I’m constantly on the quest for the perfect sub. A sub so good that you go, «Awww gawd» after each and every bite. Well let me tell you firehouse has that sub. It’s the Italian. I’ve ignored Firehouse for the longest time because I’ve heard their subs were over priced. Well, in all honesty they are a little high but I’m talking about $ 9 for a full sub vs $ 8 somewhere else. $ 1 isn’t going to break the bank. Especially for a «Aww gawd» sub. For some crazy reason one time I tried their hook and ladder sub and its not even close to the Italian. I left pretty disappointed and vowed to never make that mistake again. Now typically I’d say I base a sub on the bread. Which normally is true. But in this case the sub is all about the sauce(s). You can taste the tanginess of the mustard and some kind of sweet sauce. The only drawback to Firehouse is getting out of that parking lot. Since I work about 2 miles north of this place you can’t exit the parking lot and go north. No. You have to round the south end of the parking lot(by Scramblers) and then try to cross that death trap on M hwy on hopes you can get in the left hand turn lane to turn back north. It’s a serious cluster. If that area isn’t a major contributor to road rage I don’t know what would be. If the sandwich wasn’t so good I would avoid this area altogether. I see some people complaining about the service of the staff there. Get over it. Who cares? I don’t care if they don’t speak a word to me as long as 1. They bring me a killer Italian sub 2. They don’t violate my sandwich in some manner. So in summation just get a Italian and skip all the other menu items. P. s. I took a bite out of the sub before I took the pic. Sorry. I guess I just got excited.

I was looking forward to having a wonderful salad. Paid $ 7.50 plus tax for it. Did not realize it had bell peppers in it. I hate those. I did not take a single bite. It is a chopped salad so they were all through it. I attempted to pick them out but couldn’t do it. The employee came over and asked how was everything. I told her what was wrong and she said oh and walked off. I liked the food but that lack of consideration tells me I am better off elsewhere. That was an expensive meal for the trash.

I give very few 1 star reviews. Subs were decent but service and value were NOT. Treated like we were stupid because we were new and had to ask so many questions. Very clever and confusing up-selling cost us $ 32 for 2 adult combo meals and 2 kids meals. Didn’t want to make a scene because we were with family. Last time we will visit this place.

Number one firehouse subs in the country!!! Had a chance to meet owner Jason and could easily tell he is a great leader with how well maintained the store is and how eager the crew on duty is to help. As if an awesome crew and clean store wasn’t enough, let me tell how delicious the subs were. Hot, fresh, sweet, spicy and catered to our individual tastes(the menu provides a perfect selection of default subs, but you’re also able to add or adjust any toppings!) My gosh, no other sub shop can top the smokehouse beef and cheddar brisket! Before I left, I got to meet manager on duty Marissa who helped make our awesome experience come to life– hope to be back here soon! Thanks for an awesome meal.

My daughter and I were looking for a lunch spot. She suggested the Golden Arches, but I wanted a diet friendly salad. We spotted the Firehouse and decided to try something new. They had dairy free bread(a requirement for the dd, and often a deal killer for restaurant choices). She ordered the Italian sub without cheese and I got the Firehouse salad with grilled chicken. Sub was fantastic, delish!(I tried it — she was right!) The salad, however, was tasteless, slimy and the chicken was over-processed. Would have been better for me to go with the original plan, especially for the $ 17 we shelled out. Moral is — don’t go here for the salad. Eat a sub.

Good. They’re different, but good for sure. Kinda pricey for just subs though.

Great food! For those from California who miss pastrami they can make one that is very similar although not exactly the same! Prices when compared to subway are great for what you get and even better if you share a full sub. It has a great theme, and the staff was excellent! Have returned several times.

What can I say other than right now this is my favorite sub shop in town. Service is always fast and friendly. I love the bbq brisket sub and yes with the mayo. Don’t ask me why it tastes so good it just does. Probably my one gripe about the place is it gets so busy sometimes you have to wipe down your own table to get one not strewn with the last diner’s crumbs. I also like that they have the calorie’s on each main menu item. Keeps me from ordering the large everytime I visit.

I really like the subs here. There are many sub shops around town but I would choose Firehouse over them. I like the friendly atmosphere and the speed at which my food arrives. Plus everything tastes great!

I left this place extremely UPSET! I MEANPISSEDOFF! I was upset they had no tip jar out for their staff! I was upset their food was so damn delicious. I was upset I was only visiting from out of town, and I had to come home knowingly that there are no Firehouse Subs in Portland, OR. I was so upset that they were super duper friendly. I visited last week on September 17th. Let’s address the first issue; no tip jar for their staff. They work hard, they handle peoples food. They handled my food. I wanted to tip, and they had no jar, and said they were not allowed to have one out. I do not care if they make more than minimum wage on the hourly. If you put one out for them then at least they get an opportunity for people to tip them for their excellent service. Food service is hard, as easy as it sounds, but they have to put up with a lot of bull. I almost want to give you ONESTAR rating for that fact, but I won’t because there were no issues and it deserves to be recognized for its excellence. I have family in Springfield, and when I asked where the best place to get lunch at was, they both recommended Firehouse Subs. They were, RIGHT! I was sad leaving Springfield, because I was leaving my family, and Firehouse Subs behind. I live in a place where food carts is the next big venture for food, and there are sandwich shops around that are awesome, but I think we are missing out on not having a Firehouse Subs here in Portland. Call me, I will set you up out here, wink. The staff that were out front were amazing. A young man and woman. I should have wrote their names down. The young woman was on her 8th day straight of working, and you could tell she was a little burnt, but she was still so chipper, and full of glow. I don’t know how you do that voodoo that you do, but I am impressed. The young man, was super friendly as well, and was very helpful. He was more than willing to talk about the 20 different varieties of sauces that were available for everyone to try on their subs. He also broke down instructions for the soda machine and how to use it, because this thing is from the future, no doubt. With everything being said, I will change my rating to one star if they do not let their employees have a tip jar out. You have one week. Yes I am holding a rating ransom for your staff. Please show your staff some love, because they truly deserve it. For everyone else reading this review, please go to this place, eat their food. The Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket will blow your brains out the park. I ordered the Hook and Ladder, and shared halvsies with my brother. My lame cousin ordered the corned beef brisket, it was ok from what I heard. I am just so over pleased with those two that I don’t want to venture on to anything else. It’s probably a good thing I did come home, because I would probably get extremely obese from eating here eryday. Eryday damn day!

I had the NY steamer, it was nice. We order 12 inches and shared so it’s a very good value. My friend had the meatball and it looks pretty fancy and the meatballs are different from other sub place. They have tons of sauces for you to choose from if you decided to spice things up! It’s a good place for subs but not the best place in town.

The food is great here and the employees are friendly. I’ve tried the meatball sub, beef and cheddar brisket, and the last time I went in I tried the lower calorie turkey and cranberry and it was delicious! It is a fun place for kids too, they get a fire chief hat with their meal. Love the unique décor with decorations that you would find in a firehouse.

All their food is fresh and seems fresher than most other chain sandwich places. They have multiple hot sauces you can choose from on a scale from 1 – 10 hotness which is a nice touch! They have one of those soft drink machines where you can choose about anything you want. Overall, they always satisfy and even do great with catering orders.

Firehouse Subs opened near me in the last few months. I’ve been there at least 5 times in the last three months and I’ve been pleased every time. I usually have gotten the«Turkey Bacon Ranch» sub(no tomatoes… eww), and my husband raves about«The Engineer». My order each time has been correct and delicious. I love pickles on my sub sandwiches, which they don’t have(only pickle spears on the side… WHENREQUESTED). The employees are super polite and prompt, even though you have to wait for your sandwich longer than most sandwich shops, and there is no clear«to go» wait area. You have to find a dine in chair to wait in, then wait for your name to be called. The store appears very clean with lots of dine-in space. They clearly wear gloves while preparing your sandwich. They have one of those self-serve specialty touch screen beverage machines which I like. Lots of different hot sauces to pour self samples which they have labeled spicy designations, 1 – 10. The«Firehouse» sauce is available for purchase and sampling, and is pretty damn good!

Great. Humongous portions. I’d suggest you just order one giant sandwich for every two people.

Yay, another sandwich place in town. No, really, I mean that. I love sandwiches. They’re so tasty generally speaking, and they’re especially tasty from here. Not many places have corned beef and pastrami sandwiches that I can order, so I’ll definitely be remembering that for future reference. Also, even though I normally find pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches to be gimmicky(if I/a close relative of mine can make it for me at home, and I’m sure it’ll be better, I don’t see the point in ordering), I gave it a shot. I probably wouldn’t order it again, but it was good nonetheless(if that makes sense). All in all, I will be adding this into my «mmmm. I want sandwich now» rotation.

Mmmm… so happy there is a Firehouse subs in town. So happy. It’s not the cheapest place to eat, but everything I’ve ever had has been delicious. The building is laid out backwards, in my opinion. You walk to the back to place your order, and if there is a line, you get to bump into everyone getting their drinks at that sweet ass freestyle Coke machine. Give the Firehouse cherry limeade a try – it’s nothing like the cherry limeade at Sonic – this one is not super sweet or carbonated. They bring your order out to your table, so keep your eyes open(or listen if they are yelling out the order). I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which is served on a King’s Hawaiian sweet roll with coleslaw – absolutely delicious. I don’t know that I will ever order anything else. The next best part of Firehouse is the hot sauce bar. There are little plastic cups on a tray next to all the bottles, so you can fill a couple up to take with you. You can also take them back to your table. I love any green hot sauce, and they have a lot to pick from. The employees are nice, walking around and clearing your table and asking if you need anything. It’s decorated with a cool fireman theme, which is appropriate… the place gets a little smoky from the grill every now and then. Give them a shot if you are tired of the same old sandwich places!
