Great place. I can eat my breakfast and follow it with a good bourbon. Service is excellent. The barkeeper remembered my preferences for bourbon, Woodford Reserve, neat, and a water with no ice to the side. What more could one ask?

Very unusual menu. Food was very good, as was the service. Young bar(or loud wanna be young patrons) atmosphere. We went for breakfast early, about 7am on a Saturday. Place was packed and the bar was crowded and full, with only 1 pub style table available. People at the large table next to us were all screaming at one another throughout or meal, because of the horrendous noise level. Sounded as though most patrons had too much to drink. Weird. Won’t be back.

Service was great. Food was hot and delicious. There were so many options. My only complaint is the portions being too big. There should maybe be a half portion option. Other than that, great. Oh, 2.99 for an average cup of a coffee had me bummed but not enough to mark down the stars :)

So, so, so good. If we lived here, this would be my favorite breakfast spot. Outdoor seating: just right! Servers were attentive and never forgot about us. Service: see previous note. Always had water, asked for ketchup and salsa and got it right away, etc. Never felt bothered. Gave recommendations based on her favorite and what is most popular. Man Had: Falcon + OJ; the sirarcha was a perfect touch. The gravy was meaty and thick so that it perfectly coated the pastry, egg, hashbrowns(served perfectly crispy), etc. He also added bacon because he’s a bacon man and he said even though it loved it, it likely would have been great even without the bacon and just the ham. The fruit served with it was perfectly ripe. Me: Breakfast Tacos w/pulled pork and sweet potato nuggets. The pork was juicy, the salsa was spicy, the hash was crunchy in the taco, and the nuggets were fantastic. The tacos were extra filled so stuffing fell out and I are it up with the nuggets(so good). To me, it needed extra salsa but that was it. I didn’t eat much of the beans as it was a lot of food, but they were good too.

One star because I wasn’t allowed to eat there. Wasn’t allowed to eat there because hostess wouldn’t seat us for 15 minutes at a table that was empty because she didn’t want the server to get overwhelmed. That’s exactly what she said when we asked what was wrong with that empty table. So by the hostess’ own admission they either hire inferior servers or don’t hire enough. Not a very good way to do business in my opinion. This was our second try. Doubtful I’ll ever go back.

This place is absolutely perfect for my hung over binge lunch. Sweet potato nugs are addictive as they are wonderful. If you haven’t given this place a chance you should as soon as you can.

Like many, I had consulted Unilocal reviews before heading into the Early Bird for a late breakfast with an old friend. I had my concerns… reports of long wait times and mediocre fair can be found peppered throughout the ratings. Let’s face reality folks, every restaurant has its busy periods and you’re not going to please everybody all the time. The menu was a short but descriptive 5 pages handed out on a clipboard with enough variety to suit almost any appetite. I settled on the eggs Atlantis and coffee after a picture I had seen online. My friend and I got a good 15 minutes of visiting done before our food arrived. I can say I have never had this dish before but I have fallen in love with it. It was a wonderful blend of different things… Salmon, eggs, sauce, English muffin, and of course the sweet potato tots. Presentation was great as you can see from the picture, the food was hot and well prepared, the sweet potato tots offer a nice yin and yang of sweet and salty… the coffee was strong an excellent. Our waiter was very attentive, never let my coffee cup go dry and even offered me a to go cup on the way out. I’m sure the place is busy on the weekends, and I think it’s well deserved. I am a fan and will be back soon. Give it a try on a weekday when you have time and you won’t be disappointed.

Came in on a Saturday morning at 10am. Do not come here on the weekends if you want a «quick» meal. We waited for about 15 minutes and the service was slow only because the poor server, Jordan had 8 tables.(being a server before I understand that it’s not always the servers fault for being behind) She apologized for the slow service but we weren’t in a hurry and she was very sweet! The food was worth the wait. I ordered the Robin. A flaky pastry with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, steamed brocoli, ham, and sweet potato tots, plus fruit. It was enough to share between two people. YUM! If you’re wanting a unique breakfast environment, delicious coffee, and breakfast cocktails this is the place!

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. There was a long line, but people grew weary and impatient and left, so our estimated 45 min wait was really 10 min. I ordered the apple bourbon glazed ham breakfast with poached eggs. I also ordered a side of sausage patties, and loved the peppery spices that popped out with the amazing flavor. Everything was sooo delicious and tasted fresh. Sweet potato tater tots were awesome! We will definitely return here for breakfast. The portions are huge and it was a good amount of food to keep me full all day until dinner.

Okay, so we FINALLY showed up to this place at a time where the wait wasn’t an hour plus.(we have tried 4 times over the last 6 months) We were seated within 20 minutes. Although it took awhile for our waitress to make it to our table initially, she was friendly and they were obviously busy. My bf ordered a mimosa($ 7.50) and though its not listed on their drink menu, I ordered a spicy bloody mary($ 5). It took about 10 minutes to get our drinks and we ordered — I got the meatatarrian omlet and he got the steak and eggs. NOW this is where it all goes… Our food literally took over 30 minutes to arrive. In that 30 minute time frame I paced my way through my bloody mary. I am not a «light weight» by any given standard however, i would have been classified as «Tipsy» by the time our food arrived. PROS: The food was AMAZING(although I giggled and laughed and scarfed my way through the entire plate) My drink was STRONG. Like, strong. And the flavors were on point. Our waitress was nice and the place had a good vibe to it Loved the music though it was a little loud They serve SWEETPOTATOTOTS. That gives them bonus points on the spot. CONS: Wait time for your food took way too long Over-priced mimosas that came out room temp Weird seating arrangement in certain areas of the restaurant The place is SO dark — charcoal grey ceilings, grey paint on the walls and we weren’t seated by any windows so it made our Sunday morning brunch seem very… foggy. We will probably return if the wait time is short again or its a week day morning. The weekends just seemed a little too crazy for it to be exceptionally great.

It was hard to make a decision, because everything on the menu sounds delicious. I went with the Breakfast Club and would order it again(minus the bacon jam, which just tasted like pie spices). The best decision was ordering my hash browns early bird style-so yummy! Oh, and the monkey bread appetizer was really good, if you need a little sweet with your savory. Next time I find myself in Springfield, I’ll be in for breakfast!

This place has a great concept. Hip sports bar meets breakfast joint heaven. It doesn’t make you feel guilty about drinking at 11am. All with an added bonus of supporting a local business. Sweet potato tots were phenomenal. Eggs Atlantis were also great. Next time we plan to branch out from their plain mimosa. Oh yea, it’s a little pricey… so prepare your wallet.

S l o w, Turtle s l o w. Really, really s l ow. Won’t go back cause it was so slow. Neat concept but need to pick up pace. Bloody Mary’s were good and breakfast food looked good but burger needed to be better. Fried not grilled. I want to like this place but they need to clean up a bit and hire some help. I try again when I have endless time on my hands.

Not bad, Springfield. I say you can tell the quality of life in a town based on the number of breakfast restaurants it possesses. Springfield is bursting at the seams with omelets and toast. This place has a competitive edge with it’s coffee. Brick and Mortar is no joke. Also, for those of us who like to start the day with the hair of the dog, they have plenty of breakfahol.

I REALLY wanted to love early birds. The décor is good, the idea is perfect(morning cocktails are my FAVE), but in the end it’s just«meh.» I’d bookmarked this place on Unilocal well before they opened, but I’d also heard that new restaurants tend to stay super busy for a bit(Do springfieldians ever cook at home? It’d seem not.), so I waited until I had a random weekday off and we came in for a late breakfast on a Monday morning. There were only about 5 tables seated so we picked a spot near the window and browsed the menu. I was excited that they brew and pour brick and mortar coffee because that’s always the biggest bummer about breakfast places — the food is great but then you get sad, weak coffee. Unfortunately they aren’t doing the coffee any favors. While better than the average diner, I’d still say your better off going with a cocktail and stopping somewhere after for a real cup of coffee. Service was friendly and super prompt(benefited it being a slow morning, I’m sure) and our food came out quickly, but it was just so underwhelming. I got an omelette and the dude got a Benedict of some sort and both were just OK. Not bad, but not very good either. I did hash browns as my side and he got the sweet potato nugs which were weird. I love sweet potatoes in all forms, particularly when they are pretending to be a tater tot, but these had a strange density and wetness to them. The inside reminded me of eating baby carrots, not delicious sweet potatoes. Maybe they’re still working things out? Maybe they need a new cook? I don’t really know but unfortunately I can’t see coming back in for more than morning drinks at the bar when I feel like I can whip up a better breakfast at home in less than 30 minutes.

I really enjoyed my breakfast at the Early Bird. I had the bluebird, which was lovely. I’m not really a morning person, and I have a hard time throwing down a big, hearty breakfast, so the bluebird was perfect for me — two light puff pastry shells with cream cheese, blueberries, and a wonderful granola. Add a hardboiled egg and a side of fresh fruit, and it was as close to morning heaven as a night owl like me is ever going to get. If you don’t want to eat like me, there are FIVE pages in the menu, so you will certainly find something to fluff your feathers. If you’d rather get your beak buzzed, there are lots of fancy breakfast drinks to choose from as well. The ambiance on the inside is nice. You can nest at a table, a booth, or the large curvy bar. Plenty of room for everyone on a weekday morning, but they’re packing the house on the weekends, so get there early(or late) if you’re not in the mood to roost for a while. The service was spectacular and friendly. We were well taken care of, but not in an obnoxious way. Can’t wait to bring my breakfast-loving husband back!

All these reviews complain about the time it takes to receive your food… If I had to guess, I would say that people flood in here on weekend days, and then wonder why the kitchen is slammed. Plus, it’s a new restaurant… Springfield opens the floodgates for new restaurants. I had zero problems. Went in, ordered, ate, and was out in 45 minutes. No problemo. They have a gigantic menu – five pages worth of breakfast goodness. Anything you could possibly imagine. I mostly skimmed over the menu after I saw the eggs benedict section. I chose the eggs Florentine, with English muffins, tomatoes, fresh spinach, poached eggs, and hollandaise. I was excited to see a handful of fresh spinach on my plate-it’s a nice touch. Eggs were poached well, and the hollandaise was fairly mild but tasty. I also had a side of sweet potato tots… which brings me to one of my few complaints about Early Bird. I cannot in good conscience use the word ‘nugg’ in reference to sweet potatoes(at least not in public). I waited for our server to offer me hashbrowns or ‘nuggs’ so she had to say it first. Anyway, they were delicious, and I am super picky about my sweet potatoes. I did not order a drink since I was headed to work, and it took lots of self control. They had a lot of light cocktails that would be perfect with a brunch meal. Reminded me of a fancy country club’s menu. There was a full bar and a beer menu as well… that I didn’t examine as carefully as I normally do since I was on a tight schedule. Next time I plan on having a drink… or three. The restaurant was clean and decorated tastefully(and you get water in a stemmed glass-makes you feel all fancy). It was a little chilly in there, but I WAS the 2nd person through the door after they opened. Probably takes the heat a little while to kick in. All in all, I would say that Early Bird is working out the kinks from earlier reviews. I had a good time, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. I only wish I had had more time to sit and enjoy.

Ordered the Eggs Florentine and coffee. I was pleasantly surprised by which the speed of the dish appeared in front of me. The poached eggs were perfectly done. The spinach was very plentiful on the dish and thick cut tomato slices. No skimping here. The hollandaise sauce was silky smooth and added a great layer of flavor to the dish without overwhelming it. Then it was topped with a generous layer of paprika and green onion. On the side was a generous portion of hash browns. Crisped perfectly without a greasy taste that hash browns can sometimes have. The service was great my coffee never got beyond half full. The menu is massive can’t wait to come back!
