We rolled in on a Thursday evening and were not greeted well at the check-in counter. The person we were in line for said, «Please bear with me, folks», and then proceeded to tip-tap away at the keyboard. After a minute or so of this(was he playing Solitaire?), we moved to the other check-in person and were checked in. At no time did the second person say anything like, «Come over here, folks, I can check you in.» We picked a room and headed down the hall. It wasn’t quite ready yet, but the amiable and friendly housekeeper finished up quickly. That was the last attention our room got. We left on Sunday, and the room was never tidied up or resupplied. Very unusual in our experience. The USB charging ports by the bed did not work. The sofa was mungy and saggy. There were places where the carpet did not reach the wall and miscellaneous debris had collected. The curtain was very opaque, however it did not fit tightly in the window alcove, so if you want real darkness, bring some masking tape with you to cover the gaps. The TV remote did not work, but we were able to get a functioning replacement relatively quickly. Why not one star? Everything in the bathroom worked well and the mattress was OK. We’ve had totally satisfactory stays in other Hampton Inns, but this one seem to be dysfunctional. Lodge here at you own risk!

I stay at Hamptons throughout the US. This isn’t the worst, but it is far from par. I had dirty pillows in my room upon arrival. Hotel has a very musky smell. Easy access from the freeway.

I stayed here for 4 nights on business. I have stayed in other Hampton Inns and would rank this at the low end of the chain’s locations. They do offer quite a spread of complimentary breakfast and free in-room wifi, plus our room came with a microwave and fridge, but I am concerned about cleanliness. Based on what I saw, the hallway on our floor was not vacuumed once while we were there over 4 nights. In addition, the edges of the carpet on our floor and the main floor had very noticeable grey dust collecting along all of the edges. Our room had an odor of that stuff used to soak up vomit, the carpet felt sticky/tacky and was coming up in a few areas, there were 3 areas missing light bulbs, our TV remote was missing the battery clip so they scotch taped the batteries in, the sheets did not fit our king bed and kept coming off, the shower bottom was stained dark grey/blackish, and the air conditioner rattled like a semi-truck(had to set something on it to stop the sound.) Clean it up Springfield Hampton Inn! Your brand is so much better than this — you could be the it hotel for this area.

I have to second some of the other comments made here, this hotel is very run down and in surprising need of maintenance. The carpet was damp and sticky. The shower curtain wouldn’t stay closed(wrap your head around that one). My baby boy’s crib sheet had stains on it. Not to mention a laundry list of other minor maintenance issues that had clearly been ignored for years. The staff and the breakfast was fantastic, but I just can’t give this 3 stars, the price was Hampton but the hotel was Travelodge.

I’ve stayed at my fair share of Hampton Inns all over the country, and this is by far the worst one ever. They are usually so clean and run by the friendliest of staff. The halls smell of mildew and everything is dingy and run down. Our room was never cleaned even though we asked for new sheets because they were too small for the bed and kept popping off. At 9:45 at night had to ask for the 3rd time today. Sheets weren’t brought until 10:25pm and they were stained. When I went back to the front desk for the 4th time I got attitude from Tim at the front desk who told me I could leave if I wasn’t happy. We will never be back to this hotel and I suggest you think twice before booking. Plenty of other choices in the area.

I loved staying here. I was in town for a work conference and just stayed one night. The people were very friendly, the wifi was nice and fast and free, and the breakfast had a lot of options. I also used the workout room, which has two treadmills, and elliptical, free weights, medicine balls, and some mats. The bed was super comfortable and the temperature in the room was easily adjustable. I would avoid being near the elevator, because I could hear it at times from down the hall. Overall, nice place to stay in Springfield.

I had very low expectations for a roadside motel. This place was great. Customer Service is over the top. The rooms are spacious and clean. The complementary hot breakfast is a nice touch and good.

My family and I loved this Hampton. The staff was very kind and helpful. The room was very clean and newly furnished. Great breakfast also. Highly recommend.

I love Hampton Inn and I am a hhonors member. This hotel offered the Hampton standard, except the room was nasty. Not in the way that it could be cleaned better by the maid staff. The linens are old, the room has a smokey smell and everything had that run down look. Otherwise, everything was great! The breakfast and customer service was top-notch! It is really the company that needs to revitalize this property!

Even though the area is a bit odd(with sweeping views of the power plant), I still think this is a solid hotel. The place was nicely decorated, the rooms were clean, and the people working there were friendly. We arrived at 10PM on Thursday, and left at 10AM on Friday, so we did not experience all that this hotel had to offer. The pool seemed nice, and it was open until 11. My cousin used the workout room, and said it was nice. Breakfast was also very good, and they even offered to-go bags. If I am ever in the area, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Yes this is an older Hampton inn but it is well kept and the staff makes a serious effort to accommodate your needs, answer your questions and welcome you to the area. The pool area is big enough so that you can do small laps and jump in the whirlpool afterwards. The fitness center is decent: a bench with free weights and the usual treadmill and elliptical. The rooms are typical Hampton inn rooms. A serious effort is also made here on the quantity and quality of breakfast items offered: warm options(more than one), cereals, breads, yogurt, fruits including blueberries for example. A serious nice plus. If you are a runner you can take a morning jog at either the nearby bridge trail or by lake Springfield. Overall, a good place to stay at.
