Had a going away party yesterday for a co-worker for 16 people and went to the restaurant days ahead to book the event and the manager assured us he could handle the group. Service was Horrible, horrible and horrible. It took 45 minutes to get our appetizer which came when the food finally started to come out. The food did not come out in the order of who placed it first it just came out whenever. The blond food server could not remember who ordered what and asked us if that was the right food as if we could recognize the various types of sushi that THEY make. The guest of honor had to ask for a beer three times before getting it. Most food came out ONE hour after it was ordered. NOTHING went right. Drinks were not refilled or refilled incorrectly, it took 30, minutes to get the check and pay and leave. We spent 2 full hours from the time we ordered until we paid and walked out. The manager NEVER stuck his head in the room and NEVER asked us how things were going. I will make sure all my coworkers know what cra(ppy) service Haruno has and to go to a sushi place right down the street NOT this one.

Terrible service tonight. The sushi there is really good, but the fact that it took two hours to get to us and came to our table cold made for a really bad experience. The waiter was courteous but never even apologized or mentioned the ridiculously long wait time for the food. We were only two people, ordered 4 different rolls, and a group of about 20 people who were seated about 30 minutes after us got there food the same time we did. No idea why the service was so poor, there was absolutely no reason for it, but we won’t be going back.

Best sushi I have had anywhere around. I haven’t tried anything else on the menu as every time I come, I can’t not get sushi! It’s a very nice atmosphere, a little more on the high end. Waiters and hosts are very well dressed and the lighting is dim to give off a more classy atmosphere. You don’t have to dress up, but you won’t feel out of place if you do.

Called for a takeout order. The girl answered the phone and I asked 1 question…“of these 3 rolls are any tempura.” She answered that 2 were not fried… Perfect. Ordered those… Got order… both tempura. Sashimi was not good. One piece actually caused my husband to spit it out.

Wow this sushi is amazing! I had been craving sushi and had gotten a couple of recommendations for sushi places here in Springfield. I decided to go here because of all of the positive Unilocal reviews. I was not disappointed! I got the sushi to go so I can’t comment on the wait staff or service when seated but my service«to go» was great. I had the OMG roll and the spicy tuna roll, both were amazing! I did not have to wait long for my food and the presentation, even to go, was fantastic. They definitely take pride in their food and establishment. It was clean and high end. I can’t wait to go back and dine in!

Always love coming here. Great sushi. Service is hit and miss. Went last night and service was off. Our sushi took forever. Tables that got seated after us got their food long before us. When we mentioned something to our server he didn’t even acknowledge we said anything. Will keep going because we love the sushi– but not impressed with service!

Sushi in Springfield, MO? I was a little hesitant but I guess you can get good Sushi just about anywhere now. This is one of my favorites.

Brought the lady here for her birthday. We love sushi and Haruno has always treated us well. This visit was no exception. I ordered the Sushi Mans plate and the Pork Katsu. The nigiri style sushi was excellent. Very fresh and that night the tuna was a star. The pork katus was thin with the prefect amount of crunch. Honestly not my favorite katsu sauce but not a bad one either. The lady had a great time with her sushi rolls. She really enjoyed them. Just wish I had written down which she got. We sat in the newer area of the restaurant and really enjoyed the lower lighting and cozy bench seating. If I had one complaint it would be the projected tv screens. They are huge and while great for catching a game not so much for a romantic evening. Our bad though. We could have requested to sit in the more traditional section of the place. Either way. We are fans.

I’ve been coming to Haruno for a long time off and on when I come back to southern Missouri for a visit. I ordered the vegetable tempura lunch special and it was very tasty and the amount was sufficient especially when paired with the accompanying rice and salad(or soup if you prefer). Haruno is consistently good but expect a crowd at peak meal times.

I love this place! My boyfriend and I come here for sushi more than anywhere else. We always come for happy hour whether that’s the early or late happy hours. Early is 4−6pm and they have $ 10 for 3 half rolls(select rolls), $ 2.50 select beers and $ 5 or $ 6 select wines. Later happy hour is 9-close M-Th and Friday & Saturday is 10-close. $ 5 per roll(Miami, Yummy, Jalapeño, &TNT rolls I believe). They also have $ 2 edamame and $ 3 egg rolls which are to die for! The atmosphere is nice, but a little uppity. It’s pretty dark in the restaurant, but that makes for a more romantic dinner. Service is always great and the cocktail menu is huge! I always get the Yummy and Miami rolls. Same owners as Kai downtown, but this place isn’t as crazy busy during dinner. You must check this place out!

Really enjoyed the tempura battered and fried asparagus and mozzarella cheese appetizer, it came with a tangy avocado dipping sauce. Also liked the Chicken Teriyaki entrée. I tried Mochi ice cream for the first time and loved it. Will definitely come here again!

I’m from the west coast. Stopped by a short dinner before going to St. Louis. I ordered the omg roll, Sex in the city, jumbo shrimp, mozzarella tempura appetizers, jurassic Park roll, white palace roll, udon. Everything was amazing and great. The servers were very polite and kind. I will definitely stop by if I come by Missouri again. Thank you for such a good meal and service.

This is my new favorite place to go, it’s somewhere you can put on a little black dress and go eat really great food without burning a hole In your pocket. First they bring out your soup and salad, then after you’re finished with that they bring out your main corse. So you don’t have to feel overwhelmed by a ton of food In front of you. And to top this off you have to try there green tea ice cream It is to die for! I would recommend this place to everyone!

This used to be my favorite sushi restaurant in town. I used to love coming here years ago with no one in the restaurant. The rolls were cheap, and I had personal attention. It felt like my little secret. I was in love. Then people started catching on. They made more money, expanded, and decorated the crap out of their location. Now the last couple of times I have gone it’s packed and I wait, and wait, and wait. For a table, for sushi, for the waiter/waitress, for the line to the freakin restroom. The intimacy is gone. The sushi is still good, but not quite as good as I remember. Maybe it was me, I don’t know. Maybe they became too pretentious. or maybe I am just the possessive type. I long for the days before they became better looking and rich. Either way this is my breakup letter.

I’m from the East Coast visiting my son; I think this place had some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! First off, I had a Cucumber Rickey cocktail… I must get the recipe of this DELICIOUS drink, or die trying to figure it out: gin, muddled mint, slivered cukes, lime juice and ginger beer served in copper mug. If I wasn’t driving, I’d have had another! For two of us, we couldn’t stop ordering things to try, so we got five rolls. Yummy was my favorite. «Oh My God» was my son’s favorite; we also had the Sex in the City, Naughty Monkey and Incredible rolls. The décor(we sat in the bar side) was dark but hipster-funky. Server was the nicest guy; delivery of the actual food was slow(almost 35 minutes), but we thankfully started with Miso soup, so that helped with the delay.

Some of the best sushi you can get in Springfield! We got the tuna nigiri sample plate as an appetizer. For our main course we ordered 3 rolls and loved them all: Jurassic Park roll, Yummy roll(sweet) and White Palace roll(spicy). Dessert was the fried bananas. I have had this at several places, but here it was a touch spicy and oh so delicious!!!

I came here for a work dinner. As the only vegetarian in the group I was okay with the choice as I can usually pair together something to eat no matter where we go. I was happy there were a couple of vegetarian rolls — but not so happy that there wasnt a single vegetarian entrée. Seriously — its not hard to make something vegetarian. Just take the things that arent meat and cook them together. If they had more veggie options I might go for something other than a work dinner — as is meh. Everyone else seemed super happy with their choices though — and the fact that they were super happy makes me give four stars.

Be prepared to wait for your table, wait for your server and wait for your food. Be prepared to love the sushi. The ChicKen Bento boxes three of us ordered were disappointing. The chicken was overcooked and dry. This is the third visit where the service underwhelmed, I don’t think I’ll give it another chance unless somebody else is paying.
