You should never go here. I’m 99% sure a saw a cochroach crawling across the floor, and 100% sure my friend had one in her food…

The food is so good here. Flavorful vegetarian options! That being said, the staff has not been the friendliest a couple of times and sometimes seem more in a hurry then worried about giving quality service.

My wife and I went here for dinner because we felt like having good Mexican. The food was poor at best and we got bottles of beer because they had a big sign saying $ 1.95 all bottles. They charged us $ 3.75 per bottle when, we asked about it they said it was only for domestic. FALSEADVERTISINGORWHAT! They would not correct this error on their part. We don’t live in the area and if this is the best springfield has to offer for Mexican, I would go to Taco Bell it still would suck but at least they wouldn’t over charge me.

Love the Saturday special– chicken fajitas! Always a full sizzling skillet and all of the accompanying ingredients to make a great meal! The salsa and guacamole is the best in Springfield! The downside is getting your check in a timely manner…

My family seems to like this place, but I find it only OK. They tend to mix old guacamole with new. I know my guac… I NEVER eat day old guac… flavor totally changes and it gets that brown color on top(no matter how much lime you put in it) Also, I love refried beans and theirs are always runny. I do like the salsa…

For the love of the higher power up in the sky, please do not eat here! It’s awful and disgusting! Please go to Los Marachi’s, it’s way better and cleaner. Every time I go there, my bean burrito is FROZEN! Just trust me, if you’re going on the location on Bechtle, go across the street to Chipolte because it’s better.

Just a run of the mill Mexican joint from what I can see. The food is average and drinks are average as well. But I like the look of the place and the variety!

Still a fan, though symbolically wearing black in mourning for the dearly departed shrimp cocktails… Que pasooo?!? STILL super fast service, though it appears they’ve gotten rid of the few more MEXICAN standards, aiding in the safe, yet booooring Tex-Mexicification that eventually happens to all/most ethnic restaurants struggling to blend authenticity with what MOST people see as shockingly adventurous(anything past a sizzling fajita…) Not a bad lunch at all for a lazy Sunday– We had burritos, taquitos, EXCELLENT guacamole, and a VERY good salsa w/the complimentary chips. As a fair warning/added bonus(to Mr. M&P), since I love yacking to the waiters in Spanish, they ALWAAAAAAAAAYS bring the check right to me!!!

Fairly good Mexican food. The service could be better. Very large portions and we had a nice waitress.

My husband loves Mexican, and this place is one of the few we can agree on. The food is consistently good, and those lunch margaritas are amazing! The only problem I have with the place is that every so often you get a waiter that is in such a hurry that you get the feeling that he would like to eat your food for you and then show you the door. So if you get a good waiter or don’t mind the rushing around of some of the waiters, it is worth a stop!

I go to El Toro all the time. The food is always consistently good, I always get the monster burrito. Its filled with rice, beans, guacamole, cilantro, jalapenos and your choice of steak, chicken, or pork. then it is all smothered in cheese. I always go with the steak but the chicken and pork are also really good. The service is also super fast. My girlfriend timed it last time we went. She ordered chicken fajitas and I ordered the burrito. It took seven minutes from order to food on table. the service is amazing, friendly staff and amazing food.

We stop here on a regular basis. Excellent food and nice décor. We frequently find coupons on the back of Kroger receipts.

My family loves El Toro, its a restaurant we can all agree on. My dad is the Duke of one of them in Springfield in fact… with a ridiculous number of check ins. I think the primary reason my parents prefer this restaurant is that it is reasonably tasty, generally acceptable to all eaters, can accommodate our large family and extremely quick. You rarely wait more than 10 minutes before your food is brought out. There is little authenticity as far as the food or décor goes. It is americanized mexican food and is relatively greasy and heavy. It really is well flavored though and the salsa is a little addictive. As you can see from the available picture, this location recently built a patio on the front. Its kind of funny as it looks out on a parking lot, strip mall and walmart… not the most attractive patio vista. I’ve sat there before because the interior of this restaurant is dark(which I dislike) and in the summer they absolutely blast the air conditioning. The frigid summer temperatures may be a plus for many(like my dad) but I consider it a negative. I’ve noted that some reviews have commented on the un-polite staff. They are not warm and fuzzy… but they are also clearly actual mexicans/south americans and I’ve come to expect that non-american servers are a little more clipped. Having lived in europe and not a big fan of over enthusiasm in service I’m fine with this. Theres an olive garden across the street if you really insist on being bothered every five seconds with zealous confirmations of total and utter friendliness. Anyway, all in all there is quick service and hot good food. If you don’t know where to take visitors or a group or a family, its an easy choice unlikely to offend.

Not any different than any other El Toro I have been too, which is saying, it’s mediocre. First we were practically yelled at by the hostess to wait while she found a table for us. Then we she found a table we were yelled at us again to follow her to it. The server was not very friendly. He was timely, no doubt of that, but with no pleasantries. The food was just sub par, my rice was crunchy and not cooked all the way. My enchilada was delicious though. The ambiance was spot on though, the seating comfortable, and the noise at a low level.
