The food here is not bad. To me it was alright. My friend, his family and my parents didnt like it because the chicken was too soft(its because they cook it then grill). The price was very cheap and i like the yellow sauce. The bananna was good, the smash potato was not that good. I would come back to get ¼ a chicken and bannana if im hungry and crave for some peruvian chicken.

Dirty place, too bad the place has quite a potential to be a hit, dining area and tables, chairs wobbly bathroom unattended.

If you have even the slightest craving for chicken this is the place. The restaurant is small but the chicken is amazing and for a pretty decent price. I got the half roasted chicken with fries and wifey chicken saltado, which was amazing. We will definitely be coming here more often.

Ok. Let’s start with, once you have had the best everything else falls short. Let’s face it, there are not a lot of options in the kingstowne area for some really good Peruvian chicken. My usual go to is El pollo Rico and this place never disappoints. My wife and I wanted to try a place closer to our home, so we gave this place a chance. I ordered a half white meat chicken with Cole slaw and yuca. The chicken was almost flavorless and super dry. The cole slaw was sour. The only thing that was decent was the yuca. It also left a bad after taste in my mouth. GROSS! The yellow sauce tasted like straight up mustard with a little mayo mixed in. Will not be back!

Chicken is great but the sides are amazing! Totally recommend yuca, mashed potato, slaws and fries. Service is fast and accommodates if you like a specific type of meat eg dark meat.

Food was ok. Service was extremely slow. Someone actually walked out because the cashier was too busy to take their order.

I like Coco Rico — I wish they had better reviews. I ordered ½ chicken with rice & yucca. I will say, most of the reviews advise you to order double rice — do it. I didn’t really like the yucca much, but the rice was so good, and they aren’t super stingy with their sauces. I believe the ½ chicken comes with 2 of each sauce. They also have combos that come with a drink, but I ordered the entrée only. They have a variety of foods, not just rotisserie chicken. My vegetarian friend ordered cheese quesadilla and she ate it all. The prices are also pretty good. Next time I’m camping out at my friend’s house in Kingstowne, I will find myself here for more food. Love it.

I like this little place near the Springfield town center. Coco Rico is close by if you live in Springfield and the chicken is very well done. It rivals the more we’ll know pollo a la brass places in nova. I enjoy the yellow sauce with rice combination. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

There’s only one place that I would say is better than this place, but it’s in Arlington and too far to drive, so this place gets our business once a week. Delicious. Not the biggest fan of their sides and although I’ve tried other items from their menu, the only thing I like is the rotisserie chicken with rice. It’s good and best of all, it’s Halal!

Today was my first time in this place and my husband and I had a great experience over all! A very friendly young lady helped us choose what to eat, She recommend my husband to try the lomo saltado and he loved it! I got the ¼ chicken with salad and plantains and I loved too! Also they have the best Hortacha I have ever tried before. The food was amazing and the prices are not that bad over all. I’m sure I’m coming back to this place again.

This is the best peruvian style chicken in all of Northern Virginia. I’ve eaten at over 20 different places in the area and this one is above ALL of them, nobody in their tier. I tell people this all the time and since they didn’t read an article about it or because their sorority friends don’t go there(Pollo Rico, delicious but not as good as Coco Rico) they won’t even give it a try. So why is this tiny strange looking place under an overpass so good? The first thing is the way they marinate or season the chicken. Its the best there is. It has some kind of influence that the other area places don’t have(I don’t know specifically what country it is but its not south or central american). They took something delicious, added their own slight twist, and created the ultimate rotisserie chicken. If you don’t like spiced delicious skin then hit up somewhere else. I would eat the skin if they sold it. They also cook the chicken so amazingly 99% of the time that the meat literally peels off the bone and into your mouth. The chicken is quality, looks good, tastes great. The second thing is the consistency. I say this because every since I started eating at rotisserie chicken places I’ve noticed that one day its great and another day they give you an uncooked chicken that tastes like rubber(Boston Market is the best at this). Coco Rico is on point consistently. Out of the 40 times I’ve been there over several years I’ve had 2 bad experiences. The third thing is that they are the best kept secret in CHEESESTEAKS. Get one of these, throw on the spicy green sauce(did I mention this is another great point about this place. It may not be the best sauce out of all the places but it is still 5 stars) and you will be shocked. Its a non traditional cheesesteak and a nice varied change that almost makes you feel like you are eating some new specialty meal. The cost is a little high. Getting a half chicken is almost the same price as getting quarter white so I always go half with an inca cola bottle. Runs me $ 12. I don’t even work or live near Springfield anymore so anytime I go anywhere near the mixing bowl I make sure to stop there. That is the goto spot probably in a 5 – 10 mile radius(before you hit Vienna Inn in Vienna). If I moved to California and came back to visit DC or VA I would make it a requirement to stop at Coco Rico. I just hope that they don’t change anything because they are doing it all right.

I am in the Virginia area for business and this restaurant is close to my hotel. Overall, I thought the establishment had nice customer service at the register and pretty good food. I ordered the chicken burrito. All ingredients had a great taste & nothing was over seasoned. Given that I am from California, I always hold my breath with Latin food establishments any where besides California and Arizona. Therefore, I think this is a restaurant well worth a visit given the food’s representation of Peruvian cuisine.

The cashier here is the rudest person in the world. I can obviously tell why there is a sign on the door saying that they need cashiers. She is probably on her way out the door at this place. This is the second time she has treated me this way. The food here is great, but this cashier is terrible. I hope the owner decides to do something about it as the service is getting bad enough that soon it won’t matter how good the food is.

Good food in a small little place with barely enough parking for the 10 –15 or so tables.

This spot is located in a great place in Springfield. Parking is never an issue, even with the limited space. The chicken is delicious and I even tried the lomo saltado a couple of times as well. If your looking for good food this is definitely the place. My rating was based on the experience. When ever you call into the restaurant for some reason you feel like their phone is on fire and are quickly trying to get you off the phone. The people who work there are not welcoming either, which is ok you don’t expect that type of service from a small restaurant but for the high prices they charge the least you can do is smile. I ordered delivery on a different occasion and I felt like the lady was trying to convince me to just come in and pick it up by saying«we have a $ 15 minimum, the delivery guy is not here yet, and a delivery fee of $ 4 on top of the minimum». Wow a lunch special would easily be upwards of $ 20 Overall the food is great the prices are high customer experience is poor.

Not a bad little spot in Springfield right off of Franconia right by the new Springfield Towne Center. Its been here a while and I finally had an opportunity to stop in with my wife today for a lunch. We decided to split the half chicken(two sides) with rice and plantains(one can soda) for 10.38(after tax). The chicken came loaded with a black pepper heavy spice and a distinct charcoal flavoring to it. Unfortunately tge chicken was dry. Luckily the blanco sauce(mayo based), and the Verde sauce(spicy) were pretty good. The plaintains were charred but warm, sweet, and mushy. The rice had that distinct takeout style taste and stickyness. The room takeout room is a small, takeout style dining room with a TV(that was playing La leagua soccer). I can’t say I was impressed or blown away by the chicken. In the realm of Peruvian chicken it seemed very mediocre.

I was in the mood for more Peruvian food after trying some a few weeks earlier. I had never paid attention to this«hidden in plain sight» restaurant near the mall, but I’m happy I tried it out. When I arrived on a Sunday afternoon, it was bustling with folks. I ordered the Lomo Saltado to go and waited about fifteen minutes for it to arrive. The lady I ordered from informed me that the dish would take about that long when I ordered, which I’m glad she had the foresight to tell me. The Lomo Saltado was great, and I’d like to see how different restaurants prepare it. The onions and vegetables melded well with the beef and the fries. I would come back to try some other items.

My dad really wanted us to love this place… I don’t think we’ll ever be back. It’s Halal Peruvian Chicken with a lot of other things on the menu. In my opinion, the menu is all over the place! Coco Rico’s specialty is the chicken and the chicken itself is good. The spices used are nice and flavorful. The chicken was cooked thoroughly and was still juicy. To give an idea of the all-over-the-place menu: in addition to the traditional they offer American food(cheese steak) as well as Middle Eastern(Falafel and Hummos). So that’s three different types of food at one restaurant. I usually expect this from a diner, not a Peruvian Chicken place… Anyway… I was pretty miffed when I had to pay for water. Isn’t it common courtesy to provide water free of cost? There is a law for this, I am sure! My dad ended up buying four bottles for $ 1.25 each. Pretty lame because I might as well asked for a soft drink. We ordered the Family Combo: Two whole chickens, six sides, and 12 sauces. The chicken came quartered. Again, it was very juicy so it was very easy to cut and eat. The sides ordered were Fries(2), red beans, mashed potatoes, rice, and plantains. BP also ordered a side of tortillas. I was really disappointed with the rice. For starters, it was white rice with literally three peas in the entire side dish. I was expecting yellow rice and have it be spiced, but nope, just got plain-old, goopy white rice. It was flavorless. Next, the mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a pouch as a powdered mix. They were unbelievably salty. Inedible. The red beans definitely came out from a can… and they were watered down. I don’t think I have ever been a fan of plantains so of course I did not like them here. They were too sweet. BP, however, enjoyed them. The fries were good, but dull. We didn’t ask for them to be unsalted, but they were. I would have liked them to be spiced. The tortillas were very small. Four inches, maybe? They were made of corn meal and very authentic, but because I am fairly certain they were frozen and then re-heated, they were very soggy. I think Coco Rico needs to stop doing things the easy way because it is tasteless. They need to be more passionate so more customers can come and enjoy their chicken.

My co-workers and I came here for some lunch that was treated by the admin. I have a favorite Peruvian chicken place, but I thought that this place was pretty good, too. Cocorico is located off of Franconia Rd in Springfield. The place itlself was hustling and bustling with people during the lunch hour. Their menu was very simple and straightforward — ¼ Chicken(2 sides, 2 sauces), ½ Chicken(2 sides, 4 sauces) or a Whole Chicken(that came with 2 sides and 6 sauces) in terms of Peruvian Chicken. They also have combo meals with comes with a can of soda, as well as entrée specials(lomo saltado, pollo saltaldo, arroz chaufa), sandwiches(fish sandwich, steak & cheese, chicken burrito, quesadillas, etc.), burrito bowls, and kids meals. Sides selection include: salad, french fries, yuca, rice, beans, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, plantains, tortillas, and garlic; they have have ‘specialty sides’ which are hummus, baba ghannouj, and toubleh. I had the ¼ Chicken combo meal which came with 2 sides and 2 sauces and a can of soda. The chicken itself was very juicy, and I liked the seasoning on the skin(my favorite part, as always) — the yellow amarillo sauce was thick and creamy, and had a nice little tang to it. Service was friendly, and the fare was simple and satisfying. There’s also a little lot for your car. I’m glad I was able to try this place out! +juicy chicken +tangy amarillo sauce +little lot for vehicles
