my mother and sister were quite happy since there were a few non-chocolate options since they had given it up for Lent. I opted for a red velvet because I was under no such restrictions. Now, I will say that my favorite red velvet is Sprinkles and I have not yet found one to surpass it. However, since the closest location is up in Chicago, I have tried all of the versions around town. This would be my favorite that I’ve gotten locally and I will definitely be reordering it again. I’m also a fan of the rocky road, which is one of the ones you can have them assemble on-site. Something about sticky marshmallows and chocolate. Mom and sister gave thumbs up on their peach cobbler and apple butter, though my sister said she would like more frosting, but she loves the stuff… she prefers something more like Gigi’s, but not me… I like a perfect balance of both cake & frosting. Frost’s is my favorite hands down. Looking forward to the new location opening up in Lebanon, although it might be bad since it’s on my way home from the gym at the Y…
