UPDATE: Devour’s website says that Devour is ‘hibernating.’ Damn. I had one of their sandwiches once at Ninkasi, and I was convinced that it was the best thing I’d ever put in my mouth. But I was a couple of beers over my usual limit, so I wanted a second sober visit to confirm what would have been a five-star review. Hibernating? Silly bear, five-star reviews are for places that can feed me today!

Devour is a class act when it comes to fresh innovative sandwiches. I like to visit the Ninkasi Brewery Fridays after work. I enjoy the ambiance of the Patio and the Devour sandwich food card that is always there on Friday nights. I am constantly amazed at the creativity used to come up with different tastes each week. Sandwiches for meat eaters and vegans alike. I love the fact that the bread is special made and grilled so it gets a nice crunchiness. I have yet to find a sandwich I did not enjoy. They are also very pleasant to deal with and i know they appreciate by business by how I am treated.

Devour makes some of the most delicious sandwiches in eugene. Although I’ve never visited the café location, I’ve had several sandwiches from Devour catered events at U of O, and always leave incredibly full and happy(because the sandwiches, not the events). In fact: If I hear Devour is catering, it’s safe to say I probabaly end up forgetting what the event is for to begin with and go just for the food. Worth it.

We dropped by the Devour van on a whim just before heading back to Seattle. I was really pleasantly surprised! When I stop at a food truck, I tend to still think of the experience as being almost akin to fast-food. You grab something and go. Not here! You can do that if you want, however the Devour Crew are so nice and welcoming that you feel like you’re in a restaurant setting. Here are some good things to know: They change location, and have several vehicles and a café setting. Since I don’t live in Eugene and don’t know the geography I think it’s best to check out their web site: I just started following them on «the Twitter» too, in hopes that they’ll decide driving up to Seattle is the best idea they ever had and will deliver me their super-duper-amazing Vegetarian sammich… mmmm…sammmm-mmmmich. That’s what I had, with their soup of the day. Caramel Onions & Gruyère Cheese with Pesto and broiled Tomato. It was just the right size, I could really taste the pesto, tomato and onions. The cheese was my fave. The soup is brilliant! Carrot and Ginger. Even though you will walk away incredibly stuffed, I recommend getting 2 sandwiches if you have to drive a really long distance. About an hour after leaving I wanted to turn around and get another one. All in all my absolutely favorite place to eat when I’m in Eugene. Friendly, really affordable, yum-yum food that has well thought ingredients to create a Jenga Tower of taste.

Finally got to try this cart and found it to be disappointing. The hot pressed beef sandwich looked appealing and was presented nicely with some pickled vegies and a light salad. Unfortunately the cheese in the sandwich overwhelmed the rest of the flavor. The cheese was thick and overly processed in flavor, similar to cheese in a can. I do not think this was the ingredient that was used but is the best description I can give for the flavor and texture of the cheese. Each bite was a single note of cheese followed by the greasy taste from the bread(which was closer to consistency of a biscuit). There were one or two bites where some other flavors were evident from the beef and from what appeared to be a slaw of some kind. These bites showed that there was some potential for an amazing experience but they were too few and too fleeting as the next bite returned to the single note of thick paste like cheese in a can.

I love it when my lunch comes to me… Ever since this little van started coming to my office building one day a week, Wednesdays have been so much better. The flavors are intense, interesting, bold, amazing. Service is super friendly. He’s been carrying some sweet options lately, too. Soups in the winter, salads in the summer(and a wicked intense melon gazpacho too). Love love love it.

Ran into the cart at a brewery. I was very excited at it was on my to eat at list. But I came away kind of disappointed. Everything on the cart that day was someone else’s product. It was prepared just fine, but I could have stopped by Long’s Meat Market and bought the same meat and made my own sandwich.

Amazing! One sandwich and I’m hooked. You look up the location of the roving van on the website and it’s like a really easy treasure hunt. I love the simple limited menu. Choose your favorite — or just close your eyes and point — you won’t be disappointed. My favorite so far is the Meatloaf with Sweet Chili sauce. It’s gourmet, toasted comfort food. Extreme value for $ 5.

Devour is not your average quick food from a truck. Devour owner John-Pat is a skilled chef, which shows in his delicious creations. He blends flavors to create truly unique gourmet sandwiches, which he then grills and serves up hot and toasty. I don’t even know where to start with describing his soup. Any flavor I have ever tried(and I have tried several of them now) is the very best soup I have ever tasted(and I’ve had a lot of soup in my days). I find the portions to be very filling and very worth the price. You just have to know where to find him, which is easy enough if you check the Devour website.

I have only had the soups so far and oh man! sooo delicious! They are bursting with rich, complex flavors. I really appreciate that JP offers so many vegan soups. Awesome friendly service in the cutest little bus around.

There isn’t really anyone doing what Devour is doing in Eugene right now. So, not only is Devour cutting edge street food, but it is damn delicious! John-Pat, the creator of Devour has lots of food service experience which shows in his diverse and tasty grill pressed sandwich and soup creations. Devour keeps the price just right as well. I can get a soup and sandwich and be completely full and satisfied on all taste and textural levels for $ 7. Thats $ 5 for a sandwich, $ 2 for a soup. I appreciate that he makes a vegetarian sandwich a part of his repertoire and keeps the flavors rotating weekly. The soups are almost always vegetarian if not vegan. I like that he uses a small menu to offer complex flavors including quality ingredients to a broad audience. All I can say is keep up the great work!
