Steak ‘n Shake

Steak N Shake’s are normally slow and I’ve come to expect it. But when we came to this one I was extremely disappointed. The place wasn’t even half full and at least 5 tables were filthy and still needed busing. The waitress pretty much threw out menus on the table and the only thing that came out of her mouth was «here» very rudely.
We waited over 10 minutes and we still didn’t even have anyone come take our drink order. So we got up and left. As we walked out I kept looking to see if any of the staff would say something, nope. They were still too busy talking to each other or wrapping utensils. If I could give it negative stars I would.
Also, watch out for the craters in the parking lot, some a car could fit in.

This restaurant is vile. I just stopped to grab a burger and am so glad that I walked inside rather than just ordering at the drive-​through. Walking through the door you get slapped in the face with a terrible odor that smells like the floor of a men’s bathroom at the filthiest of truck stops. It is beyond the smell of sewer gas. I walked halfway into the restaurant and the smell is everywhere. You couldn’t pay me enough money to eat here and I generally like Steak ‘n Shake.

Walking in, I immediately noticed the distinct odor of sewer gas. Not sure if they have plumbing problems, but it’s not appetizing or a good first impression. I used the changing table in the bathroom and that was clean and even had a special closed can for diapers. Once we got a table, I noticed that they didn’t bother to sweep the burger pieces from the previous customer off the floor from beneath the booth. Gross. The waiter we had was super friendly and made up for the horrible condition of the seating area. The food also came out as expected, and we didn’t get sick. The waiter did forget to place the order for our shakes, but he was apologetic and he made up for it by being so darn nice, and getting other odd things we ordered like extra ice for our tea. He also was in charge of ringing people up, so I understand it must be difficult to do both. I really think the management has failed here, not the waiter we had.

What a dump of a place. The floors are sticky, the cook is wiping the spatula in his armpits rags and the staff could care less if you’ve been standing at the counter for 20 minutes. Have you noticed all the dirt and fuzz on the ceiling around the vents? Yep, that blows onto the food. I never once saw the manager wipe down the cutting boards either. This place ranks as to one of the worst places I’ve ever visited and in glad I left with nothing.

This is the better steak n shake in Springfield — other 3 have marginal waitstaff that just doesn’t care — only one we go to
