Love everything Steve and the crew serve up. Gyros are the best in the area, All the dogs (Especially Chicago and WVa dogs) are spot on. Potato salad is one of a kind. Chicago beef dipped as good as you get in Chicago. Stop by with the family and enjoy.

A really cute place to have lunch. We have driven by this place over the years and never really gave it a thought. Decided to try it today and it was great. Our grand daughter was with us and was fascinated by both the décor and the owner. The hot dogs were good and the potato salad was outstanding

We stumbled across this place just passin through. So much fun! Little place but the dogs have big taste! Husband and I shared the Scruffy dog (Chicago style), the Hound dog (West Virginia style), and the Grumpy dog (New York style). Tough to decide which was best! Don’t miss out on the potato salad!

We had been meaning to try Scruffy’s for a year and finally made it in. (Since it’s only open for lunch it’s hard to get there.) Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The main reason I was willing to go there was for a Polish sausage, which they were out of. My husband lived in Chicago for a while and couldn’t wait to have an Italian beef. We, of course, wanted to dip our Italian beef sandwiches, but they didn’t offer that. They didn’t offer cheese either, which was strange. Anyway, the beef was very dry. I didn’t finish my sandwich and the potato salad is overrated. I have absolutely no desire to return. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the owner was friendly.

My wife and I went to Scruffy’s after reading the reviews on Unilocal.Now I’m writing my own. Not just another hotdog. I had the West Virginia Coney with slaw, a gyro because I’m Greek and I can, potato salad and a melt in your mouth chocolate cookie/​cup cake combo. Next stop I will have the Chicago Style and can’t wait to bring our grandchildren with us!

I had my first Gyro today and it was amazing! Freshly made, loaded with meat, HUGE and I ate the whole thing! I had heard that the potato salad is amazing so I got it too, and I was not disappointed! (It has BACON in it!) While I waited I had a nice conversation with the owner. Small businesses like this are what makes Springboro great. What are you waiting for, RUN and get a Gyro! I will definitely be back many many many more times!

Best Italian Beef I’ve ever had outside of Chicago! The Hound Dog was amazing as well! The potato salad is perfectly seasoned! Steve’s got everything down to a science! He’s also got some amazing stories about all the Chicago memorabilia hanging up in his restaurant!

Stopped in today because I’ve been craving a good chili dog. It was yummy. Even better than the dog was their potato salad. It was AWESOME! The staff was friendly and very patient as I asked a bunch of questions. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I feel it’s a little pricey. I would go again, even if it was only for the potato salad.

Fun Chicago atmosphere, wonderfully friendly owner! Great conversation as he makes the orders. The Chicago dog is tops, great quality dog. The gyro is great as well! Good price points! The secret weapon is his potato salad, the best I’ve had in awhile outside of the local Oktoberfest’s. Wonderful spot!

Gyro meat was dry tasted old. We had to sneak them in the trash. Hot dogs were ok but kids didn’t finish them. Chili was poured on top of the cheese causing it to melt into a soggy bun. The price seemed high for the quality.
The service was good and so was the potato salad. But overall we left disappointed.

I put Scruffy’s dogs up against Chicago Gyros and Dogs in Dayton any day. Great dogs. The reason it gets 5 stars is because the owner is so personable… great guy, great service, all while serving up a great dog! So if you are in the Springboro area or in the mode for a drive, head to Scruffy’s! Oh, and check the times it is open… it has some funky hours if I remembers.

With this place being just next to where I grew up its hard not to make a stop every time I’m home from CBUS.
Scruffy’s features Vienna beef franks and canine-​themed décor. This is one of the only places I have found that serves the TRUE Chicago style dog, if it’s not Vienna beef, it’s not a Chicago dog.
One thing about the owner is he is a HOT DOG alumni of Hot Dog University Chicago, IL
He makes a great and authentic Chicago Style Dog.

What Springboro needs, now that they are Money Magazine’s 42nd best place to live in the US, is an authentic Chicago style hot dog place. No, wait — there’s Scruffy’s. I visit Chicago four times a year and my first meal is always a Portillo’s Chicago style hotdog. Self promotion: I am a hot dog expert. So imagine the trembling store employees as I bit into a Scruffy’s offering as if I was a TV show host for Food Network. You only need look at the rating to learn of my reaction.

first time I have had a chicago style dog… wow — is it delicious! and their home-​made potato salad is to die for! lots of bacon and very creamy, with chunks of potatoes… skip the chips (as Steve says) and get the potato salad!

They got it right, Vienna dogs and beef, great Gyro’s and really good potato salad! Cute little place and friendly service. The only thing that would make it better would be fresh fries.
