This place is only OK. It’s your typical commercialized establishment that serves the pimply-faced, pre-teen and adolescent community fresh(or stale) overpriced used video game titles. It’s an acceptable alternative to best buy, but only for the fact that they sell games that are ”hard to find” such as PS2 titles.(EDIT: No longer do they sell older titles.) They stopped carrying Gamecube and PS1 titles(shame on them.) to cater towards the ever expanding next-gen console fanboys. I still like to play me some Resident Evil on ps1 and that change did them in for me. Another thing that irks me about this company in general is the fact that any employee can ”rent” out a game, even in brand new condition for 1 week. Afterward, they sell that same game as a ”new” copy. Bullshit, I say. A «new» game has the factory shrink-wrap and it’s not smudged by a strangers’ hands. How do I know this? Well, I’ve worked there. They have this way of making you believe they know more about games than you do. It’s self-righteous, really. Sometimes the managers are asked about an upcoming title and they reply by including, ”oh, yea, i’ve played that already” before the game even drops. Seriously? i don’t give a shit if you’ve played it. All I want to know is when it hits shelves. Don’t ask their opinions about games, because they’re likely biased in the first place. Enough ranting. In closing, I had to repost this because my review was flagged by. I did my Unilocal-y duty to give reviewers a better option and sure enough, it fell under their«promotional» guidelines rules or whatever they claim. I’m sure if you search you’ll find something with an E and a STAR in it somewhere close by.

Well let start off by saying that Serena S. Sounds like s disgruntled employee or ex one. Because I’ve been taking my kids there for years now 3 to be exact. There has been nothing but fantastic service from the people who work there. The young man with glasses and dreadlocks is very polite every time I’ve had him help me. The manager great with helping my kids pick out«kid friendly» games. She was even good with my sport game trade ins. My family and I have recently moved to Alexandria Va from lorton and we go out of our way to get our entertainment needs from this Gamestop and it’s great staff.

As someone who only goes to video game stores when I’m picking up something specific for my son, I can’t really comment on Gamestop’s range of selection. What I can report is that it takes me roughly 3 minutes to get in, get what I want, and get the heck out of the store. Try doing THAT at the Best Buy a few storefronts down. I’ve found each and every employee there to be courteous and helpful; no talking down to the mom who’s obviously clueless about gaming.
